This place started out as a nice restaurant for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately, the prices are steadily going up and the food quality down. Also, the cleanliness wasn't always to my expectations. I no longer visit the establishment even though at one point, I patronized it once a week.

I recently moved to the area, near Logan Square and I found this place. From outside it doesn't look impressive, decor inside is simple too, but once the food was put on the table, it was AWESOME!
The selection if very good, the meals are fresh and hot and portions are HUGE!. Our group of friends ate a lot and when the bill came we were surprised too it was very cheap.
I would highly recommend this Polish restaurant and I am sure to come back again.

Recently this restaurant was closed for disgusting health violations. I am sick just thinking about all the things that were going on in the kitchen. My previous review is below. Here's what I know, now. There were hundreds of pieces of feces from vermin found in the kitchen, along with mold on the gravy and chicken kept at the wrong temperature. They were closed immediately by health inspectors. Please do not eat here. You can read the full reports by doing a Google search for the restaurant name.

If you like Polish food and want to avoid the packed buffets (Czerwone Jabluszko, Grota) visit Paul Zakopane's restaurant. Don't let the modest decor fool you this restaurant's food is just like eating at your Polish grandmother's house. Plus, you will never leave hungry and your wallet won't be stretched either. All of the meals are extremely affordable and generous in porportion. The service is great here. The owner is often walking around pouring coffee and talking to customers, which reminds me your coffee will never go cold or empty here.

If you aren't familiar with Polish food their menu features plenty of American diner-favorites too. If you want to try a little bit of everything I recommend the Polish combination plate--if you can handle it! It has sausage, pierogi, potato dumplings, golabki and sauerkraut to name a few.

While the restaurant is small you will always get table. They also have a full bar and Polish beer for those who like a cocktail with dinner. Paul Zakopane Harnas is a must for an authentic Polish dinner under $10. Look for the burgundy and white awning.

PROS:
CONS: Unsafe health violations
