My 1st Ruth's experience was in Louisville, Ky on top of a building. I was blown away by the food and atmosphere. So when I finally went to the one in Chicago I was like how can this one top Louisville being here on Dearborn St? Well it did maybe even surpassed in service! Same 500 degree plate with delectable aged steak sizzling on top! Being in the VIP Concierge Business I have hit them all around the River North area and Ruth's is right there on top. Fantastic service from the time I walked in the door! Well worth the money and well worth having a meal! I'll be back and will send many customers Ruth's way!

My Friend and I went to Ruth's Chris by accident. We were just out walking and having a good time and he said ""I smell meat! I'm hungry follow me"" So off we go in seach of the wonderful smells. We found ourselves in the doors of an amazing place. We were ushered right in to the bar to await our table. We waited no more than 15 minutes. We had the lamb chops and prime rib. This was the most memorable meal for both of us. We both recommend Ruth's Chris to anyone who wants to experience a true dining experience. ENJOY!

On my first visit to Chicago, I decided to eat at places that would make the event memorable. The friendly coat and hat check attendant started the great service that extended to the waiters, bus boys, servers and maitre' d. The dining experience was upscale, but the patrons and staffs were not snobbish. My waitress made excellent suggestions for me: creole style barbeque shrimp,, stuffed lobster, sweet potato casserole, cesar salad were served with a mineral water called Panna. Everything delicious, hot fresh. The servers never allow your drinks to be low and are super attentive. One draw back fo me is that everything on the menu is served a la carte, so you kind of have to know how to build your meal based on all the choices ( something I am not particulary good at)

I am not a steak person. I don't eat it at home. I don't generally want it or like it. But wow, I will eat steak at a place like this. My experience at this Ruth's Chris was luxurious, indulgent, and worth every penny. I had the ribeye and it was fantastic. The sweet potato side dish was scrumptious, and the key lime pie dessert huge and creamy. I'd definitely go back!

I took my husband to Ruth's Chris in Chicago for his birthday with a group of 6. Most of us had never been there before. We had 9:00 reservations but they were able to get us in at 7:30 which worked out better for us since we had more activities planned for the evening. The food was wonderful. The whole group of us ordered steaks and chicken and every meal turned out just perfect. Our waiter Andy was top notch. All his suggestions proved to be the very best. We all couldn't rave more about the service and food. Andy was even able to accomodate our evening plans by getting us to the head of the line at the dualing piano bar Howl at the Moon that is right next door! We will definitly be going back the next time we go to Chicago. This is a must try resturant. You won't be disappointed.

In my personal opinion Ruth's Chris Steak House has the best steaks in Chicago. My mother took me there about 2 years ago for my birthday and I loved it. When I graduated from college in March 2007, my mother said that I could have my graduation dinner whereever I wanted. Guess whom I chose? Their steaks are tender and always cooked just right. Be careful! Do not touch the hot plate. I have eaten at some of the other place such as Morton's but, they didn't measure up. I would recommend this restaurant to any adult that loves a great steak, cooked just right. The atmosphere and staff are great! Reservations are strongly recommended. This is the only steak house that I have personally been to that's crowded Sun.-Sat. So, the next time you are in the mood for a great steak, great service and great atmosphere give Ruth's a chance and you will not in any way be disappointed.

If your looking for a place to get a great steak with great service, decor and a nice setting this is a good place for it. Excellent for those special occasions like birthdays and such. Try the New York Strip if your a serious meat eater. Be prepared to spend some serious money though, a New York Strip, Rib Eye, Two glasses of wine (9.50 a glass), The Potatoes Au Gratin and Asparagus set me back $150.00 including the 15% Tip.

I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and from the beginning the service and food were great. \n\nOnce we arrived for dinner, we were seated promptly. For our appetizer we shared the escargot and lobster bisque. Both were fantastic. For our main course I had the rib eye and she had the filet. Both were cooked perfectly to order and the size of the portions were good as well.\n\nFor dessert we had a slice of chocolate mousse cheese cake which was decorated with her name and a ""Happy Birthday"". I know it's nothing out of the ordinary, but always a nice way to cap off a good birthday meal.\n\nOverall, it was a great dinner. Not the lowest priced place in the world, but an excellent restaurant to splurge if youre in the mood for a great steak.

Can someone please tell me why you would ruin a great steak by pouring melted butter on it? If you like greasy meat, then fine, this is your place but remember as the butter cools down you have shiny white grease looking at you. Why, in heaven's name, would you put steak on a pool of melted butter and pour more on top? A good way to ruin a steak.

My husband and I went to Ruth's Chris for our anniversary. Our server was pleasant and informed us that the steaks are brought out on a sizzling plate, so they cook more after they are brought out. The appetizer list was slim. We ordered Piniot Grigio which was chilled to perfection. We ordered Ceasarsalad, which we split. It was the perfect combination of ingrediants & dressing. I then escaped to the bathroom, which had one of those roller towels. This cheapened the place in my opinion. I returned back to find my huge steak. The steak was wonderfully cooked, and flavored. My only complaint was that it was fattier than I had anticipated. The augraten potatoes and creamed spinach wonderful. For desert we went for the chocolate sin cake with ice cream. They did write happy anniversarry around the plate. A great touch! I will return back to Ruth's Chris.

Went here for a buddy's birthday and the steaks were good, drenched in butter and the side dishes were delicious. The steaks did need more flavor but were moist and cooked the way we asked. Service is excellent and reservations are highly recommended on the weekends. Definitely would go back again.

Not the greatest side dishes and would skip those. Everything is ala carte and peas get cold fast and were over cooked, augratin potatoes not very good left those there. Salad was huge and very good. Desert menu is a gota have. I will always visit here but just for steak and a salad been here many times tried almost all the side dishes and not impressed. Service and steak are enough to get me back though.

My wife and I have eaten at more than 20 Ruth's Chris restaurants. What we've seen over the past two or three years is a steady errosion in the quality of the steaks we order and a real range of overall quality and service between one restaurant and another. . .even in the same city. For example, the ""Ruths"" in Phoenix on Camelback is superior in all respects, while it's sister-restaurant in Scottsdale was mediocre. Sides are obscenely priced and liquor - or any drink other than water - is a poor value. IOHO.

Pros: Good steaks (normally, spinach au gratin, wine list (but pricy)

Cons: Outlandish prices, Snobby staff, Too noisy

After several attempts, in as many cities, I finally made it to the Ruth Chris in Downtown Chicago. We went out for a Birthday celebration and I ordered the filet, medium well. As I cut into the small portion, a red pool covered my plate. I sent it back and by the time my husband finished his meal, a 2nd steak was delivered. It was almost as raw as the first. Needless to say, I will never darken the doorway of another Ruth Chris establishment.

Loved the atmosphere at this very masculine spot. Sure it's a chain. It was the best steak I have had in the city thus far. One draw back...the butter flavor somewhat overshadowed the mouthwatering cut I had. Wine list was outstanding and reasonable for the quality I had.

The Chicago location was the first RC I ate at. What an experience, yes everything is extra but where else is almost everything covered in butter. The filets, lobster, veggies and potato dishes are all wonderful. We can't decide on our favorites. If we are real hungry we'll get the lobster bisque and a salad but otherwise we just go for the simple meat, potatoes, veggies and dessert. We've tried 6 locations so far and all of them have been top notch. You almost feel like royalty here

A heart attack waiting to happen - but what a way to go. Everything reminded me of old time supper clubs except the prices which are real high. Delicious steaks and garlic mashed potatoes. Not a place for people who need alot of choices.
