***BUYER BEWARE*** This dealership practices a common scam know as the "Spot Delivery Scam." This scam was done to us by the financing manager - Casey, and Jimmy in the finance department. These 2 people "approved" us on a used car loan.

Do not shop here. It is a rip off and as soon as you say you are not going to buy that day because you want to shop around they get rude and try to keep you there. How can their best deal suddenly be made unreasonably better? Yes you can

We saw a Ford Mustang on Elgin Hyundai internet website listed for $12,995. Called and spoke to Johnathan Mendez and Travis Crull, who both confirmed the options and price of the car. Made an appointment with Johnathan to come in Saturday, September 10th to look over the vehicle and take it for a test drive.
Upon arrival, we had to wait for the vehicle to be brought over from another location. Once the vehicle arrived, we took it for a test drive, and then began to talk to the salesman. We asked him to check with his manager to see if he could do better on the price of the car. He returned with numbers written a piece of paper 60 months at $350 per month. He was very nervous and kept avoiding the cost of the vehicle and just kept talking monthly payment instead. When I insisted on what the cost of the car was, he said $15,600, which was a complete surprise to us because we thought we were working with a starting cost of $12,995. Once they got us to the dealership, the price was no longer what was quoted and had increased by more than $2500.
From that point on we could not get the same story out of anyone. We spoke to a sales manager who said his name was Tony Basich. I asked him for his business card and he gave me a card with the name Tony Basich on it. Later when speaking to Johnathan he told me that Tony Basich was no longer employed there. So after finding out that Tony Basich no longer worked there, I asked the sales manager again for his name and he said Tony Basich. Later after looking on the website, I found out that Tony Basich was really Mike Medina. So why lie about your name? This is the Sales Manager?
Why would the sales manager lie about his own name? The intentional deceit is clear.
As the lies came spewing out, one story was the vehicle had some additional work done to it between us talking to the internet sales person and our arrival to the dealership. But why not be up front about the price upon our arrival?
The other story by Mike Medina AKA Tony Basich was that there were two vehicles traded at the same time and the wrong pricing was applied to each vehicle. Jonathan Mendez said no, that there was work done to the vehicle that increased the price.
We were quoted $12,995 and then when we started the process of purchase, the price was increased to $15,600. The other suspicious thing about this is that they tried to conceal the cost of $15,600 by continuing to quote only the monthly payment, instead of the cost of the vehicle. If it truly was a case of mis-marking the two vehicles, why try to conceal it? And why lie about your name and try to say you are a person who no longer works there. If this is how a manager acts, a manager is supposed to lead by example; then I do not want to imagine the practices of the rest of the sales force.
Long story short; we were misled and deliberately lied to not only about the price of the vehicle but about the identity of the sales manager by the sales manager himself.
I would not recommend this dealership to anyone.

THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS.

I purchased a car from here before I went off to school. Well, actually, I purchased 2 cars.

The first car I purchased from these guys was a 2005 Ford Five-Hundred. I needed a car to take down to school a week from the purchase date. I took this car home the next day and the transmission started Bucking really hard. I called the dealership thinking they wouldn't have a problem fixing it. At first, they didn't! I went to pick the car up 2 days before I had to travel 350mi to school- and the transmission problem was not only not fixed, but it was worse. I finally took one of their mechanics in the car for a drive and then they said they weren't going to fix it!

They unwound the financing on the vehicle and put me in a different, less luxurious, older 2003 Hyndai Elantra at a higher cost to me. I also purchased the warranty on the vehicle. Then, a month later, the exhaust flex-pipe on the car had a hole punctured in it from RUST. I brought it to these guys thinking it would be covered under my warranty and of course it wasn't. They said they would fix it for $1000. That 1/7th the price of the car for a pipe the size of your arm or smaller. I took the car to Tuffy Automotive in Lake in the Hills, they replaced the broken flex pipe and performed all other scheduled maintenance for $150.Tuffy also said that the Rear-Right Brake bracket was cracked- which can only be caused over a long period of time. Tuffy said this was UNSAFE and the car should not be driven like this. In my opinion, this car should not have been sold to me.

Don't buy from them- worst dealership experience I've ever EVER had. I wish I could take the car back just so I don't have a car from Elgin Hyundai,

I have purchased many cars in my lifetime and always hated when the time was coming up to buy my next one till now. This dealership actually went out of the way for me to make me happy, I did not get any pressure to make a purchase on my first visit and were helpful in answering all of my questions.

The sales process was pleasant, and they were met the internet quotes I had. The financing process was very smooth. I got the 2.9% 60 month finance deal. They were very professional regarding add-ons, not being overly pushy.
This is the second car I purchased from them. Highly recommended.

Dave, the salesman, was not your typical salesman. Very laid back, nice, informative, trusting (let my boyfriend and I test drive by ourselves), and just an all-around nice man. I bought a brand new car and he still came down in price. He didn't try to use key phrases or certain sales techniques, he was just down-to-earth and was honest with my boyfriend and I.

The sales tactic came into play when they wanted me to get a package that prevented staining in the car and that protected the color of the car. The finance guy was nice, but a little over the top. I kept on saying no, and he finally threw it in for free. So kudos to me :)

I was literally in and out of there in 2 1/2 hours--that is incredible for a car dealership. They told me about their free car washes for life and even told my boyfriend he could come in as well.
