Al's Steak House is one of the oldest established fine dining restaurants in Joliet. Established in 1964, Al's has gone through many changes. The original building was enlarged to serve the growing number of diners visiting Al's. Once known as the nightspot of Joliet, with many bands appearing nightly in the lounge, Al's decided to change. Due to changing times, our lounge was converted to banquet rooms. The gates to one of Joliet's Landmarks, Joliet Citizens Brewery, were used in our decor adding a charm to our 350-seat dining room.
First off, its a steakhouse so the prices are as you would expect. The food is very good. They have a huge salad bar that comes with your meal. The only con is that it is a little dark inside.

We have a Christmas party here every year for work. The food is delicious and they have party rooms available which makes it so much easier with a big group of people.

Al's Steakhouse Ginny Priovolos still thinks she owns the place and likes to flirt with the men. Hot stuff. The steaks are as flabby as the hostess and waitresses. There's a taudry, cheap kind of charm about the place with the old gals and their dees, dems and dose ways. The salad bar is awful.

The food is really good. I usually go for the buffet on the weekends when I come here. The atmosphere is really nice. It's very classy and elegant. Great for family parties or special events!

Growing up, my family would go to Al's Steakhouse almost every Sunday for their brunch. The food -- with a cold salad/fruit bar and a hot breakfast/dinner bar -- is delicious. And the atmosphere is great -- kind of dark.

This place cost to muc money and I do not think you get that much food when my family left every one was hungry again within an hour and for the prices they charge they need to make larger potions of food.
PROS: pretty inside
CONS: to much to eat there and food is not that good

First, let me start by saying that I'm not an elitist eater but I do expect food to be representative of the price. Al's charges a premium for steaks and food and the quality doesn't come close to a Western Sizzler. It is that bad.
Specifically, my family of four went to Al's and we all got different items: 1 Filet Mignon, 1 Al's Steak Dianne, Veal Marsala, and a Chicken Florentine. Each item was worse than the next.
The Filet was ordered Medium Rare and with mushrooms on top. It was delivered like looking like a hockey puck and CANNED MUSHROOMS (not cooked.. just like out of the can).
The Al's Steak Dianne is just the worst. It is literally a steak in a brown gravy that is just nasty.
The Veal Marsala was completely overcooked and the mushroom sauce looked almost exactly like the "brown gravy" on the Dianne.
The Chicken Florentine was just about the same as the rest. I would have to say it wasn't too bad.
Now for the best part, we sent it back... and GOT A BILL FOR EVERYTHING.. I was like is this a joke? I would skip on this place for sure.
Pros: Not Going There Again
Cons: See Below.. It's Horrible
