I have been taking my dog to Carey Animal Clinic for five years & have always been very happy with both Doctors & the staff. Every time my dog has been ill, they have given her excellent care & we have also received phone calls afterward to check on her. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a clinic that will treat their pet as if it were their own.

My cat has been a patient of Dr. Carey's for 18 years. Even after I moved to Oak Forest, I continued to take my cat to her clinic. The staff and the doctors have consistently delivered exemplary care, earning my trust and continued support.

After I witnessed the compassion Dr. Carey demonstrated when my other cat needed to be put down under painful and very sad circumstances, I will always trust that she has my pet's best interests in mind.

Recently I was reading some reviews, most of which were negative gripes about money and waiting times. I strongly urge readers to keep an open mind when considering the care of their animals, and to always seek out what they believe to be the best. In my humble opinion, Dr. Carey and her clinic staff of vets, techs, assistants and office staff are all performing at such a high level because they truly care about our pets. What more can one ask for?

We went to Carey Animal Clinic a few times when we first got out dogs. Rather than being full of opinions, I'll share my honest experience and you can decide for yourself. There was always a tremendous wait once we got there. The staff wasn't very polite. On more than one occassion we were charged for services we didn't ask for - and weren't informed of prior. Then, when we questioned, we were made to feel like we weren't looking out for our dogs best interest. The final time this happened, I asked that they refund me for the service I didn't request. The receptionist told me to wait a minute, went in the back to discuss it, and came out with a folder in her hand. She came out and told me they couldn't refund the money and were sorry I was displeased. She also said, "here are your records, the next vet will want them." I was basically "dismissed".

I'm not looking to bash someone just because of one bad experience. This was a pattern seen through more than a handful of visits. We're more than willing to pay for our dogs care - but value a good business sense along with good service. Whenever we were there it seemed like we were rushed through - the dogs never got a good "go over". It was strictly "what are you here for?" Never a desire to explore anything except for the specific reason for your visit. Once when I raised another issue during a visit for a possible bladder infection they told me to schedule another appointment! I was already in the office!

Bottom line - they lack in service. I think you could find better. We did ...... Hickory Creek Animal Hospital.

I'm moving and I called the vet to get a sedative, since it will be a long car ride.

My mom was going past the vet, so she offered to pick it up for me.
I was shocked when she came home with one 25mg Acepromazine and it cost $6.00! She didn't look at the bottle, so when they said $6.00 she thought it was more then one.

I called the vet to find out why I was charged that much for one pill and I was told that Dr. Carey sets the prices and that's the cost for one pill, but the price per pill does go down if you buy more then one, so for about an extra $2.00 I could have bought two pills and when I asked why no one called me to ask if I needed/wanted more then one, she said I didn't ask to be called.

I checked www.drsfostersmith.com and their cost for the pills is .40 each or .35 each if you need more then 10, so if I had them call the sedative in to them I could have saved $5.60 for the one pill.

Now that I know how over priced they are, I won't be going back.

I have taken my pets here for years and they always take very good care of them. You can truly tell they love animals. They do grooming as well. Prices are very reasonable.
