Highcrest Townhomes, now owned by The Laramar Group, has managed to turn this once, family oriented community, into a bottom feeding Cash Cow. It was wise of them, not to be BBB accredited. I am a resident, a Navy Veteran, partially disabled, a Respiratory therapist and a single mom. My time is important to me.
If I am writing a review, it's because Laramar Group/Highcrest Townhomes, have gone beyond dispicable.
I DON'T recommend this community for the following reason(s): Parking! Monthly Charge:($20-$25/mo. PER VEHICLE). Where do you park? In Your Dreams. If you believe in Magic,for $50/month(Per VEHICLE), your dream comes true. Having guests over? Better make sure EVERYONE has $225.00 for the Towing Fee! If you complain (which I did), you will be showered with "I'm Sorry's" and bribed aka SHUT YOU UP or GO AWAY (which I was) and if you refuse(AND I DID), You will receive a threatening letter(violating your 1st amendment rights) from their Attorney(which I did). Your Itemized Utility bill (which is unquestionably high and unexplainable-BY ANYONE) is billed in the rear and NO ONE takes responsibility for it (I MEAN NO ONE) aka Plausible Deniability. Be prepared to take plenty of Xanax, when you hear the SCRIPTED EXCUSE! Do your homework, future seekers of Rental property! It's easy to get caught up in the: "Look at ALL this Space" Trap, the pretty, twinkly, oooh-aaah, pictures posted on social media (and how many of you have friends who DON'T look like the pictures they've posted!) But, once you are done signing your 27 page lease (YES, I said 27!) you will find out, very quickly, painfully and with great frustration, what's really under the "Skirt" of Highcrest Townhomes.
FYI: It has become serious enough for me to file complaints with: The Attorney General's Office, The Village of Woodridge, The dept.of Veterans Affairs/Disabled Veterans (Due to Parking becoming Unsafe for residents with Disabilities and/or small children)., The Illinois Tenants Union, Illinois Dept. of Human Rights, US Dept of Justice (Civil Rights Division; Housing & Civil Enforcement). The sad part about all of this: I'm one of the BEST tenants they have!

my rent is automatically taken out of my checking every month. when it was time to renew, the office never said anything about having to renew my auto rent pay. nor was it ever on the number of letters sent to me regarding the renew process. after the first of the month came and went and rent was not taken out i went to the office to ask about it. i was told that i had to renew my info. and that i now owed an $85 late fee. so i went back to my place and tried to log in. my password did not work anymore. i had to go back to the office to have the manager reset it. so even if i would have tried to renew before my due date i would have not been able to log in and owed a late fee.
this is the WORST place i have ever lived in. we have people doing drugs and smoking in our common area.our place always smalls like pot or cigarettes. ive found bullet shells in our parking lot. someone died in our pool last summer. my wife and step daughter are so afraid that i have to meet them outside when they come home at night. there is never any parking. we pay $10 a month for parking. we have to park all the way across the complex on a good night. one time i got a parking ticket because there was no spots left, we had to park next to the curb in the parking lot. when i went to the office the office manager said it was not her problem. when i tried to tell her that more than half the cars parked in the parking lot don't even have a permit to park there she once again said it was not her problem. why should i have to pay for the parking ticket? i pay per month for a spot that i hardly even get. and every time i talk to any employee and ask them about charges to my bill that say "im not supposed to tell you about this" sometimes they do. i found that our water meter is in a locked closet in our common area. we never get to see our water usage. we get charged $50+ a month for water sewer and i never see a bill. the only reason i resigned the lease is because i didnt have the money for a down payment on another place. i will NOT be staying here another year.

Absolute worst place I have ever lived. Things to know before moving in... There are 6 townhomes per building and the water charges are split-up amongst everyone, so you get to pay for water you don't even use. The buildings are old, but many cosmetic upgrades. Windows, doors and patio all leak air, so expect a large electric and heating bill. The paint job inside is sloppy and is probably 9 layers deep at least. The "community" area for laundry was so bad in the building, I lugged my laundry elsewhere. The floor was falling apart and moldy, they fixed it after 7 months by laying tile over it, not a real fix. But parking is my number one complaint. You have 2 parking choices $5 a month to park or $30 a month for a reserved spot. You CAN NOT find parking. I routinely have to park 4 buildings away because of illegally parked vehicles. They DO NOT tow. There has been a vehicle with a smashed in window and flat tire for 3 months, constantly reported and is still just sitting there. This is not a place I would recomend to even my worst enemy.

I used to live at Highcrest and I have to say this is place is a dump .They need a lot of work done , they pay so much attention to the outside and not enough to fixing up the inside .The management is terrible they dont care , the laundry facilities are so disgusting and of course I had mice in the one I rented , kind of turned me off as you can imagine .

I was initially drawn to this complex because of the huge size of apartments available for really budget prices (over 1000 sq feet for less than $1000). However, what they give you in square footage, they take away in privacy. Most large living room windows look directly out on to the 6 sq. ft. patio of your neighbors, which means you're either on display or keeping your windows closed all the time. The leasing manager just gave us keys to an apartment and said "Let me know when you're done." If I were her, I would have rather tried to sell it than make us do the work in finding which apartment keys she gave us. No thanks.
