1 Stars: bad experience. (by leah w.)

I had an extremely bad experience here. It began with the fitting where I made an appointment to come in and when I came, then told me that they didn't know I was coming. Despite this, the still fitted me, which I was thankful for. But maybe this is why the bridesmaid dress I had them alter did not fit correctly when I came to pick it up. I took the dress in about a month before the wedding and the told me to pick it up 3 days before the date I had to wear it. When I came back in, the dress did not fit. This is an out of town wedding. I don't have time to come back again. So I'm still not sure what I'm going to do...because I'm kind of screwed. Perhaps I made the wrong choice going here. I don't know. All I know is I have a strapless dress that I'm going to have to make straps for now myself so that it will stay up. On top of it all, the woman who fitted me basically implied that I was chubby and that's why she supposedly chose to not fit the dress so that it would stay up. Not only is this untrue because although I'm not tiny, I certainly don't consider myself chubby, but it is EXTREMELY unprofessional. I will never go back here. It was cheap. The only good part of my experience.

4 Stars: A high-quality tailor (by Devon R.)

I found out about La Modista when I was getting married. I knew they were a place where many brides took their wedding gowns to be altered, so I knew it had to be a high-quality tailoring shop.

I didn't have my wedding dress altered there, but took a formal dress to be altered. It was easy to schedule an appointment, and I went in hoping they would be able to do a rush job. I needed the dress in about a week, and they were able to accommodate me at no extra cost. The base price for the alteration, $30, seemed very reasonable to me, as they were taking the dress in all over, and it had a lining.

They were experts at taking the dress in, and left enough room so it didn't turn out too tight. I was really pleased with the work and will definitely be taking other garments there to be altered.
