I had my color done by Nikki! she was wonderful... I hate getting my hair done by someone that PULLLS my hair and slaps on dye.. NIKKI was great she ws gentle and Neat! she wasnt pushy about buying the most expensvie product they have there.. which is always a plus(women hate that hello!) The salon was relaxing the stylist were spaced out so it didnt feel like u were right on top of one another! :) Go seee NIKKI

I have wavy hair and had been thinking about going much shorter. I didn't want razor looks or severe cut lines. Just a sassier look that would work with my hair texture and take minimal work/minimal product. I like the "long" short looks, messy and layered. Though I had some pictures with me for guidelines, I'd never been to TRIO, and walked in on a whim. ROXY was the available stylist at the time and I consider myself most fortunate to have encountered her talents. She looked at my pictures, listened to what I wanted as I explained the realities of my hair, and gratefully, she also had an opinion. she took her time with meticulous care, paid attention to the pictures, considered the shape of my face , cutting less until we were both confident to go shorter. What I ended up with was the cut I had in mind, a short but versatile cut I really love and that works for my hair type
The entire staff was very welcoming and pleasant.

I LOVE my hair. i haven't been really happy with my hair until i met Kim. The hair cuts she gives me last beyond the normal time frame a haircut should last for, and more importantly my hair is so easy to style in the morning, it just falls right into place. This chick knows what she's doing! Check her out - you won't regret it!

Aaron is an absolute magician with short hair! He does a fantastic job with a rather unruly hairline, keeps my hair looking contemporary and professional at the same time; terrific personality with high respect to his clients; always friendly and social; I not only tell the whole world about his magic with me, but recommend him to everyone!

If anyone is new to Chicago or you are just looking for the BEST salon in the city for a creative no attitude approach to haircutting, try Trio. You will walk out of the place lighter in the pocket; yes, but extremely happy with yourself and the team.

I recently decided to try out TRIO salon and they are fabulous! I did a dye and cut. Roxy did an amazing job on my haircut! She was very attentive and made exellent recommendations. I couldnt be happier with my but. I also did coloring with Van who is also amazing! He also took the time to discuss the best options for me as far as coloring. The entire staff was unbelievely attentive always making sure that I was comfortable and offering me beverages. I have never had such a great and satisfying experience at a salon! I have gotten so many compliments on my cut and color. Roxy, Van, and Ronnie made an awesome team! I highly recommend TRIO salon!

I get my hair colored at Trio Salon in Bucktown, North Ave. location. My color guy is Blue. He truly is a gift.
Every time he colors my hair, it's my favorite time. He does a fabulous job, I am never disappointed. I really do look amazing when I leave Trio. Blue is extremely professional, and always cutting edge, which is exactly what I need, because I'm not always up on the latest hair trends. But he is!! do yourself a favor.....get your hair colored by Blue. You will not be disappointed!!

Blu and Reese are fantastic! I went on a recommendation and am thrilled with my new hair color and style! It is so nice to have friends and strangers alike compliment me on my hair-what a nice change. I highly recommend them both and there is ample parking which is terrific!

I stopped in this salon on a Monday morning! I'm glad I did. I have fine hair and asked for someone that specializes in that. Alex did a great job and had a vision and strategy for my hair and style suited to me. It was so easy to style my hair with a good cut. Renata did my color and it was perfect.
I'd highly recommend it.

I have average hair for a male, a bit on the thick side, and I feel as though I have never been able to find someone to give me a cut that looks good the day I leave the shop til the day I come back. I recently booked an appointment with ashley and was pleasently surprised, first and foremost for her cutting, second, she was a pleasure to be with. Her hair cut did take close to an hour, but it really did last and shes not so bad to spend a few spare minutes with. Go to ashley and youll see what i mean,

I recently went to trio salon after reading good things about it on citysearch, I was very happy to see that I was not mislead. I saw Iwen for color and Ashley for a cut. Iwen listened to what I said very carefully and gave me exactly what I was looking for. Ashley turned my mop of hair into something very stylish that is easy for me to do on my own. Both girls were extremely sweet and friendly. Also Im not sure what the girls name iswho works at the front desk but she was the nicest girl, and very helpful when I spoke with her on the phone. Thankyou Iwen and Ashley, I will be a loyal client!

This is the only review I have ever written on Citysearch but I just had to write about Trio and my stylist Jerri and my colorist Diana. I moved to Chicago from out of state 7 years ago and spent the first 4 1/2 years trying every salon I could find for a consistently good cut and color. I tried all of the big name salons and a few smaller ones. The problem I always ran into was that you may get one or two quality hair cuts and then it would go down from there, it was like the person would flake out on you or just wasn't trying anymore. Or the color would be great the first time and then it would be a disaster. I have finally found a wonderful stylist and colorist who are consistently wonderful to work with. I always leave the salon feeling great and loving my hair. They are open to any and all suggestions and really listen and answer all questions. I joke with them that if they ever move I am going to have to track them down and follow them. Jerri even did my hair for my wedding and I couldn't have been happier...she really helped to take the stress off throughout that day.

I went to Chris back in October for a graduated bob. He is awesome! He was superfriendly, very attentive, and very detail oriented. He was obviously concerned with not only improving his own skills, but also making sure that I liked what the end product was. He's got a lot of passion for his work, loves what he does, and it shows in his customer service, his desire for perfection, and his eye for a beautiful haircut/style! Highly, highly recommend him! He's in the training program at the Wicker Park Trio, which, incidentally, is a lovely salon.

I am 24 years old and have had my fair share of haircuts at high end salons in both Chicago and Boston. Up until I found Aaron at Trio Salon, I was never happy with my haircut. Most high end salons boast the professionals that work there as the best in town; however Aaron at Trio is the first hair stylist that not only made me feel like I was getting what I paid for, but actually impressed me with his abilities. I have had everything from a simple layer to the trendy bangs and bob look, and have always left feeling more attractive than when I came in. I highly recommend Aaron to anyone looking to commit to a serious hair stylist who knows what he is doing. He will deliver!!!

I also heard about Farrah and the stylist training program from a friend and I went to her and LOVED her. She was a great stylist and a pleasure to be around - which is sometimes not the case at top salons. Farrah has graduated from the program now and I loved her so much, I'm still going back to her for my next cut! Even though the deal isn't quite as great as when she was a trainee, its worth it.

After MANY visits to other "supposedly" high end salons, I was recommended to Trio by a co-worker. I loved the atmosphere of the Wicker Park location. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist, and had the best shampoo of my life!!! Ashley did an AMAZING job on my cut. My hair is troublesome, and I have never found someone that could cut or style it w/ such precision. My hair looked fantastic when I left the salon, and continued to look fantastic for 8 weeks! I will definitely be a very loyal client to Ashley, she was great, and not to mention one of the sweetest people I have ever met...Thanks Ashley for listening, advising, and executing!!! I've never felt better.

I've been to Trio Several times over the last year and have had nothing but the best experiences. I've seen aaron for haircuts and he's extremely talented and always professional. Alex the owner works there on Fridays and is incredibly welcoming and personal, there's nothing pretensious about this place. Regardless of minor inconviences like running out of hot water, I've had worse experiences at other salons in the city- I'm recommending it because I've never had better haircuts anywhere else. Try aaron, you won't regret it

I am in love with my hair color! I moved to the city 2 yrs ago and was in need of a touch up. I took a friend's recommendation and went to thins high end salon to get highlights. Unfortunately I left the salon with white, chunky bands and on top of that my hair was so damaged it was flying away as it was being dried. I discovered Trio as I was walking down North Ave. not long after, so I went in for a consultation with Ewen and I have stuck with her since. Ewen is the best colorist I have had so far. She really listened to my complaints and made suggestions. She is very patient, which I appreciate because I like to ask A LOT of questions all the time, and she always listens to my problems( I have alot of those to.) Nevertheless she fixed my do and gave me a treatment which stopped my hair from breaking. As long as I stay in Chicago I will keep going back to Trio. I have found a wonderful colorist and a friend!

So I have been to about 10 or so salons in the chicago area. and have NEVER left feeling like I got what I paid for...until now. I am super excited that I found Trio Salon on citysearch. I decided to try them after seeing their video and the coupon, I figured I had nothing to lose. The only stylist available the day that I wanted to go in was a newbie. She just started working on the floor. I was a bit nervous about having a newbie work on my hair but to be honest with you, it was the best color I have gotten since moving to chicago. I was very surprised that my stylist was able to do what others in the city with more experience hasn't been able to do. Cate was awesome and I am definitely going to go back. I felt like she really listened to me and did exactly what I had asked for. I left feeling great. Best part, they didn't charge me to blowdry my hair like the last salon I went to. I would highly recommend going to Trio. If you want to give a newbie a chance Cate is aweomse, however there are other stylists there that looked like they were pretty good to - either way I would say if you are looking for a great salon, trio is it! Oh and the receptionist was one of the most friendliest people I have ever been greeted by. Im not sure what her name was but she really made me feel comfortable.

When my stylist, Rosa, recommended I see Jessica for color, I was skeptical. I had been doing my own for many years, and the results were adequate. Having had some very bad experiences in the past with color done in salons, I was, well, gun shy. But I trust Rosa completely, so I went ahead and took a chance. It turned out to be one of the best chances I've ever taken. Jessica is a terrific colorist. She has a great eye for color and is very skilled at seeing the possibilities and carrying them through. And she has a wealth of knowledge (that belies her youth) about hair and how products will work with various natural colors and textures. I have no doubt that she will achieve the best results for you. She has utterly transformed my blah and spotty hair color into just the vibrant and stunning color I really wanted all along. Since I've been privileged to have Jessica as my colorist, I get compliments everywhere I go on the color of my hair. Being her client has completely transformed how I feel about having this work done in a salon. Book her now -- because she is going to rapidly become the most sought after colorist at Trio!

I went to Trio because of the reviews on citysearch. I saw Kate for highlights and Ashley for my haircut. I'm a brunette so I like my highlights very natural looking - I'm not trying to be a blonde! She did a great job with highlights and lowlights and I absolutely love it! ashley is so sweet, and she really did a great job with my haircut, she really paid attention to our consultation at the beginning and listened to what i was asking for. I definetly recommend trio, they're very talented and very outgoing. Everyone, including reception made it a great experience ( which everyone knows is important) and I'll definetly be returning

After visiting MANY salons in Chicago, I recently went to Trio. The atmosphere is very upbeat and friendly. The front desk staff was very welcoming. I had the best shampoo I have ever had, and the cut was impeccable. I have never had someone pay so much attention to detail. Ashley was VERY friendly and experienced. She knew what she was doing, gave me her professional opinion, as well as fulfiiling my needs. I have never been happier with my hair, she did such a wonderful job. I will be a loyal client to Ashley, she is definitely worth the drive to the city. I LOVE ASHLEY!!!!

I'm in College so I'm definetly on a budget but I don't want to downgrade my hair care because of it. I heard about the stylist training program at Trio in Wicker Park from a friend and it sounded too good to pass up. I made an appointment with Farrah and she was fabulous! She's basically finished with her program and is so talented, I was very impressed. I've got difficult hair to blowdry but she nailed it! I don't think I've ever walked out of a salon looking that good!! It's definetly worth checking out!

I've been going toTrio for years however I just started going to their Wicker Park location and I love it. I love my stylist At the gold coast location but he actually splits up his time between the two salons. Parking is easier and it's a really great neighborhood. I use my appointments as an excuse to check out the unique shopping down Milwaukee and Damen, I love the shopping in this neighborhood! Aaron, my stylist, is the best. he really takes his time with my haircut and it makes such a huge difference. I'm always so happy after my haircuts with him.

I went here for cut and made a huge mistake!!! My hair is very straight and I just wanted a simple Bob cut, but the stylist had no clue what she was doing. She was a trainee (with one year of experience) but her teacher was there all the time. At the end the teacher, an experienced stylist and ?one of the best in Trio? even corrected some small mistakes and praised my stylist. It was looking OK after drying, but few days after it was horrible. Somehow she managed to make my freshly cut-hair look frizzy and dry! And I wanted my hair to be a bit longer at the front, but she ignored that. She was nice and friendly, but also trying all the time to sell their expensive products. The rest of the staff was not very friendly, pretty arrogant! Everybody?s so ?cool?, there?s music, nice interior, but is that what you want from your hair salon? DON?T GO THERE!

I've been blonde for years and I love it but I was so ready to do something different. I really wanted to stay blonde so Reese suggested adding a subtle splash of color with fusion extensions. It's absolutely beautiful!!! I have blue eyes so he picked out a really light shade of sky blue, it accentuates my eyes and blonde hair perfectly. Not everybody notices it right away which is exactly how I wanted it. I'm so excited to have something unique but still be blonde- and it's something I can wear to work and out at night but not flashy or clubby which is definetly not my style. It's perfect!! I had a disgusting service from Tricoci leaving my hair YELLOW. I went to Trio to get a fix before my wedding. Kate, who is a student, re-did my highlights beautifully! The color was exactly what I wanted. It means something when your colorist listens to what you want and then can actually do it! I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks, Kate!

I'm new to the city so I checked citysearch to find salons in my neighborhood. After reading great reviews for Trio I booked and appointment for highlights and a haircut at the Wicker Park location. Cate did my color and aaron cut my hair. I've never had my color look this natural before, not stripey or chunky, she did exactly what I asked for and it looks beautiful!! Aaron was awesome, he made my long boring layers look fabulous! I even got a compliment walking down the street after I left! I'll definetly be coming back and I've referred a few girls from the office as well! Great Job, Thanks Trio!

I just saw Cate to fix my color a couple of weeks ago, I went to a very well known salon in the city for highlights just before leaving town for my wedding!!!!!!! Horrible, awful, I'm a natural brunette and my highlights were brassy, orangey stripes. When I pulled my hair back everything around my face was blonde!!! I called a friend desperate to find someone who could fix it and she gave me Trio's number and told me I HAD to see Cate. I got an appointment at the last minute and she was amazing! We talked about what happened and went over a few options to pick the best end result for me. I can't believe how beautiful my hair looked when I walked out of there, AMAZED! I was so panicked because of my situation and everyone there were so helpful and friendly. I'm recommending Trio to everyone looking for beautiful, natural color and a well trained, friendly and talented staff. Pros! Truly talented!

Ashley cuts my hair at Trio's Wicker Park Salon, she's so sweet and I've been so happy with my haircut everytime. It's a great atmosphere, everyone is so friendly and It's a really comfortable space - the staff is fun and you can tell everyone gets along really well! I left my usual Lincoln Park salon and was referred to ashley by a friend and am truly satisfied. I get compliments regularly! I recommend her 100%.

Based on the hype surrounding this place, I would not be surprised if most of the positive reviews on here are planted and fake. I went here for color -- very straightforward lightening from brown to light brown -- and the colorist (who supposedly was experienced) had no clue what she was doing. It was absolutely horrible and I let them know that I was unhappy. They actually ended up trying to bring back some semblance of my original color and my hair ended up BLACK. I left the salon in tears. Horrible, rude, inexperienced staff make for a VERY BAD result! I do NOT recommend Trio to anyone!

Don't be put off by his name-Blu is the best colorist in the city! I never thought it was that difficult to cover my grey, but several colorists at other high-end salons always made my hair black, and without dimension. After seeing Blu one time, I'm 100% loyal. Blu recomended that we heavily highlight my hair to create a "lighter" look by breaking up the dark hair that I had. He took the time to consult with me regarding my skin tone, eye color, health of my hair as well as my desired look. I was a little hesitant because I've never had highlights, and was scared he would make me a blonde. Wow, was I impressed. He made my dark hair look like a beautiful chestnut brown with subtle and natural dimension. I feel years younger, look fresher and have never had so many compliments on my color. I will be back to Blu every four weeks for as long as I live in Chicago!

I can't believe how many good reviews there are for this place. I've been three times to three different stylists because I thought I was just having bad luck. They talk a good game and maybe they have some credentials (although not all of them do; check this out carefully), but they're totally out of touch. No one can do anything modern. Beyond that, the employees are just so rude and you'll wait forever. They act is if they are doing you a favor. Worst of all, 2 out of the 3 times I have been there, they have "run out of" hot water and washed my hair with cold water. OW! Anyway, I can't recommend a thing about the place. There are better options in this city.

I have not received as many compliments on a haircut as I did when Chris Grummel from Trio cut my hair. I loved it! Chris your Awesome! I love your enthusiasm it assures me of a great job! My husband also got his haircut done and He looks HOT, Chris knew right away what his trouble spots were, fixed them and made him look like a new man, with a great haircut! Go see Iwen at Trio for beautiful color!!! Iwen has a great eye for color, and will only do what you are 100% comfortable with. She is extremely talented and not to mention the sweetest girl on the planet. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a wonderful colorist and person!

TRIO SALON ON NORTH AVENUE IS A FUNKY AND CHILL PLACE TO GET YOUR HAIR DONE. IWEN DID AN AMAZING JOB ON MY COLOR AND I AM FOR SURE COMING BACK!!! SHE WAS SO KNOWLEDGABLE AND REALLY CARED ABOUT WHAT I WANTED TO DO WITH MY HAIR, I FELT AT EASE THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH. THE STAFF AND FRONT DESK WERE GREAT AS WELL. TRIO ROCKS AND I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!!!

I'm not typically one to give recommendtions but.... I just arrived in Chicago from Seattle. I loved my hair colorist back there and was very nervous about trying someone new. I saw Blue upon a recommendation from this site and from the receptionist at Trio. I must say....he did not disappoint. I LOVE my hair even more than I did before. He took me in a very new direction, added wonderful depth and dimension while keeping me a 'true blond'. I love it, have received tons of compliments and have found my very new favorite colorist. He's fabulous. Go see him (but don't take my appointment! :))

Yesterday I had two hair appointments, one at Trio(cut) and one at Art+Science(dye). Although my fellow yelper's were adamant regarding Art+Science, I preferred and will only be going back to Trio.
My hair was cut by the very talented, Chad. He understood exactly what I wanted and tamed the beast, otherwise known as my "Is Fro." He straightened my hair to the point that the people at Art+Science thought it was naturally straight. He'd get five stars just for that. He made sure that my Vidal Sassoon inspired cut (picture coming soon) ended exactly at shoulder length and my new wispy bangs skimmed my eyes. He worked in the utmost care and perfected every detail. I love the teacher-student environment and enjoyed that, Jerry (instructor) made helpful pointers along the way and the result ended in a fabulous new cut. My hair was cut a good 7 inches bangs were added and my new one length cut is going to get miles out of it. Go to Chad, he's amazing! If you have hard to deal with hair, he will be able to make you look fabulous.
BTW; the salon itself is very nice, great music playing, nice staff and eveyrone genuinly looks like they are loving their job. Five stars, no doubt.

I have never let the same person cut my hair more than once until the day I walked into Trio Salon over two years ago. Aaron cut my hair that day and has ever since because he proved himself to be not only well educated as a hairdresser but his talent is also endless. He ia always able to execute my hair style requests simultaneously displaying his own artistic expression.
With the trust that was built over time I allowed Aaron to take my hair from waist length to a very short hairstyle that receives a plethora of compliments. Finding someone you can trust these days is rare. Aaron is one of the few people I trust and as a result, will always be my hairdresser.

I have been going to Renata for color for about a year and she is FABULOUS! She always listens to what you want for color and is always open to changing things up if you want to try something new. Renata really knows her color! I've received many compliments on my hair color since I have been going to Renata. Besides that, Renata herself is warm and friendly and fun to be in her chair for an hour of my day.

To those looking for a great haircut at an affordable price, GO TO TRIO ON MONDAYS!!! Chris was so nice (and cute) to me and did a fantastic job!! I was a bit skeptical at first, but his explanation (with a second opinion from his instructor) and finish will get me back into his chair again!! I have long hair (middle of my back) and like it somewhat layered. Only getting my hair cut 3-4 times a year, I didn?t want too much taken off. Chris showed me that my ends really needed to be cut more so I let him do it and WOW, my hair has never felt better!! The cuts are $20 and everyone is so nice (no attitude at this salon). Thanks Chris, I will be back!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: Parking (watch your meter, it takes longer than a regular service)
