Many Quincy high schoolers who are not cut out for a traditional four-year college experience opt for John Wood. This is fine for those not hoping to transfer to a four-year institution. However, John Wood is a community college that doesn't necessarily provide the best preparation to transfer to mor quality-focused institutions.

John Wood Community College is growing by leaps and bounds with Illinois and the federal government investing more and more money in community colleges. The problem with many of them (and John Wood in particular) is that quality is not necessarily the focus. Students who attend here are not very well prepared to continue into regional four year colleges and tend to have a hard time adjusting . If you're going for a two year terminal degree, then fine. But if looking for a four year continuing degree, look elsewhere.
