A hidden gem

May St. Cafe is in an offbeat location, but it is worth it. The place is small and personal, so it can fill up quickly (they do take reservations). The food is the reason to go. It is Latin American fare, and offers everything from traditional fajatas to a variety of seafood dishes. Be prepared to wait awhile for your food though, since the chef makes everything from scratch. He also makes it a point to visit with the patrons of the restaurant. Service can vary. Friends have always been impressed when I have brought them there. It is also BYOB. Prices are about $15-20 for an entree.
PROS: Excellent, fresh food with great sauces.
CONS: Not for impatient people.
