I had been wanting to check out this store for a long but being 60 plus miles away in Chicago made it difficult. On Saturday Oct. 17, 2015 i decided that i would make the trip but decided to phone them first to find out what time they closed. I phoned the store and when the man answered, I asked what time they close. He informed me that they were opened until 4:00pm on Saturdays. I drove there from Chicago arriving at the store at approx. 3:25pm. as I exited my car and walked toward the front door, I noticed that the store looked dark inside. I read the store hours on the front door and reaffirmed that they were indeed open until 4pm. I open the front door and walk in and there is a man and woman behind the front counter. The woman says "Can I help you. were closing. I state "your closing? I phoned first and was told you were open until 4. It's taken me an hour and a half to get here from the north side of Chicago" She looks at me as if i'm invisible and says "Well were closing because we don't have any customers". I am about in shock at this point. What am I? Chopped Liver. I've phoned first to verify your hours, driven 60 plus miles one way and now they wouldn't even turn the lights on so I could look around. I have never been treated so badly by any business in my 53 years and would not recommend anyone give a dime of your money to a business that thinks so little of their customers. I wasn't asking them to stay open late. I was only asking that they stayed open until the time they quoted me on the phone and the time stated on there front door. Especially since I had just driven 60 plus miles to give them my business. Insiderpages requires that I give them one star but they are not even worthy of that. Edward Zoller

I have been here a few times now... never had a good experiance. Everything is over priced and the temperature as well as the people are simply cold. I kinda get the feeling that any positive post about this place are from the owners themselves. I seriously do not think that its everyone else that cannot get along with the owners... its the owners that are fools. I am amaised this place can keep on going.

I don't know who these people are that complain about the Castle Antique store. I feel sorry for them I guess they can not get along with anybody. We have been going there for quite a few years and have found nothing but very nice and polite people that work there or own the place. The beautiful blonde that is the owner's daughter is about the most pleasent person I have met in a long time. I think these people that are complaining are just unhappy people.

WOW!! Is this place for real? Did this really happen?? I walked into the store around 3:30. Apparently they were closing at 4. I believe I just encountered the same blonde haired demon the rest of the users posting on here have had the misfortune of meeting as well. I walked through the door, she took one look at me and told me "we're closing, you're going to have to leave." I asked what time they closed and she said 4. I asked "don't I have 30 minutes then?" and she replied "yeah but there's a lot of stuff to look at and you won't have time to look through it all" and ushered me out the door. Not surprisingly, I too got into a shouting match with her like other reviewers. At one point she told me to "go on get" like I was some kind of flea. I said she should really try attempting to work on her customer service and she had so much nerve she even called me a *itch! My jaw dropped. I couldn't believe it!! I would NEVER shop here after that. Needless to say I took my happy self down to Indian Oaks and spent $150 on some beautiful Fenton pieces all within an hour and I didn't even get to look through all of that store either. Whoever said you needed to look through the WHOLE store to buy something? I may be younger but one should not judge a book by its cover... whoever you are lady, you need a serious attitude adjustment. Antiquing is supposed to be a fun hobby and she totally isn't fit for the business. Or any at all. Period. Don't go here!! Not even worth one star.

Well, If it makes any of you all feel any better....I had an outright shouting match with the "younger" woman at the counter. She was the rudest woman I have ever come across in a business in recent memory. I really do not know how they stay in business and I feel sorry for the the people that rent any space from them. I guess that is why Indian Oaks down is packed to the brim. People like that really should not be in the Antique business, they take all of the joy out of it!

Agree with other posters, sad to say. My girlfriend and I stopped in one day last fall and were treated to the purse seizure also. We were told we had to lock up our "big bags" and were treated to a surreal, prison like "hand-them-over" experience!

However, we noted that a husband and wife couple came in shortly after, and were not treated to the same indignity, even though her purse was much larger than either of ours.... I wonder if we looked like thieves or if they felt that women with a man are more trustworthy? I was tempted to come back another time with my husband and see what might happen to my "bag" then, but the overall experience was so negative I just decided to never return.

Best bet - go around the corner to Indian Oaks which is always a great time!

ok. I'm not the only one! I spotted this store on my way to the Farm and Fleet store. It was a day that I had somewhat of a brain freeze and left the house without cash. It happens. It was a big open space with isles of shelving, not like most antique stores with inviting little booths. Also, no other home goods like candles that some of my other stores have. I was there a while though, looking at everything and finally took a small inexpensive item to the counter and asked if I could use credit. Boy, did they hate that. They said I would have to spend more and they won't take Discover(a universally hated card). I left and never went back.

This establishment doesn't even rank high enough for a rating. The old woman who tends to the counter is RUDE, AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I am an avid collector and have much respect for antiques, I know my business. We were told that we are not allowed to touch anything because we could break it. I was very interested in some particular camera pieces (of which were broke and poor quality anyways) I needed to examine further, but was not allowed to touch. We were treated and talked to like we were a bull in a china store. I am in the antique business and I plan to keep spreading the word about how the hired help is destroying potential buyers. Definitely their LOSS, I had come from far away to shop and purchase. Instead, we walked out and will never return. RATING IS ZERO

I have to agree with most on here, the people that work at this place are ridiculous. I am surprised the place manages to stay in business...

This Sunday was my day to have some fun antique shopping. We went to Indian Oaks first and had a good experience as always. We decided to stop at Castle Antiques. What a mistake. As we walked in the door I was "ordered" to lock up my "big" purse (which wasn't very big) or leave it in the car. This was done a very demeaning tone. I thought she was kidding. She said no and stated my purse was "open" and implied I was going to steal something. We decided to just leave and she said "good". This was really a very scary experience and this lady/worker?/owner? must be turning people away at the door by droves. We won't make this mistake again.

I've been in the Castle Antique Mall several times now. Each time, I felt like I was stalked by the female owner up and down every isle. I really felt uncomfortable and the situation was spooky. Especially since the store temperature was near freezing. I had to go outside in 40 degree temperature just to get warm. The lighting was extremely dim; so I don't know if they can't afford to pay the bill or what...but I'm sure every customer has the same experience. Anyway, I have purchased some things in the store, but I definately won't go back because of the heat, lighting, and especially the "stalker" feeling.

Very rude customer service. On a recent visit, I was actually told by the owner, not to come back to the store because I did not purchase anything. To call this store an Antique Mall is a misnomer. It is actually a junk store filled garage sale type items.
