I had a bad experience at this salon, and would caution others to make sure you know the nail tech is competent and taking proper sanitary measures. Not only was the experience disappointing, I got a skin infection from the salon.
My 10 year old daughter wanted to get manicures and pedicures together as a special treat - something we've never done before. We live in a small town, so we drove 50 miles ($30 gas!) to Springfield so we could sit together and enjoy some pampering at a salon. The salon said we could get our manis & pedis together, at the same time. Although we sat in the pedi chairs together, my daughter got hers first, then they made her sit in the front drying area by herself. A young boy (about 11) was filling the foot basins at the salon and several people, including my daughter, had either ice cold or burning hot water which needed to be adjusted to be tolerable. The tech forgot(?) that we had both scheduled manis as well, and when my pedi was done she insisted I sit in the only mani station where the seat next to it was already occupied. I repeatedly reminded them that we came to L A Nails to enjoy some mother-daughter time and they previously told us we could sit together. There were 3 or 4 other open mani stations side-by-side, but the nail tech still refused to allow us to sit together. Then my daughter had to wait even longer for a nail tech to free up, because hers was taking care of someone else rather than following through on her mani. The sign said it would take 1 hour 15 min. for a mani & pedi, but we were there for over 2.5 hours, so we did not have time to do everything we'd planned for our trip. Much of the time was spent waiting.
My nail tech was very unfriendly. At first I thought she couldn't speak English, but then she answered any nail questions I had in very good English. A few seconds later, if I said or asked anything not nail related, the nail tech ignored me, didn't even make eye contact or try to communicate with me. I honestly felt like she disliked me and treated me in a very condescending manner. I'm used to small talk when I get hair services and have never encountered anyone who treated me so rudely!
Then I almost cried - I normally have very long nails but a few were uneven. The nail tech asked if she could "even up my nails" and I, regrettably, agreed. Before I could say anything else, she very quickly and completely cut all of my fairly long nails back shorter than my fingertips! Not one of my nails was anywhere near as long as even the shortest one had been before she chopped them off! Each nail was now shorter than the end of my fingertip. When polished they looked ridiculous because they were so short. Thank goodness I told my daughter's nail tech to go easy on her. He didn't even trim her nails or cuticles, but her short nails ended up being longer then mine, and she didn't leave with any cuts or sores like I did. When I left the salon, I noticed that the nail tech had cut my skin around my cuticles on several fingers and toes, leaving open sores.
The next day, my toe started to swell with infection. That was 17 days ago. I'm on my 2nd course of antibiotics.
When I returned to the salon to complain, the nail tech on duty examined my toe and said my nail tech appeared to have cut out an ingrown toenail, which she did to herself all the time, and it would heal just fine. I protested that my toenail hadn't been ingrown, that I hadn't consented to having my skin cut, and I had never experienced any pain until the pedicure. Not only that, but you go to a doctor to cut out an ingrown toenail, not a nail technician who is not trained or licensed for such procedures.
I've since learned that hepatitis can be transmitted through a skin cut if proper sanitary procedures are not followed. The hepatitis virus can survive for 7 days in even dried blood if tools aren't properly sanitized. I did not see how the salon sanitized their tools, but I'm concerned since they cut me so many times, I'm sure other clients have also been cut. My doctor advised I file complaints with the State. I am in the process of doing so.
The nail tech I had was younger, and I assume inexperienced or not knowledgeable. The first nail tech my daughter had was a middle aged man who seemed more competent and much nicer. If you go to this salon, be careful!

La Nails is an excellent nail salon. They are always very friendly and do an excellent job. I go there every couple weeks and get my nails filled and am always satisified. It is also very reasonably priced. Around $17 to have them filled with a french manicure.

La Nails is an awesome place to get pedicures and manicures. They do great work and it lasts forever. They can even do wonderful flower designs on your toes. They have airbrushing also. They do a very good job and making your feet very soft and they also massage when they do pedicures and manicures. The staff is very friendly and it is inexpensive. I will not go anywhere else in Springfield for a pedicure. They do the best work!
