Working downtown, it's hard to find quick, GOOD food at a decent price. La Cocina delivers excellent service and good authentic Mexican food.. now, if only they actually delivered (hint hint).

It does get crowded at lunchtime, but if you plan on eating there, they usually manage to get a table for you by the time your food is served. You can also phone your order in & simply pick-up.

Great food at a decent price in the loop. I really recommend it. The Wells location also gets you a lot of "sweetie" and "honey" which can make a bad day much better.

Pros: Great service and tasty food.

Cons: Can get really busy at noon, go early or call to pick up

La Cocina is a decent Mexican restaurant for lunch in the loop. Portions can be a little small, and the food tends to be a bit salty. Quick lunch spot if you want to grab some Mexican food with a couple co-workers.

Working downtown and being a latina (Mexican) I find it hard to find restaurants that have good Mexican food...then I ate at La Cocina. Love it! I'm also very happy to hear that La Cocina will be opening up a new location on Franklin between Lake and Randolph (which is kiddy corner to my work:-). Needless to say the food is very yummy, the people are very friendly, and, therefore, I highly recommend this restaurant.

On another note, I noticed that there was a negative review from a Jennifer K. from Texas. I don't know what nationality you are but Texas does NOT have authentic mexican food. So for you to say you are a snob about your mexican food makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I believe what you've had was Texmex you moron.

PROS: Good music and friendly atmosphere.
CONS:

This place makes the absolute worst Mexican food Ive ever eaten, and Ive had some nasty Mexican food before. Being originally from Texas, I tend to be a bit of a snob about Mexican food up north. I have yet to taste anything authentic, though many places claim they are. However La Cosinas food was inedible. I ended up throwing mine in the trash, which wasnt a huge deal since it was pretty cheap, but heya girls gotta eat.
