I will never step foot in this club again! From the moment we walked in we were given a hard time. Not only were we promised free entrance til 12am, just to be safe we had each had a text message for free entrance till midnight from 4FANTASICOS. We showed up @ 11:45 but half of us were threaten to pay or we'd be tuned away. Even though the text read FORWARD TO FRIENDS PLZ, the bouncer at the door told if any of the texts were forwarded, we would all have to pay $20 each. We were dropped off by our party bus so we all tried to brush it off since it was our friends birthday and so 6 out of 9 of us (including the birthday girl) paid anyway. Later my boyfriend and I spoke with the V5 manager Oscar(who refused to let us speak with anyone else)to resolve the entrance issue. He was rude and loud when we just wanted an explaination for the false advertisement since we were told we would have free entrance and even had proof to show it. A security guard was walking by and interupted our conversation with a rude statement. I was still calm but so upset that I started to cry because I couldn't believe the way we were being treated. Oscar then appoligized for his rudeness and misunderstanding..offered us free drinks and gave us his number for our troubles. Just when i thought everything was ok, I and my 8 friends had the worst humiliating experience for a very unfair reason...and this was after we had just purchased 2 bottles! One of my friends didn't feel too good since she didn't eat before we arrived. I was told by another friend that she threw up in a small trash can so while I was walking over to get her to the restroom, we were bum rushed by some security guards and were demanded to get out of the club. I politely asked for the manager once again to explain that she was not feeling good since earlier, However... Not only were the staff members un-concerned with our issue, We were agressivally pushed out by security without reasoning. I personally was grabbed by the arms and forcefully pushed out by a female security guard, my boyfriend went to ask what was going on and without responce from anyone, was practically carried out by 2 security guards who forcefully put his head down while he didn't even resist cause he was in shock! Again, before this whole ordeal happened I had just had a discussion with OSCAR, the V5 manager about the false advertisement and he assured me that we would not have any issues the remainder of our night. Finally, after being threatened to wait for our ride across the street (which we had to wait for over 1 hour), I spoke with the general manager who was indifferent to our issue. At this point, I am contacting the Better Business Bureau for how this club and staff treated us. It was very obvious that the staff members were on this power trip and weren't even concerned about how bad they over-reacted! To top if all off, some cops came by and demanded us to walk across the street, since they noticed we were not making a big scene, they left us alone. This was humiliating and I will tell everyone I know NEVER to go to this club again!
After a month and a half of trying to find the best nightclub to throw a huge birthday party at, I came across Transit nightclub. The "events coordinator" is Kelly Wey. Before booking this event I stressed to Kelly about how I was disappointed in the last event I booked at Transit through Brad Altman cause he promised us a VIP section but when we arrived, we never got seated. Kelly said "Oh yeah, we had so many complaints about that because of the previous guy, but we are correcting that so the service is going to be a lot more better and a lot more organized." She even assured me on this. She sold me on it. I booked the b-day bash with her thinking maybe I should give this club another try. I wished I hadn't. She sent me a confirmation e mail stating that there would be a "host to greet" my party and "escort us" to the mezzanine lounge where she reserved couches and seats to seat/stand the majority of our 70+ guests.I was also told via phone that if I ran into any problems, I can go to her cause she was going to be working at the door that night. Sounds good and dandy huh? Yeah.....right. The minute our first party of 30 arrived and stepped out of our limo, we can see awkward facial expressions of the bouncers and workers standing outside from a mile away. They asked us for our party name and skimmed through the VIP list several times acting as if our reservations didn't even exist. After 5 whole minutes of checking out the two paged VIP sheet they FINALLY saw our reservations on the VERY FIRST line of page 2. An asian chick at the door then told us that only the 30 of us would be honored free admission. (It was 11:00pm) According to Kelly's email and their website, free admission would be honored until 11:30pm. So we get inside, we're standing around like freaking idiots (where the hell was this host that was suppose to "greet" and "escort" us to our area? I had to ask for one! Already frustrated, I asked for Kelly Wey and after checking in with their walkie talkie or headsets (whatever it was) you know what they told me? "Kelly's not working tonight." So then our host escorts us to our area (the table in the middle of the room with bar stools) it sure as hell didn't look like couches to me so I helped myself and went over to a "reserved" table that had the couches. We sat down and the host brought our complimentary champagnes. As soon as he left, a dude that was either cleaning or working at the bar behind us, came over and took away our cups/glasses! (Now how the hell were we supposed to drink the champagne??? Chug the damn bottle?) I went back downstairs to complain to one of the guys by the entrance. He apologized and went to take care of it for me. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worst, I find out one of my friend that came with us on the limo was stuck outside because he was wearing white sneakers. I was trying to find every reason why it should be an exception because it wasn't like he can drive home and change! For crying out loud we got dropped off by a limo! As I was trying to explain this, 5 white guys walked right past me and into the club with the same type of white sneakers they wouldn't let my friend get in with! Now what kind of crap is that? (At this point, I started to think this was a racial discrimination). So here I go again looking for someone that could maybe help me out with the situation. Again I mentioned Kelly's name. And guess what? Someone pointed her out to me. Kelly Wey (the events coordinator that "was not working" was working at the freaking bar! They lied to me! How insulting!. I was pist! Trying to see a better side of things I went up to Kelly at the bar, explained who I was, and told her about the situation hoping she would help me out. She had the nerves to say " I'm sorry I can't do anything right now, I'm working the bar". I swear if I didn't about the consequences, I would have done more than just smack her! I will never go to Transit again! Their service sucks! I guess Transit wasn't meant to welcome Asians! With no other choice we gave them over $1400.00 of business and they can choke on that because that's all they're gonna get! Transit has the worst VIP service ever! We never intend to return to this unprofessional facility.
Beware if you are going to have your birthday party @ Transit!!!!
Do not do it! They over book people & they NEVER give you enough room for your group. I was told we were going to have a roped off VIP area...we didn't get it! A small corner with 1 couch was all we got after we told them we were expecting 35 people! How embarassing!!! As the night progressed, strangers were hanging out on our "VIP"area. There was NO ONE there to tell them it's a "VIP area". Fend for yourself!!! The contact guy "Brad", who by the way even knows if his real name is that? Never met me @ the party after he said he would...he said "his grandma was sick that's why he didn't meet us"? Ok, insult me even more...as if I grew up under a rock. "Brad despite of being "invincible", had good efforts & connection over the phone & internet to get my business, but when it comes face-to-face...he was not there? Makes me wonder if he really was @ the club but just decides not to tell the guests?
Pictures on the internet says it's newly renovated, makes you think it's upscale, clean.....surprise!!!! IT IS NOT!!!! Chairs & couches are stained! We were told we were gonna have our own waitress, but instead we had a busboy..who by the way was probably the only one working the floors that night! He tried his best & busted his rump! You would think that after buying 3 bottles of alcohol @ almost $190 a piece for our party, we would get better service!?
NO --we didn't! After they got our money...no one from management came by to see if we were ok! All they want your money!!!! Don't be fooled!!!! There are other better bar, clubs, lounges who have way better customer service & CHEAPER ALCOHOL & bottle service in Chicago....Also FYI, there was a very rude, egomaniac man named "Mike" who was the contact guy for the alcohol inquiries...don't bother talking to him. Very arrogant over the phone, as if it was "my priviledge" to speak to him! So unprofessional!
DO NOT PICK THIS PLACE FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY. Also, the clientel that frequents TRANSIT are very "urban" maybe some even ghetto. If that is your cup of tea.......it' s all good then.
One thig for sure though...the MUSIC WAS GOOD!!! Thumbs up!!!
So just for a regular night out.....Transit is ok...it will satisfy your "clubbing/dancing hunger" but for a classy nite out to celebrate your special day with friends.....BEWARE---DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF HAVING IT HERE!!!!!! Go somewhere else, where your business is appreciated & the staff is curteous & attentive!!!!
Transit is great. I go here on Fridays and it gets packed with hot girls. Most of the people that go here are Hispanic. You will see a few Asians from time to time. The drinks are not overpriced like at other major nightclubs. They have three rooms where you can go and dance to a different rythm after you get tired of something. There is a lot of variety at this place. You cannot wear polos here, you make sure you have a nice dress shirt. I wish I would have known that before. I got turned around once. Also there's also this guys selling hot dogs outside the club in case that you get hungry, just go outside for a bit and get some hot dogs, or just wait until you get out, but don't wait too long because once everyone comes out the hot dogs run out quick.
I've been to Transit several times over the years and it's always been okay (not fabulous, just okay). Hadn't gone in a few years so I decided to go there for my 26th bday. It had a better deal than some other place. We got everything we were promised and Arthur (manager) made sure things were all good. I personally didn't have a problem that night so I'll probably go back again sometime. If you want street parking, get there early. On a side note about the neighborhood: some fool from out of town called this a "rough" neighborhood in another post. Somebody tell him he's an idiot and he doesn't know what "rough" means. It's a business and industry district, not a crime-laden inner-city street.
Pros: Decent service, good music
Cons: Parking sucks if you don't get there early
