Pontiac Township High School

I am a mother of 4 and one of my sons is a senior,he played football for about 9 yrs.He made all conference last yr.and didn't get to hardly play this year,I do believe the guys really had a shot at winning state,but some coaches thought they would ruin a couple of kids careers by doing stupid things in practice for them to get hurt!So they didn't go far.It's all in who you know at pths and hows butt your gonna kiss up to,to be anything,that's the gods honest truth,from a mom that's been there and we are middle class people but my kids don't need to suck up they are as good as anyone out there,so give all kids a chance!!!

I used to be a student at P.T.H.S back in the 80's.I also was born and raised in Pontiac,Illinois.My children are now students in that school.The way school and teachers are today to compare when I was in school is right down horrible,especially if you are a low income family and a minority.As a child,growing up here I really didn't know about racism or what prejudisim was, now that's all you see.In this school some teachers,not all,but majority of them don't take the extra time to help students that really need the help,they basically pick and choose who they want to help which usually consist of their own family members that attend this school,the jocks,and people that have money.I've been involve with schools for an average 10-12years.Over the years the school system has progressed to worse,really this whole community has gone down hill.Here's an observation,look at the school stats on the percentage of the white ,spanish,african american,and asians,then look at the drop out rate and how many white students are drop outs.Community wise,here's another observation,the down town area.The stores,restaurants,other local business that surround the court house those businesses don't employ minorities unless the minority owns its own business or the businesses do their good deed of the year and allow the county to let people that have been in trouble by the law serve their community service in or around their establishment.Personally I believe that a state representative needs to come to Pontiac,IL and do a SURPRISE investigation not only in our schools,but the police department,the court house,Department of children services,etc..It's a dang shame that some of these children aren't getting the education that they all well deserve.In conclusion my opinion is at one time I thought it was the greatest place to raise my family here,now I encourage my children to move out of this community when they are old enough to be on their own,not to make the same mistake I did in planting my roots here because its been my children that suffer and has suffered for my decisions.I hope that the opinion of a native of this community will help others to decide!

I went to PHS when I was in HS and I found that the school was very horrible. The teachers were pervertes and the lunch contsantly had bugs in it.I would not recommend any student to go there.

PROS: A lot.
CONS: NONE!!!!

I went here for high school and found it to be an ok experience. I didn't find that many teachers took interest in my studies. Everyone was also stereotypical.

Both of my kids went to PTHS. I found it to be an overall pretty good school. Nice clean building. Teachers also seem to care about their students. Several sports programs to get involved in.
