This website doesn't seem to offer me the option of withdrawing my review. Unfortunate events since Rocky's death has led me to change my prior opinion of Dr. Ness's actions with regard to Rocky. I have just rewritten the review, and this is all that I care to say at this time.

Before I post my little review, I have to say that I am frankly shocked by the absolute absurdity of some of the negative reviews. I am a savvy consumer, and most of the comments in the negative reviews are not true or are absurdly hyperbolic. Dr. Ness and his staff are the best!

We have been to countless vets for our ferrets. The majority of whom lacked compassion, knowledge, or experience. Dr. Ness is compassionate, experienced, and knows ferrets like the back of his hand. We drive over an hour just to see him, and if he was two hours away we would make the trip as well. I have only taken our ferrets to him, but would take any other pet to him in a heartbeat. He is a wonderful vet, and probably one of the best in the state of Illinois... If not the nation.

I took my animal here due to the fact that it was not only highly recommended but there were not a lot of vets in the area who saw my kind of pet. ( I'm trying to be kept anonymous this is why i don't mention who my pet was sorry if it seems insensitive but i assure you i am torn over my loss). We saw Dr. Jim A, and he did the surgery to spay my animal and everything seemed to go ok with the exception the place is very pricey. months later my little one got sick and wouldn't eat, i made an app and he was very nonchalant about it said my pet looked ok and nothing seemed wrong, he could do blood work or i could try some herbal meds. i thought it was kind of odd but he is the Dr. so i went with it and got the herbal stuff, still next day not eating its now going on 2 days, i call back and I'm given some other type of meds to make her go to the bathroom but if shes not eating hows that work i thought, but again went with the one who has exp. still no result so now i find myself picking up more meds and taking her back to get blood work done, something did show up in the blood work but I really got no answers at all as to why or what it was or caused it, just an antibiotic. than i was told to bring her back in a week for a recheck to see if she gained her weight back. after taking the antibiotic she seemed fine almost immediately and for the next two weeks she was normal until one day i was called home because she passed away. I was going back and forth on taking her in for the recheck but was going to make the appt for that weekend. from what im told by other ppl who have the same kind of animal i had they are saying it was not handled correctly by the vet and the not eating should have been taking way more serious. I should not have been told the recheck could wait and should have been told the blood work needed to be done on 1st visit. im not trying to put the blame on this place at all, that wont bring her back im just stating in my opinion im very disappointed on how things were handled. also all the assistants that work there did not seem that exp at all in the exotic pet area if they are i apologize but with my pet everyone I spoke to said they had no exp with them. one person was actually in training and dropped my little one. I was also talked down to by one of the recipients. she was also insensitive to callers as i was standing there. Its sad that the cost of exotic pet vets are super exp. a reg office visit is $60.

All of these reviews speak the truth, his compassion is beyond words. When we've had chinchilla emergencies, physical & emotional, he treated them with care. I love the he combines traditional and holistic medicine.
I wish he took care of people, too!

My husband and I went with our two babies, rats, to the open house at their new location at 1007 Maple Ave in Lisle. We have been seeing Dr. Ness for quite some time now and have found him to be a very loving and caring doctor.
Onto my experience, right in the middle of the open house celebration my one baby passed a blood clot through her vaginal opening. Dr. Ness didn't hesitate to take action and care of her, and us. He was very patient with us and we can't thank him enough!!!

You could not ask for a better doctor for your pet. I've dealt with Dr. Ness for many years & he is by far the best ever!!! I would never go anywhere else. He treats your pets as if they were his own and gives top notch quality care. I have alot of birds & he's given the best possible care to every one of them when needed. There has been a few times when I had seen Dr. Wilkerson because Dr. Ness wasn't available on that certain day & I have to say, she has given excellent care also. The whole staff is fantastic! Thank you so much Dr. Ness & staff for caring the way you do! You are the best & I want everyone out there to know it!

I took my ferrets to Dr. Ness years ago when he was in Westchester, and he's still a fantastic vet. He did surgery on my ferret for a hairball and was not only very skilled, but compassionate and understanding as well. I'd highly recommend visiting him at his new location in Lisle.
