My mother had not been to Stir Crazy in Oak Brook, I thought it was very good in the past and wanted to take her for a nice dinner. I was so disappointed. I sat at the bar waiting for others in our dinner party and sat for 15 minutes

We have enjoyed many nice dinners at Stir Crazy over the years, and we especially enjoy the make your own meal bar and watching the chefs cook in front of you. HOWEVER, about a year ago we saw an employee putting vegetables into the food bar with their bare hands. We complained to the manager how this was unsanitary. We recently went back and saw an employee at the food bar moving around garbage cans by the food bar and then (without washing his hands) use his hands to put vegetables from the larger canisters on to the food bar containers. We complained to the manager who said that was legal in Illinois. After contacting the food inspectors for DuPage County, we did find out that is was OK for them to touch the food with bare hands if it was going to be cooked (yuck), but not OK for the garbage can to be by the food bar. On their inspection of the restaurant, they did get a violation for an employee eating from the food bar while refilling it and touching other food. The garbage can was not there during the inspectin. They need to change this law.

I love this place. There are so many possibilities. You can either create your own stir fry or order off the menu. I've always had good service and The food is great.

Food: Good. I had the Thai Curry Bowl with chicken, wonderful! The rice was perfect and the curry creamy and full bodied without too much heat. My friend had Double Pan Fried Noodles - she wasn't impressed. We also had PotStickers, I'm not a big fan of this dish, but they were ok - not soggy.

Selection: I was surprised at the variety. Something for everyone as different Asian cultures were respresented.

Service: Quick and friendly, although our server looked out the window the entire time.

$: Good value, portions were moderate in size. Bill and tip around $50 for 2 including alcohol (1 beverage each)and appetizer.

Cleanliness: Looked nice, didn't need the bathrooms.

Ambiance: Not so great, you're typical mall restaurant, busy for the sake of being busy.

Come again: This was my first visit and will probably not go again. OK if you're at the mall and need to eat, but I wouldn't choose to go there. But I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants.

The Woodfield Location has better waitstaff, service, management. Must try the create-your-own stir fry bar. The Mai Tai & Singapore Sling were better than I've had in the city!
