Despite the reviews we saw on the net, Louisa's was fantastic. Excellent service, the owners came to our table to see how we were doing, and the pizza was amazing!!! We will definitely go back again...next time we will have the pasta!

This place has really gone south. It seems to of taken on the personality of a cranky old women, hence the name Louisa's. From the second you come up to the door they have a signs stating no tanks tops on men which I find understandable

When we complained that the chicken was dry, they denied it. Then they got verbally abusive with us. When we left, they followed us into the parking lot and jotted down our license number! Unbelievable!

The pizza is very good but the pasta is even better. Chatting with Louisa was nice. She proudly stated the pasta and the sauce are made fresh daily. And you can tell.

Pros: Attention to detail by the family

Cons: Decor needs a little face-lift

We came for pizza on the recommendation of a local. We were not disappointed. The pizza is in the Unos/Dues tradition, not surprising since Louisa worked for Dues for 25 years. The crust is flaky with serious homemade character. The ingredients (we had sausage, green pepper, onion, mushroom, and garlic) were well distributed and balanced. This was a truly great Chicago style deep dish pizza. We had the extra bonus of sitting next to family friends with Louisa very much part of the group. Being in the mood for fun, we weren't disappointed. The service was courteous and attentive. The dinner salad with house Italian dressing was a bit disappointing, but, as I said, we came for pizza. This place has tons of character and is well worth a visit. Repeatedly.

Cons: cramped quarters

Louisa's is a small, quaint, dark little place - that lures you in - and keeps you there with her food. The pizzas are great Chicago pizza and the pasta options are equally as tasty. Fun place for a small intimate dinner or a group out for a fun evening. Servers make all feel welcome.

I went there on a weekend about 2 weeks ago, and had to wait for a table(15 minutes, not bad). Had a great antipasto salad to start, then me and my date shared an eggplant lasagna and pizza. WOW... We no longer need to go in the city for real Italian food. Pizza is truely unique and a treat, my server informed me that they had won some TV contest on CLTV. The lasagna was light and fresh, definetly not frozen, like a lot of other places. I would recommend it to all!!

We have been regular customers for the last 15 years and love going there. Family is very friendly and fun to talk to. The food is outstanding love the cheese and spinach pizza. It is so nice to see a establishment that the people that own the retaurant oversee everything . And the family is always eating the food themselves.

Had heard about this place but never tried it so on a Saturday night we decided to head over to Louisa's . Got there about 7 the place was packed we did get seated within 15 minutes. We had a nice corner booth in the first room. We ordered a pizza and a Lasagna . We got salad and bread first then they brought out the Lasagna . Took one bit and I wanted to eat the whole order and not share. It was excellent. Next came our pizza we ordered a cheese sausage mushroom pie. I took one bite and said to my husband we have been missing out by not ever coming here. The pizza was delicious. Staff was very friendly, the owners seemed nice or the manager was very nice. I didn't see to many pictures around, I did read the reviews before we went there. It seems like a really nice small family owned Italian Restaurant , that the family still after all these years. We had read on the back of the menu that they have been there for 27 years. After I was done and went t get up to leave I went up to the lady that seated us and asked her if she was family she said yes she was very pleasant , we told her it was our first time and how wonderful everything was. She asked us what we ordered and was just nice. She explained that it is family they are there everyday they cook and you can definetly tell by the food quality it shows that they care about what they serve because her daughter was sitting at the table next to us eating . Highly Recommended

owners are very unfriendly. Staff is just "ok" I can't believe that the waitress have to make their own drinks because there is no bartenders. Salad is very blah and bland and nothing to it except white onions. Who puts white onions on a salad? Too cheap to buy red. No bread with salad. Went during Christmas time figureing there would be nice decorations. One lighted thing in a window, their regular old white lights around the bar and a blue colored old lighted christmas tree picture. the "kicker" was we saw a little "old man" at the bar with his head down on the bar asleep. We asked the waitress what that was all about and she said "that is Louisa, she is tired." Well Louisa, go home and go to sleep, you looked riduculous. Also witnessed a waitress getting "bawled out " in the kitchen very loudly by the owners. Their pizza is very good but not the best I've had. Will order out if necessary and avoid the the rude unfriendly owners of this joint. Also, getting sick of looking at hundreds of pictures of family members. Who cares !

Pros: Good Pizza

Cons: If I'm giving them my business why are they rude ?

The Pizza is FANTASTIC. The service 'ok' at best. The servers seem to reflect the attitude of the owners - 'who cares'. The family that owns the place (always 4-5 of them) are a constant source of entertainment for us. They lounge around the bar - never attempt lift a finger to help .... bus a table, refill a drink, ask about your experience etc. It appears that they are there just to watch the cash register. Despite our friendly attitude, after 20 years of going there about 2-3 times a week, they act like we are complete strangers. When I ONCE commented that the pizza that night was a bit undercooked, the Louisa's grandson seemed annoyed.

I recently had a family event at Louisa's pizza. My grandmother and I were waiting for my uncle and they would not seat us until my uncle arrived. My grandma is 82 and suffered a stroke and they made her stand for about 15 minutes. Anyone in their right mind would be considerate and respectful of the elderly. Not at this place. My grandma said she doesn't want to go back there because she's afraid she'll have to stand.

Cons: Bad customer service

.

IMy family and I had been a customer of Louisa's for over twenty years. We loved their pizza but we never had good servicefrom the staff. Any friends or family would often comment either when we were there or when we were leaving that the service was bad and they weren't friendly. Recently, we had an exceptionally bad experience. I went to Louisa's with my family for my birthday. We ordered pizzas and waited for over an hour for the pizzas. When the waitress came to the table with two of our pizzas, she told us that they forgot to put the third pizza in the oven. She asked if we still wanted it and we of course said yes. She said it would be out in about 20 minutes. No apologies were given for the delay. When we received our bill, we thought there would be some kind of apology or adjustment to the bill but there was not. My husband spoke to Louisa's daughter and explained to her we had been customers of theirs for over 20 years and how we have referred many family and friends to the restaurant. A few moments later, another waiter, not associated with our table, came over to our table and said "Louisa asked me to come over. It is my understanding that you told the waitress to put the third pizza in". We said yes. He said "It is your responsibility to pay for it". We were extremely disappointed. I walked over to Louisa and explained that we would not be coming back to her restaurant. She said to me "I don't care. I have lots of regulars. I don't need you".

Although we will no longer be going there anymore, we will be going to Ricobene's for pizza on 159th Street east of La Grange in Orland Park. They have a phenomenal deep dish pizza surprisingly similar to Louisa's. It's cheaper and the customer service there is outstanding. Try it sometime!

Saw it on CLTV, so I had to check it out. It was fabulous!!! The crust is unreal(butter??)...in addition we had some lasagna with eggplant in it..WOW! I dont know what that fool before me was writeing about...I actually was given the chance to watch hand made pasta being created in the kitchen. But, considering he likes nickys(the dirtiest-smelliest pit of a hell hole I have ever seen) it doesnt surprise me that good food slipped under his grease filled radar. FYI, try Portillos you buffon and after that try Louisas for pizza and pasta!!!!

Ive been eating there for over 10 years because the pizza is good. THe portions from the thinknes to the pizza to the lack of salad is a joke. Their clearly cutting back to save money. I love the pizza but the pasta is nothing special at all. The owner needs to stop trying to push people out so quick. If she wants to sit more people, try adding to the building or get rid of the bar inside. AND MORE APPETIZERS TO MENUE!!!!!!!!!

GREAT PIZZA BAD PASTA BAD SERVICE but these days its so hard to find a good pie..so try theirs

The pizza is great, my favorite. The pasta is homemade which you cant really find anywhere else. After trying their pizza all the others just dont add up. Its not greasy or too cheesy, i think its the pinical of gourmet pizza. The crust isnt too hard, and you can eat this pan pizza without the bottom getting all soggy. Best crust ive had.

We love the pizza it is mouth watering delicious. This place is not a bar at all it is a very charming small family owned Italian restaurant. We eat from there at least 2 times a week and love it. I love the homemade pasta as I dont know of any restaurants that even still make homemade they say it is but it isnt. They truly make the pasta and dough form scratch I have been there numerous times and have seen them rolling it out in the kitchen. You wont be disappointed at all...

After reading all the rave reviews I decided to take my fiance there tonight to see for ourselves. I admit the pizza was better than average, certainly not "THE BEST PIZZA IN THE UNIVERSE" or anything silly like that. It was good. The service was about what I'd expect at a pizza joint/bar. The ambiance sucked. It felt like a dirty cheap bar, not very romantic and not very themed, just blah. Bottom line is, order the pizza, but order it to go!

I go to a community college in Palos Park, and our teacher almost everyday has told us that Louisa's Pizza makes the best pizza ever. So one day me and some buddies decided to try it for ourselves, and she was right the pizza is outstanding. We had a cheese and sausage with fresh mushroom onion and pepper pizza and it was simply delicious. We now go there on a rgular basis and we even run into our teacher there.

I am a frequent Saturday customer of louisas and we cant say enough good things about it. We always order a spinach pizza which is to die for, and we split either a gnocchi or eggplant parmesian, which is absouletly delicious. The salad dressing is also a favorite. And to top off the meal ,we either have a lemon ice which is served in an lemon or a piece cheesecake. Cant say enought good things about this place

The pizza is worth the trip from wherever you are!! Have them add a little garlic and you will agree - you won't find any better. There's also a lot of 'character' in this family owned biz. Pasta is also homemade and awesome...makes you forget all about Atkins!

Pros: price, food

I believe that Louisa's is very overrated. The pizza's quality is not consistent. It depends on what kind of a day Louisa is having. The pasta is adequate, but not outstanding. As far as the service is concerned, all is well if she is not busy. However, don't try to have a relaxing dinner (wine, appetizers, pizza and dessert) on a Friday or Saturday night. The owner actually hangs around your table, glaring, because she wants you to hurry so she can give the table to someone else.
That kind of experience which occurred more than once has caused us to no longer frequent Louisa's.

Louisa's lasagna is the best I've tasted. Homemade pasta with a taste like manna from heaven. Portions are a bit small but well worth a taste. Her pizza is the best around. Made completely from scatch with the freshest ingredients & a beautiful thick crust.. I've had them all & lived in New York so have tasted the best. Louisa's CAN'T be beat !

Pros: Top Notch Food, great service, incredible food

Cons: crowded, not the best parking, a bit pricey

The pizza is the best ever. It doesn't get any better. The crust is light as air, and the flavor is remarkable. The ingredients they use you can tell are top-notch. I would wait all day to get a pizza from here. The also make wonderful homemade pastas that can not be beat.
You wont be disappointed.

I know it takes time to make a good pizza, but after an hour+ wait, and the waitress still got the order wrong!

The pie tasted good, but I'll never visit this place again.

Get some real food servers!

I have ben going to Louisa's for the last 22 years. There pizza is the best in Chicago. The atmosphere is excellent. Where else can you go where you have the owner sit down and talk with you. The frozen pizza's got my football team hooked at college and so with my brothers team. It is the highlight of all of breaks when we come home!

Me and my husband have been told numerous times to visit this establishment if we were ever on the south side. My husband was going to be golfing at Silver Lakes Country Club, and I decieded to meet him at Louisa's after her was done. To our delight everything we ordered was outstanding. The pizza is better than any pizza I have ever tasted in my life. The crust is outstanding. Everything they use you could tell was fresh. The aroma of the food when you walk in is overwhelming, it makes you want to order everything off the menu. The fettucini you could tell was made with homemade noodles and the sauce was delicious. And to top off our meal we had the best lemon ice that was inside a real lemon everything was excellent you wont be disappointed.

The high rating appears to be a case of ballot box tampering. The antipasto is iceberg lettuce, a few onion slices, a little chopped up salami and cheese.

The homemade pasta is ok, but not worth driving in from out of town. The sauce is also ok: seems to be roma tomatos simmered down in the northern Italian style.

small portions... went to Wendy's afterwards

My husband and I are hooked on the Pizza. It too reminds me of Uno's Pizza and I always loved their pizza. It is so nice to have a good restaurant in south suburban Chicago. My daughter and son-in-law are also hooked. Kudo's to the owners..they do a fine job.

EVER HEAR OF A PIZZA PLACE THAT ONLY OFFERS ONE TYPE OF PIZZA? THIS PLACE DOES. YOU ORDER PIZZA AND ONLY HAVE TO TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT ON IT. I WOULD CALL IT A CROSS BETWEEN A THIN AND DEEP DISH THAT HAS TO BE EXPERANCED. IT IS EXCELLENT! 5 STARS!

Excellent pizza !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a big name pizza restaurant , but it definetly one of the best. They do no advertising and thank goodness otherwise this place would be overly mobbed. They have the best crust and eveything s fresh and they only use the best quality ingredients, and you can tell from the first bite of the pizza.
