The exhibits here are beautifully presented, and interesting. I have been here a handful of times, and have always enjoyed it. I love the collection of renascence religious artwork, and the armory. It's very interesting to see all of those ancient weapons in one place.

My advice is Arrive early; you'll be here for a while.

The Art Institute of Chicago contains many beautiful works of art. It will take a full day to see everything the museum has to offer but I love that each culture and time period in art history has its own space at the museum. As I said it will take a full day to view everything but if you want you can do a room at a time over a span of days in order to get the full impact.

I've only been to one Art Museum and that is the Art Institute of Chicago. I wasn't really wanting to go but my wife drug me there anyway. Surprisingly, I actually had a good time. It was neat to see paintings such as Seurat's paintings that I have been fascinated with every since I saw them in books and TV. The kids enjoyed looking at the art as well. Overall, we had a surprisingly good time. Admission was $12 for adults and $7 for kids. Tuesdays are free!

Do you like art? This is the place for you. Located on Michigan Avenue, you have African, Asian, European art to Modern Art. They also have Monet to Van Gogh. They building itself is large and spacious. Kids may not enjoy and may become restless but if you are an art lover, this is the best Art Museum in the midwest. There is good parking and they also have a nice resturant that you can eat in the courtyard.

This is the only art museum that Ive ever been to, so although I really dont have anything to compare it to, I really enjoyed this museum. I loved the way the Institute is set up, they have all of the different styles of art in different sections, so you can take a quick glance until you like what you see and then venture in for more. I love photography and I was so impressed with the exhibits they had set up in that section. Actually I was impressed with most of what I saw. Keep in mind its probably impossible to see every single piece of the vast collections they have in one visit.

PROS: huge array of collections
CONS: pricey admission

The Art Institute of Chicago is definately World Class. Tuesdays are "free days" with no set admission fee, any donation you wish to make they will accept. The exhibits here are first rate, and they have something fro eveyone- whether you like your art modern, classical, primative, 3-D, the impressionists, whatever. Plus for the kids they have the swords and armor hall. Parking is expensive, but park under the park and walk over, it is not a far walk and then go see Buckingham fountain and enjoy a picnic lunch and a stroll along the lake for a great day out with the family

I guess the two lion statues outside are supposed to be the lions that were in that movie the ghost and the darkness. Anyway, the musuem is cool, it's good for people watching, and they have different displays throughout the year so you can come more than once.

Great place to come with a date or kids. SO much art to see. Come on Tuesdays - it's free. But even if you come other times, it's very much worth it. I loved the recent Monet exhibit.
