I would not even give this restaurant 1 star!! I was downtown with my mother and son and decided to stop for lunch at the Irish Rose. We always see the commercials for it and it looked to be a nice restaurant. Big mistake! First we stood up front for a while because the sign said wait to be seated, only for the bartender to tell us to sit were we wanted. We were given a cheap paper menu that had about 10 things on it. I asked if they had anything for kids...they had nothing! So we sat for awhile looking over the very FEW choices we had for food. I decided to get the grilled chicken sandwich. So when I asked for cheese she gave me two options goat cheese and some other nasty cheese so I deiced not to get those poor choices. So my chicken came and it was a flat thin flavorless piece of chicken the "fries" that were potatoes thick slices and not cooked at all they were so hard and raw. I asked for ranch to flavor up my chicken...guess what, they do not have ranch! So as I was eating my horrible chicken sandwich I bit into something hard I pulled it out and it was a chicken bone, in the chicken that was suppose to be boneless. When I showed the waitress she was completely surprised and disgusted as well. She brought me a different sandwich which I did not enjoy either! The only thing I liked about that place was the homemade mayonnaise. I will never ever be back or for that matter the people I have told said they would never go there! I would saw If you are looking for a place to go late at night for drink then that would be fine but if you looking for a restaurant Stay away! Their choices are terrible and the food is disgusting. The owner of this place should be ashamed!

Great bands, great selection of beers. This is a small place, very cozy but not cramped. Stop in to see a great local band - there is always one on the calendar!

The Irish Rose is a quaint little place with a great atmosphere for enjoying good food and live entertainment. It is large enough to be comfortable, yet small enough that it maintains a more intimate atmosphere. The live music has always been good.

This is a very classy place. The setting is nice and the food is great. The only thing is that it can be a bit pricey. However, if you are ready to splurge, I highly recommend it for a date night!

We had lunch here one afternoon in the summer. It was a nice day and we were able to sit on the patio and enjoy the weather and the passerbys. The food was delicious and the bill was a nice surprise, around $20 for two entrees and beer. HIghly recommended.

Pros: Food, atmosphere and service

Cons: Didn't have any

A wonderful "made-from-scratch" restaraunt, featuring a wood oven and food like that found in many "white-tablecloth"/"fancy chef" restaraunts (at much higher prices than here), plus a great liquor/wine selection make the Irish Rose a "must eat at" restaraunt. Esp. worth noting are the fresh breads, the cheesecake, the salads, foccasia, pasta, and the weekly-changing menu, depending on what is "in season." Furthermore, if you like freshwater fish cooked properly, this place is "heaven." Also has many vegetarian items on the menu. Entrees start around $8. Dress=casual--trendy--fancy--artsy. Sadly, overlooked by the "locals" in Rockford, but would be packed silly if located in Chicago...

Pros: wine & microbrews, fresh food in season, "properly spiced"

Cons: busy on weekends, the lunch menu lacks, kitchen closed Sunday
