1 Stars: Worst service experience I have ever had... (by Andrew S.)

I was lied to, lied about (to my insurance company), and my wife was also lied to. I cannot believe this place is still operating and has not been shut down. DO NOT GO HERE.

Any of the good reivews are most likely from people employed there. This is not a refutable establishment.

1 Stars: This Place is a scam, 3 trips 2200 later and still not fixed correctly! (by Keith W.)

I told them my heater Core was going bad and I wanted them to look at it. They came back with a laundry list of things that needed fixed. None of which was the heater core. Half of this is had been general maintaince stuff that was already done earlier in the year. If they would have checked any of the fluids in these areas they would have known, first clue to take my car and go elsewhere. Second clue should have been the Heater Core not on the list of things to fix. Short story is they said something else was wrong and not the heater core, but yet I had all the heater Core issues. (FYI, My father is a 30 yr Certified GM Mechanic in Michigan, I've worked on Cars half my life. I just don't have anywhere in Chicago to do the work myself. I know about cars and how to fix them.) I took their word that it wasn't the heater core, but stated we will have major problems if I'm back in here after 1500 dollars of repair work and I still have heater Core problems. After getting my car back I drove to MI for Thanks giving 6 hours, with a bad heater core still. And come to find out a bad hose clamp that if someone did a little due diligence would have realized with a simple pressure test. If that camp would have broken while driving I would have a ceased engine block driving at 80 miles an hour, that would not have ended well for me. After taking it back in for the original heater core that I told them was bad, and was still bad after 1500 bucks of work. They wanted me to pay another 1500 to fix the heater core that I told them was the original problem. So after sending me out in an unsafe vehicle, and not fixing the problem that I told them to fix, and threatening to get lawyers involved. I agreed to pay half just to get my car back in running order. Oh yeah, after that, and the fixed the heater Core, they put the dash in wrong and my push buttons on the dash for the 4 wheel drive didnt work, that was the third trip, I sat and waited 3 hours for that.

I would never recommend them to anyone, I wasted about 2.5 days of lost work (3 trips to the dealer with the car, and 1 trip to yell at the service rep) 2200 dollar paid. And I still smell Anit-Freeze when I turn on the heat, so it isnt fixed correctly. Taking it to my Fathers old Dealership when I go home for Christmas.

Of course this is just an opinion of my experience with them.

5 Stars: Best Service Ever (by GEORGE F.)

I work in the city and live in the burbs, this dealer goes out of their way to make getting service on my vehicle easy. They even give me a limo ride to the trian station. My parents bought their vehicles from Z Frank and I have been buying vehicle from them for over ten years. They are tops in my book and I would and do tell everyone I know that this is place to go to if you have car problems or if you need a new vehicle.

5 Stars: They know how to treat a lady (by April T.)

Being a female I have been very nervous and very unhappy with the way I have been treated by the past dealers I have visited. I use to own a Lexus and traded it in for an Uplander due to an expanding family. From the time I purchased this the people at Z Frank have treated me so well that I would never dream of going any where else. They even have a Spanish speaking female to take care of you in the service department. Every visit I made to this dealer from the time I started looking on the internet to the times I have been in for service I have been treated better than I have at any dealer I have ever delt with. They get my vote.

1 Stars: Problems from the start ! (by dana h.)

I went to ZFrank with the hopes of great preowned Chevy. I was so wrong. Upon looking at the car I noticed problems with the interior, the rear wiper blade broken, simple things that I wanted fixed before taking possession of the car. Everything at this place was NO PROBLEM, NO PROBLEM. I vehicle which is an 06 has had nothing but problems. I have had to take this car in 5x in 3 months. Chevy inspected my butt, the excuse they keep telling me is "the inspection only requires 15% of the brake rotors, the sensor is just a faulty part, these things happen". Im sorry I had hoped ZFRANK took a little more pride in their vehicles. I was wrong!! I have bought Chevy for the last 20 yrs, never again thanks to this dealership and their lies.

PROS: They got me into a car quickly.
CONS: They stuck me with a lemon, and keep making excuses for the vehicle

1 Stars: Z Frank Chevy/Kia aka Dodge Kia Dealership is a JOKE (by Antone F.)

12/08-Do not waste your time. This dealership only wants one thing- YOUR MONEY. Do not trust!! I have bought 2 cars from this dealership under 2 different managements, they are like the typical dealership; Once they get your money THEY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU!! I worte a letter to the GM describing my problems and issues at the dealership during my 2 month service and he has yet to contact me. Mind you, I handed him the leader personally. Go to another dealership for the purhcase of your KIA or Chevy vehicle." THE ONLY WAY TO IMPROVE THIS DEALERSHIP IS TO CLOSE DOWN AND LET ANOTHER DEALER TAKE OVER!

2/08... My car had to go back in the shop for the engine light again (5th time) and coolant leak. So, I took it back to Z Franks since they say that service satisfaction is their 1# priority and THEY proved me WRONG again. When I picked my car up on 2/2/8 the service manager Collins said that I the CUSTOMER should not have gone out of the chain of command when complaining about my previous visits. He stated that I should have brought any service complaints to HIM, NOT the GM. He even had the audacity to tell me; after buying the car from them, that there are no contractual obligations that I the customer bring my car back to their dealership. So, as of 2/2/8, Z Frank will no longer recieve a dime from me, but I will CONTINUE to write reviews about THIS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL dealership until I no longer have my 2007 Kia Rondo in position. THANKS A LOT service manager Collins for ENCOURAGING all my future reviews about Z Frank....

Do not waste your time. This dealership only wants one thing- YOUR MONEY. Do not trust THEM AT ALL!!
Pros: THEY ARE THE ONLY KIA DEALER IN CHICAGO
Cons: THEY HAVE NOT IDEA HOW TO TREAT RETURN CUSTOMERS
Price Range: N/A
Recommended: No

2 Stars: Service or No Service (by John R.)

This is a typical American car dealership in Chicago. They do the usual herding of cattle style, wait by your car like a moron and we'll eventually acknowledge that you exist kind of service. After having my car there for battery problems they finally figured out that it was the alternator and told me the crazy amount of money that would be involved in the repair. Here's the kicker, the last alternator I had put in by GM, I bought the Mr. Goodwrench protection. They tried to tell me I couldn't use it or that the repair may not be covered. What a crock, ALL services done under the protection agreement is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle! Enough said.

5 Stars: Service second to none (by SUZIE H.)

I have been going to Z Frank for over 20 years. Not all of them at this location but for the last 10 years or so at this location. I bought my first car at the location they had in Highland Park. I had such good service from one of their employee's (Mike A) that after the location closed I followed him to the location they had in Des Plaines. Now for the last 10 years or so he has been at this location. through all the years I have known him he has been outstanding in the service he has provided. Always going the extra mile. I will never buy or service my car anywhere but Z Frank.Suzie.

5 Stars: Sercie with a smile (by Albert H.)

The smiles are all mine. I have used the service at Z Frank on and for the past 15 years and have bought 3 cars from them over that same time period. I use a local shop from time to time and the last time I went there they told me I needed to have a coolant leak repaired for the tune of $1,100.00 dollasrs. Since this was a large repair I went back to my normal guy at Z Frank. It turned out that even though my car was out of warranty (a 2004 Malibu) that they were able to get me some sort of specail adjustment due to the fact that almost all of my regular maintenance has been performed at Z Frank. The best part is they brought this up to me, I didn't have to ask. So my $1,1000.00 repair cost me only $400.00 dollars. They are the best

5 Stars: They are #1 in my book (by Matt J.)

I live downtown and have service a several of the so called GM dealers in the area and have been avoiding this dealer because of the reviews listed here. This last weekend my truck broke down and I had no choice but to have it towed to the closest dealer. I have to tell you the Z Frank I went to could not be the same place the other people wrote about. My truck died out on Saturday around 8:30am, I called roadside they picked up me and my truck and had me at Z Frank around 10:00am. I explained that I was very late for a family function and expected to get the normal answer of we will get to as soon as we can. To my surprise The person who took care of me (Tim) was great he said I understand your situation let me see if I can get it in to someone right away. Ten minutes later my truck is in the shop being looked at. Turns out the alternator went bad, they had it replaced and on was on my way by 11:30am. Best experience I have ever had and I would tell you with out reservation; if you need service the place to go is Z Frank and the guy to see is Tim.

1 Stars: anyone who's gives a good review of this place... (by Mark H.)

obviously works there and is a plant. My car has currently been in the service department there for 2 weeks still waiting for a mythical part to arrive. Been left on hold there twice for over 20 minutes. Left messages for the manager with no response. Never once offered a rental car even though it was under warranty.

Then I realized that $250 oil change they wanted me to buy must have really been a bribe. And no - I swear that was the quoted price. But it did include tire rotation.

I have always bought GM (my dad retired from there) but NEVER again. What good is a $20,000 car with service like this.

5 Stars: HELP FOR THE PERSON WITH THE BRAKE ISSUE (by MICHALE A.)

If you contact me I am sure I could help you get the brake parts taken care of. The brakes have a limited life time warranty from GM. What the parts person was wrong about is at Z Frank Chevrolet if you purchased brake pads or shoes that carry a limited lifetime warranty from GM, Z Frank will cover them after the GM warranty has been used. The parts person you worked with was not aware of this policy. Please contact me as soon as you can and I am sure we can get this all worked out.
