I have had several experiences with Cycle-N-Sports: Some good, some bad!

I have an old mountain bike. When I first did business there (mid 2007), my rear wheel needed a new rim and restringing. While a bad experience elsewhere (my bike had the "old" more narrow axle, which the other shop didn't recognize), at Cycles-N-Sports, I was pleasantly surprised when the "kid" not only recognized the axle issue, but prattled on for 15 minutes about the changes and differences in wheel hub sizes and designs. And, they did a great job rebuilding the wheel. I was very pleased and, at about $80 for the rim, spokes and rebuild, not hard hit in the pocket book!

Some months after that, I had a left (non-chain ring) crank arm fail. What I would call a fairly simple repair was botched... twice. First, by not fully tightening the peddle and second by not fully tightening the arm onto the crank shaft. I eventually went to another store where the repair was done properly (though the "bedside manner" there leaves something to be desired!).

My experience since has been more encouraging. My impression is that some of the people working there *used* to be... ah... less than customer friendly. I don't know about the entire workforce, but at least the manager (Dwayne), seems to be on top of things. I hope he can communicate that attitude to his worker bees!

I purchased 2 bikes from Cycles N Sports, Giant Cypress bikes, specifically. They were not only accommodating in that they stayed open even though we came in 5 minutes after closing time, but also fixed my bike rack as I had it on wrong. The service with the sale was great and this is a nice group of people to work with. I purchased each bike on separate occasions and both times they were helpful and informative.

I called this bike shop on the morning of Aug. 20th, 2008 and asked specifically if they had a 2008 Giant Sedona DX, Lg frame, in stock. The young man on the phone said they had 2 or 3 in stock, so the wife and I drove in 30 miles to Worth, IL from Peotone, IL that afternoon. When we got there, I spoke with the same guy I talked to earlier on the phone. He could not find the bike I called about (not in stock) and tried playing it off that by saying that he thought I wanted another model. After telling him I drove there all that way, spending money on tolls and gas, not to mention our time and having to go home in rush hour traffic, he just said to let him know if there was anything else he could help us out with and he rudely walked away!!! No apologies, no trying to offer us a discount on another model for our trouble, NOTHING!!!! We were appalled by his actions and callousness. We looked around briefly and left. We found the bike I wanted the next day at Grand Schwinn Cyclery in Morris, IL and bought it immediately (along with several additional items)!!! We appreciated doing business with a much more mature and straight forward business. I will be back there to make some more purchases!
Your poor business practices caused you a loss of 500 dollars in sales and any future business with you, Worth Cycle n Sports! Have a good day!
