Okay, I go there every now and again because I myself am a duelist and a MTG player. New to MTG, but still a player. The first day I went to get MTG cards he got a shipment. He let us open some packs for him, gave us all the non-rare cards, and even let me have the rare one I found in the pack because I only just started MTG.
All this crap about autistic kids- Just don't. Whether real, or fake, we cannot tell, so don't bother. I don't want to seem rude, but just... Don't.
The reason Gust doesn't want you finding cheaper prices is because A) It kills business. B) It means you are a cheap-a$$. So really, a great card shop. And you must remember, no matter what others do there, it is the other kid's parent's fault.

I used to go to Robin's Nest back when I was just a kid. I stopped playing Yu-gi-oh, so I stopped going. I recently have been going to tournament again for it, and decided to check out Robin's Nest again. I see all these comments from parents saying "I love the no swearing rule!!!" They don't enforce that at all. I went there for one tournament with some friends. I could hear someone screaming F**k from the other room that had many kids in it. The way they talk down on the kids is ridiculous. The person telling everyone who they were to play next came up to me and said this exact thing. "You play _____ next. Its some little annoying kid somewhere. Just ask the little kids." Also while in the middle of a game I heard another older gentleman, who was watching two kids play, say "Wow these kids are making my brain hurt, they have no idea how to play or what to do. I'm going to the other room so they don't kill me." As for the prices. The prices are not all that good. I can get the same price almost anywhere else. As for single cards. There is a website that sells cards cheap. One card I looked at was going for $1 on that site. They were trying to sell it for $10. when my buddy asked them how they price their items, they said e-bay or amazon. When he asked if they ever thought of using this other website. They told him that he was not allowed to look at that website while in the store, and they will not use it. They obviously knew that those prices were lower, and didn't want my friend to know. As for the staff. The staff is very nice. Overall I will go there occasionally, but would never make it my first choice of a store.

The stuff about not being nice to special needs kids is a lie, plain and simple.

I go to Robin's Nest every week and always have a great time. the guy that runs the magic side of the counter always sells singles a 1/2 the regular book price for most high end cards and booster packs usually run cheaper than at walmart. I'll never shop anywhere else

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I feel safe leaving my 13 yr. old son there for MTG tournaments. They also have rules that Top Kut doesn't (ex. no swearing) which I think is a good idea.

I have a cousin that goes to the nest and from what i can see through him the robin's nest is the perfect place to take kids to be with other kids. as far as this playing on kids with special needs deal... really? lets be adults here... i know people that have gone there for way more than 5 years and i have never heard of anything like that at all. the nest is fun, laid back and perfect for the casual or serious gamer. keep up the good work Gus + Gloria!!!!!

My son has autism and had attended Robin's nest for over 5 years. Recently, the owner and her staff exploited my son and his friends with Autism by playing one friend off the other to find out what was going on at other stores in town. I would NOT recommend any child or young adult with special needs going to this store. The owners and staff play on their disabilities to benefit themselves.

I sent my son to RN for several years. Before allowing this, I met with the owner to explain my son's disability and also explained that if there was ever an issue, please contact me. My son went to the store today as he has every Sunday for at least 5 years and was told he was "Banned" from the store. He had been having converstations with another young adult with autism about happenings at Robin's Nest. The owners played one kid off another to find out what they had been saying and then banned my son from the store because "he was not happy there" My son pointed out league rule violations and because of this was banned. There are many kids with autism that play there. If you are a parent I would highly suggest you rethink the decision to let your child play there, so your son doesn't come home in tears, like mine did today.

Cons: Is not Autism Friendly

Robins Nest is a good alternative to Top Cut for MTG tournaments. Very nice and helpful staff -feel safe leaving my son there during tournaments.

I have been going to Robin's Nest since it was just a house somewhere, so since I was about 12. I'm 20 now and I still love going there, The owners, Gus and Gloria are two of the nicest people that I've known for a long time. You're guaranteed to find anything you're looking for as far as major TCGs go. The people that compete in the leagues are of all ages and are generally very friendly. I would recommend this store to anybody who collects and/or plays Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Poke'mon, Naruto, and even Duel Masters. Hey Gus, if you're reading this YOU KICK ASS MAN!

I often travel to Robin's Nest to purchase Magic: The Gathering cards, because they have the best deals on singles and packs of any store in Rockford. The owners are very friendly, and will do their best to make sure they have (or will get) what you need. They sell most of their packs for slightly below retail price, so it's well worth it to make the trip to Robin's Nest as opposed to Wal-Mart or someplace else. Their inventory is impressive given the size of the shop, and their ability to host tournaments also provides players with entertainment as well as the cards themselves.

Robins Nest has collectible cards and gaming accessories. They hold Magic the Gathering tournaments weekly, which always seem to be well attended. Their prices are pretty much in line with other stores who sell this type of product. They sell decks of cards and single cards for a variety of games, like Pokemon, Digimon, and Magic. They have some other trading cards and collectibles as well. This is where I often buy my husband his Magic cards.
