Desperately in need of a haircut I decided to stop in and get a quick one. I waited for about 10 minutes which I think was good considering I don't have an appointment. The stylist was funny and easy to talk to, and my cut came out fine. Tipped her paid and left in a good mood.
I came in for a cut and color because they had an opening and I needed to get it done that day.I didn't get a chance to read these reviews. But for me I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile, the staff were very upbeat and fun to be around. To be honest I got excellent service and my cut/color came out exactly how I wanted it to.
Ive had a few bad experiences with this place i think its over rated they all think its a fashion show. Went to get my hair lightened 3 days ago they recomended i used sarah for coloring so i went ahead and had sarah do my hair i said i wanted to lighten it and have a trim she bleached my hair for over an hour died it brown and when she noticed my hair falling out she started to cut it now 4 days later i cant go out my house cause my hair is damaged, fried 5 different colors crooked hair cut so i called to speak to the owner they told me to come see frank so i went in with my sis there all staring at us with smerks on there faces frank told me i was warned that this would happen which was a lie he said 3 differenf girls heard sarah warn me they all stood there and smiled i spent 200 dollars for these people to screw up my hair and all he did was offer me a 40 dollar bottle of morocan leave in conditioner with a 25% discount !! Whats wrong with these people i have four sisters and a few friends who will no longer go there. Also i had another bad experience about two years ago went to christina for.a layer and a trim she used a thinner on my hair broke hairs on top of my head made it look like spikes again not very helpful all they do is gossip about eachother terrible place terrible customer service they charge so much and when they mess up they dont do anything to satisfy there customers wouldnt recomend it to anyone .
I have a love-hate relationship with this place. It can be very intimidating, as it is always crowded with customers and scantily clad stylists. This salon is definitely not the place to go when you just want a relaxing experience. Good luck getting out of there on time to run any other errands. If you are getting a color and cut, you might as well block out 4 hours out of your life. Also, the assistants are quite rude and awkward, creating an uncomfortable experience for those who find themselves in their chair. On the upside, the salon is packed with stylists, so you are sure to find one who will cut your hair the way you like it.
i went into gallery of hair today and i wanted to see
dana L....the guy at the front desk told me she was on leave of absense for surgey for 3months and suggested someone else, i usually wont go to anyone else but i figured i cant wait 3 more months since i already waited for so long.later during my service another stylist came up to me and told me dana wasnt on leave, that she actually is at another salon 10 minutes away!!! she gave me all her info to her new salon,,,i was completely appalled that gallery lied to me and when i confronted the guy "frank" who told me this, he just had a dumb look on his face and gave me no explanation, just handed me a gift certificate for $25.00..i told him i dont want it, i want dana and how unproffessional he and his salon was to lie to clients

My experience with Gallery of Hair has been good so far. I have really short hair so I go there because I trust the stylists. I don't have a specific stylist I go to all the time but when ever I go I'm always satisfied. I don't care about service as long as my hair is nice. I mean I don't have to tip if I don't want to. When ever a friend ask where they can get a good hair cut I reffer them to this place. I always get compliments about my hair so why not.
Well I took my cousin and my sister to Gallery of Hair because they loved my hair and they wanted the same. My cousin was the unfortunate one. My cousin had long hair and she wanted to go short with a spunk. She was assigned Maria and older Italina lady. While I was getting my hair cut I noticed that this Maria lady was making my cousing look for other hair styles because the one she wanted "did not suit her face". My cousin is so nice she did not have the guts to tell this lady anything. When I was done whith my hair cut with Edita I went to check on my sister, Bebe did an awesome job! I went to check on my cousind and I was like what is oging on, I've never seen any one cut short hair this way! I knew right away this was not good but I waited for the outcome. Well the outcome was not good. This lady basically just chopped my cousins hair and had the audacity to say it looked good. When we told Maria to fix it she was rude and went agains our word, she gave the pathetic excuse that my cousins hair is too thick and she did everything she could. She cut it shorter but made it worse. There is no style to it.
I was too mad, I know a good hair cut when I see one. Maria needs to go back to beauty school or something to kee up to date with all the new hair styles.
I have been going to dana for over 5 years along with my mother, 3 sisters and my cousin, We've have always been given the upmost service by her. She very attentive and professonal. i constanttly get compliments on my hair and i have recommened dozens upon dozens of clients to her. You want a gret hair dresser? go to her!
Dana L. is the best.
Absolutely NOT the place to go to if you??re in a hurry, made plans for that later afternoon or if you're looking for SOME ACTUAL SERVICE with a clean, sanitized and ambiance of an environment. I have been a Gallery of Hair client for roughly the past 3 years despite 2 previous disappointments I incurred. The last strike that occurred this past Friday made me absolutely END my 3 year relation with this supposed ??Professional Establishment? including the business it receives from my mother, brother, sisters and aunt and anyone and everyone I have referred and WOULD HAVE referred in the possible near future. Apparently all the Gallery of Hair Staff and most importantly its management seems to care about is short-term money, and NOT the experience nor the decency of service the client is supposed to receive to actually retain that clients long-term money in the form of future bookings and referrals. Taken one step further, Gallery of Hair management DOES NOT even CARE to appease or inform their ill-knowledged staff on how to manage simple client complaints or any type of client discourse a client may have furnished the Front Desk about that could have possibly been remedied with a more-so apologetic demeanor. Frustrated, I phoned Gallery of Hair the next day since I had no recourse with the less than helpful frontdesk, and tried to reach a resolution in the slightest hope that I may just overlook this last insult and restore my business relation with the slimmest of an apology. I spoke to none other than Carla, a Front Desk regular and Michael the Gallery of Hair owners?? wife, and was told that Michael the owner-her Husband, would be giving me a call back. I wasn??t even granted that simple request or gesture of an apology when 4 days later I STILL had NOT received a CALL back as was stated that I would. Perhaps it was TOO much to ever even fathom such an outrageous request as simple as a phone call back from such an unscrupulous organization and their stakeholders.
Word of advice for a few bucks more or equivalent in price you can go to: Ministry of Hair, Salon 51, Savi Day Spa, and even try your luck with students at Tricoci University that despite their premature training in technique and color are eager and ready to service clients with a smile and exhibit some sort of Front Desk Professional Knowledge. For a bit of a drive but still worth the service you can also try Yehia & Co. newest 6th location on Madison and Ridgeland in Oak Park, an Aveda Concept Salon that AT LEAST looks clean and modern unlike Gallery of Hair that performs a service as intimate as a Brazilian Wax of all things in the: BATHROOM. YES THE BATHROOM!!! TOTALLY DISGUSTING WHEN I FOUND THAT ONE OUT. It seems to me that any and all young professional, educated, women with some sort of sophistication have far outgrown the Gallery of Hair and as a young professional, educated, woman with some sort of sophistication myself I would have to strongly suggest you heed the advise of this complaint and not EVER associate yourself with such low and common of a place in standards, sanitation, and professionalism for as long as I endured. The sad thing is I??ve received better service at local Mom and Pop salons or a five dollar holler like Betty and Nicks, which at my age I??ve also outgrown.
Sadly Disappointed,
Former Gallery of Hair Client Regular
Subject: Touch up of blonde highlights by Paolo Orco. After a lengthy procedure, I looked in the mirror to find my hair shockingly dark brown. When I politely asked Paolo what he had done, he pompously told me that it is not his problem if I dont like it along with other shocking phrases. I was absolutely blown away by his arrogance. The manager, Michael, was equally unprofessional. Paolo was completely unremorseful and had the nerve to declare that I owed him a whopping $180 for his sloppy job. To everyone out there with disastrous tales of grossly negligent hairdressers, know that the hair salon and the hairdresser personally have to be licensed in order to operate in the state of IL and are required to follow a certain code of conduct. If not obeyed, a license renewal can be refused. I will be pursuing this matter further.
PROS: Good hours, a lot of parking, walk-in's welcomed
CONS: Poor customer service / people skills, uncooperative management
THIS IS A PLACE EVERY GIRL HAS TO VISIT IT GIVES YOU A GOOD ARRAY OF COLORS FOR HAIR DYEING AND TINTING AND YOU CAN DO SOMETHING NEW WITH YOUR HAIR AND I TRUST WITH MY HAIR I HAVE VERY DIFFICULT HAIR AND THEY MAKE MY HAIR LOOK BEAUTIFUL THEY DEFINITELY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
Been using them for years. Most of the I walk in and there is a 5 minute wait, which helps when you're busy running errands. Very friendly, and they do your hair as you requested. Believe me that is a real plus. Prices are reasonable also. I was given a gift certificate for a high priced salon, I ended up having my hair cut their once and my daughters nails done. The rest of the certificate ran out because I decided not to go back. I would rather go to the Gallery and have my hair done like I want.
PROS: atmosphere, price and they listen to you
CONS: none
I'm a local mom, and this place always makes me feel like a supermodel. I have been using different stylist there, and every one of them has been attentive and listened to what I wanted. It is always packed in there, but I have never needed an appointment, defientely a plus for a mom with kids! They always fit me in, and the price is reasonable for services provided.
Lots of beautiful people working there with great attitudes. Reminds me, I need a highlight!!
I went to the gallery of hair and i abso loved it. I got a haircut with Carolina and she did a phenomenal job. It's the best haircut ive ever had! she was very nice and cut my hair exactly the way i wanted it. Every time i get my hair cut the stylist cuts off way too much, I asked for half inch off because im trying to let my hair grow and she only cut half inch. The blowdry was amazing, it lasted me three days without becoming flat! The gallery of hair is awsome all the girls are super nice and super trendy! it is by far the best salon in chicago!
