Service sucks, beer is expensive, and food sucks. Irish breakfast is a grease pit just like the soggy fries. If you want processed, sodium-infused bar food - GAH is the place to go. I like O'Donovans on Irving Park Road for an Irish bar setting. Kuma's Corner is decent too . . . Delicious bbq pulled pork sandwhich on a toasted pretzel bun. You be the judge - but you won't find it at Ginger's/,.
PLUS, IT's ALWAYS DEAD!

Ginger's markets itself as a place to watch soccer and I am sure that is true. Last Saturday afternoon every TV was tuned to a Premiership game - US football fans need not apply! That's actually fine, but the food was average at best, the place could use a scrubbing and the bartender spent all her time talking to her friends down the bar. Ginger's or the Globe are the place to go to watch European sports with other knowledgeable fans, but if that's not your scene, there are better choices in Lakeview.

Try the Thursday special Irish Bacon and Cabbage, its FANTASTIC. The Pub Quis is fun on Sundays and its rated the #1 soccer bar in the US. Have a great tiem every time I go there and I go frequently.

gingers ale house is one rocking place at any time. you want to watch any kind of sport, they will get it for you. the quantity of booze on offer is great and they have one of the biggest menus for an irish bar i have ever seen, even in ireland. the staff are too funny at times, leaving you with one side hurting from laughter and the other with a liver pulse you never knew you had. overall the place rocks and i hope as a neighbour it rocks on for a very long time.

Stopped in last Sunday and discovered a great pub quiz! Friendly people, good questions, reasonable price, great prizes, and good charities. I will be back at 8 every Sunday.

Greeted with a smile my first time here, "how's it going?", the friendly person asked. Friendly service with a smile, something hard too find these days in popular bars. Football and soccer games on the TV's, and many of my favorite beers on draft, I would have slept there if they hadn't closed. And no pub grub at this pub, the food was another nice surprise, tasted great, and a head chef to check on your opinion. Also spent 10 bucks in the jute box because it had just about anything I could have ever wanted to hear. Very impressed. I'll be back! -Padddy

I have been going to ginger's for about three years and recently they got a new chef, and wow.. the food is awesome. While they raised their prices a bit, they are not anymore expensive then the other bars in the area, and thet still have the best beers around. I bring all my friends who visit chicago here!

I live down the block from Ginger's and I think it's one of the most welcoming pubs in the city. The staff is increadibly friendly. We were leaving last night and one of my friends mentioned he didn't want to leave. When the waitress overheard this, she introduced him to a bunch of regulars. He stayed and had a great time with complete strangers.
My only complaint is that it's a little too expensive for me to go there as much as I want.

This neighborhood sports bar, painted an inviting blue with gold trim, sits on the outskirts of Lakeview. While Wrigley Field isn't very far, the sports bar crowd is. Instead, locals, ex-pats and workmen casually drinkā€¦
