I just adore Adobo Grill - they use only the best ingredients, and have a variety of authentic Mexican dishes including amazing tamales and Conchinitas Pibil - a slow roasted pulled pork marinated in achiote.

The servers are great at making recommendations, and you definitely need to try their guacamole. They were the first restaurant in town to prepare it tableside and they have the best guacamole in town, so thick, chunky, and refreshing. You can choose from a range of flavors depending on how spicy you like your guac, but I love the mild and basic guacamole - with just avocados, onions, garlic, tomatoes and a bit of lime juice. You can't go wrong with fresh ingredients simply prepared.

This is a very good place for Mexican food. There are a lot of good workers and they make sure you are satified with your meal. They have really good gourment food and they make guacamole right in front of you as well. It is very good place to go.

We had received good reports about the food & atmosphere & on the recommendation of a colleague we organized a work function here.
We were terribly unhappy at the way we were treated. There were about 40 of us jammed into a function room for 20, leaving no comfortable space for presentations & awards. It was awful. The sound system didn't work properly, either.
And to add salt into the wound, they'd shifted us from a larger adjacent space to host an impromptu (and much smaller) party, even though we'd had a reservation for many weeks & had confirmed the larger space on the day before our function. This party next door was ridiculously LOUD and we couldn't comfortably do our business.
The food was good, albeit VERY far behind the schedule agreed to. The wait staff were efficient. The margaritas were nice.
As a finally parting gift: there was only ONE valet to perform the valet service for the entire restaurant meaning a long line & wait outside. And one of our party got stiffed for the complimentary valet parking too.
And downstairs the place was nearly empty. What gives?
Although I've eaten there many times I will definitely NOT be returning.
There are many better places with this type of cuisine (Las Palmas & Cuatro) who know a thing or two about service that this place seems to have forgotten.

We heard great reviews about the food, and even took the respected advice of a colleague to have a department function at Adobo Grill in Wicker Park.

We could not have been more disappointed.

We had an agreement with the restaurant for a room that would comfortably host our group of 40 for a recognition dinner complete with a keynote speaker. On the day of the event -- unbeknownst to us -- Adobo Grill moved us into the room for groups of 20 or less so that they could host another event simultaneously. A tequila tasting party complete with music, of all things!

They did not serve the food (which was good, perhaps the only high point of the evening) on time.

The valet service lost one of our guest's cars.

And after all of that, they refused to comp the cost of the valet for the host of the evening's event stating, "The bill has been settled. You'll have to pay for that on your own."

Think twice about hosting an event at Adobo. They have no awareness of what it takes to host a nice event.

Pros: Excellent margaritas saved me from noticing the abysmal service and unresponsiveness of staff.

Cons: Everything else. From scheduling a competing event next door to moving us to a smaller room at the last minute. This place defines low class.

Gourmet portions & prices, in other words no leftovers to take home. Great ambiance but a bit pricey for the quality & portion size. The guacamole is made at your table and the intensity of Hot!! is tailored to your preference. If you're up for a drink ask for their tequila list vs. wine list. The menu Margarita on the rocks is made with excellent tequila, no need for an upgrade. They offer a Tequila shot on the menu that goes for $80.00, haven't tried it but heard it is phenomenal...

I went in to this restaurant because I was told "OH MY GOD ITS THE BEST." I took my fiance and my mom with me. It was a Saturday evening we had no reservation but they were able to sit us almost immediately. The drinks were decent at best. To be honest I have had much better drinks at other places (i.e. Cuatro and Mambo Grill and My Home).

We ordered the Guacamole and that I have to say was the best part of the meal. It was delicious. But that is were it all ended. The rest of the eating experience was about to turn sour. None of us were able to finish our meals. We all just hated them. I had the Camaron Centli and as soon as I saw the plate even before I tasted it I was like "what is this nasty looking thing." My mom had the Pechuga Azteca and all she could bare to eat was the re-heated rice they served. My finace well she was just a bit pleased with her meal, I say that because she was able to eat ONE of the enchiladas de pollo(chicken). The tortillas that they served were cold and hard. I mean it was just a bad experience. I paid for three people to eat and all that was eaten from three seperate plates was a bit of rice, five shrimp and one enchilada.

Very Disapointed

We ended up going to Cuatro for desserts and a few more drinks after we left Adobo Grill

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago, and were pleasantly surprised, given the mediocre Best Of rating. The food was very good, although rather small portion sizes. The margaritas were plenty strong, and we even got a couple of shots-worth extra when one of the glasses wasn't quite full! The staff was very attentive and gave helpful advice on the menu. We didn't try the guacamole, but will be sure to the next time we visit.

We were so glad to see the Wicker Park version of Adobo, the food is great, picante, authentic, the guacamole girls make it "a su gusto" so you can have it spicy or bland. I still remember a brunch "eggs benedict/mexican style" that was superb. We now can walk to great Mexican food and although the hustle and bustle of the outside cafe may not be the most quaint, it is definitely urban.

Pros: great food, nice ambience

Cons: crowded on weekends

I love mexican food. And good gourmet. This place has both. And the staff is amazing. I swear that if my drink got even close to being empty, it was immedietly refilled. And not no mention, this place knows alot for people with food allergies. I would know this for I have one. Great eats. Check it out.

PROS: Amazing margaritas, great staff and food.
CONS: A bit pricy.

Adobo Grill is considered an upscale Mexican restaurant. The food is very authentic and you will not find these selections on your typical corner Mexican restaurant. I enjoy the food and the service is great. Also, check out the bar if you want a good Margarita or tequila.
