Thank you, La Dolce Vita, for a wonderful experience. We came to your restaurant for a rehearsal dinner. My son and I have food allergies (milk, peanuts), and I called ahead of time to make sure there would be food that I could eat.

My wife and I went to dinner at La Dolce Vita in downtown Lemont Friday night, April 22, 2011. After a brief wait we were seated at a cramped high top table in the bar area; even the waitress commented we had a "special" table.\r

Italian food is pretty standard anywhere you go, but this restaurant goes beyond that. The food and wines here are great, and it has a great atmosphere as every small Italian restaurant should. Tucked away in Lemont, it's a great find.

Just purchased a gift certificate for $150 on Thursday and to my nice surprise when reviewing my online banking account they charged me $180. Still waiting on this to be resolved.

Great old building, nice atmosphere, excellent service with a group of 10. Appetizers were outstanding: calamari, goat cheese, and one more that escapes me. Veal dish was above average, served piping hot with an excellent sauce, peppers, onions, etc.... Wine list was solid, but not too flashy. They had the bottles we wanted. Tirimisu was a very tasty. I'd go back.

Pros: setting, appetizers, beer list

Cons: lots of good italian joints out there. need to distinguish themselves

Yes, the food is good here, but there has to be more than just food. I am Italian and I keep saying that these people cannot possibly be real Italians. They are soooo unfriendly and cold. You cannot make reservations here. OK - I can deal with that, but how about customers that have been coming in a couple of times a week for a couple of years. Wouldn't you expect a little consideration - like -"We'll try to get you in a soon as possible" - no - it's more like they have never seen you in their life. Or - how about this - "Could we please have a vegtable instead of potato". The answer to that - "If we did that for you - we would have to do it for everyone". Well - I am happy now - I have vented and by the way - we don't go there anymore. A better place with delicious food and people that are very happy to have you there (also, special orders do bother them in the least) is GONDOLA restaurant off Rte 83 at about 9300 South.

Ate there today and only wished we'd found it sooner. The ambiance was perfect, our server was attentive without being intrusive and the tilapia was the best fish I have ever eaten. Everything was just right, from the salad/bread to the flavorful marinara and both our entrees were out of this world. Unpretentious Italian cooking in just the right atmosphere.
