Edgewater is actually one of my favorite local bars to go to for some good craft brew. They are one fo the few to have Rogue Beers on tap, and the only bar in Illinois to year in and year out receive the Rogue's rare monthly John's Locker Stock offerings. Lots of other beers on tap - and even a beer on the Firkin every now and then. The food is good, but the only thing that changes on the menu is the prices - watch for those daily specials!

They have food here-but don't expect much, it's bar food, but its just a cool place with cool people.

Pros: Neighborhoody

.

I have no gripe with this place. Sure, it LOOKS like a dive, but the beer selection (as I discovered during one of its periodic "beer tastings") is among the city's most enviable. It caters well to high-end suds snobs, but with a no-nonsense, saloon-y 'tude. My brother claims he was hit on here by a creepy older woman, but all the customers I've ever met have been harmless and affable, if a bit blotto. Recommened for those evenings you want a beer, but don't want to rub shoulders with neighborhood scensters. The typical pub grub is available.

PROS: Good beer selection, unassuming atmosphere
CONS: Downscale crowd, uninviting exterior
