I will not go there again. Worse haircut and color/highlight ever! After spending close to $160, I had to make an appt. at another salon to fix the mess! This was by a "Master Stylist" and should not have happened - EVER.

First, I want you to know that this place came highly recommended by several people. I spent over 200 in this salon. I got high and low lights, cut and manicure. The work was bad. Really bad. I don't get upset easily and didn't say much when I left and I tipped her--wish I hadn't. The longer I thought about it the more upset I got. I sat there and listened to so much gossip come out of her mouth and I can't tell you how many times she said "whoops!" (meaning about my head). She couldn't take her eyes off of the other people in the salon, she was everywhere but focused on my hair. 2x she stopped what she was doing and asked someone else for advice on how to continue. I thank her for asking but omg aren't they trained? I have colored my hair before (and will from now on) but I wish i could post a pic. It was the most unproffesional thing ever. It wasn't a nightmare but for the $$ I shoulda been damn happy!! oh, and when she was done with the color she spent about 2 minutes on a haircut which is what I really needed. You ladies know how great your hair feels when you leave the salon? well, not at bj's it feels the same or slightly worse. Be warned!!

Pros: free handwax for new members??

Cons: everything

I've generally been satisfied with their waxing services, but would never get my hair cut there again! My bad experience was actually back in 2005 at the 6th Street Springfield location - I was assigned to an amateur stylist who, instead of thinning my hair with thinning shears, continued to add more and more layers to only one side, leaving me with a haircut that could only be fixed by cutting several inches off all over. I was upset so she called over a more "experienced' stylist to help. The new stylist continued to add more layers to the wrong side and said "it will grow out." At that point, I told them to stop touching my hair, almost in tears. The owner or manager was there and he saw how upset I was at the checkout. I appreciated that he waived the fee for the haircut that day and he offered to cut my hair himself on my next visit, but I still had to let it grow out for a couple of months before doing coming back. He did a good job of fixing the situation, but it should have NEVER happened in the first place. I would not recommend going there for a haircut unless you have an oustanding reference from a close and trusted friend. I also suggest asking for "Master" level, even thought is costs more, and request information on how long they've been in the business, their area of expertise, and possible client references (regardless which salon you go).

I just got a bikini wax at BJ Grand Salon, and I was very surprised with my $90 bill! There is no way that the 15 minutes the esthetician took to wax my bikini area should have been that much money! Maybe if there was no hair left anywhere in the area, but she only did the front area. I would not go back there.

BJ's presents itself as being everything and then some but is not. I was a customer for about 6 mos when I couldn't take the service, stylists or high prices anymore and decided this is enough, I'm switching to a new salon. And I have never been happier. They have a big turn over at the front desk which is a real problem getting an appt, getting checked in or out or remembering who you are why you there. The stylists (even though they will not tell you this) pick and choose who they like and don't and you will not get the best service if they decide for whatever reason they don't like you, (not preppy enough maybe) but still have to pay their high, ridulous prices. Just be careful and cautious if you go to BJ's but remember there are so many other better salons out there that are not prejustice and truly remain bias to you as a customer.

I've always heard good things about BJ's so I decided to try it for myself... Bad idea! On the day of my appointment I went up to the front desk to check in and was ignored for the first 10 minutes. I was just waiting there for 1 of the 3 girls that was standing behind the desk to check me in and not one of them acknowledged me. If it wasn't for one of the stylists I probably would have never gotten checked in. Soon to find out an HOUR later I didn't really even get checked in... They completely forgot about me! They tried to make up for it by giving me a complimentary hair mask that only dried out my hair and my stylist rushed through my hair cut because she had someone waiting on her and my hair ended up looking like CRAP! Needless to say I went to Ippatsu and I will never go anywhere else!

I've been going to Jan for all my waxing needs (brows, lip, chin, etc), and facials. She has "The Touch". She is an expert at eyebrow shaping. It's so relaxing when I get any service from her (even waxing). I feel very comfortable around her. I heard from a friend she will be working at Rod Sickler's Salon & Spa. My friends and I will definetely be following her there!

BJ has a great thing - it's one of, if not the only, salons in the area that runs like and reminds you of a Manhattan salon. You can get all kinds of services there, anything from hair color to spa pedicures to massages. They sell a wide variety of products.

If you really like to be pampered, it can be hard to find a true pampering experience in the area. This is it!!

Beware though, the prices are very high. You get what you pay for though, and you'll love whatever you get at this salon!

This salon and spa has a wide variety of services. You can get your hair done, massage, etc. The nice thing is that you can choose what "level" of technician you want and pay at different levels. Their massages are great and you'll even get a parafin hand dip with your first hair cut. Reasonable price, but on the far west side if you're driving from downtown plan ahead.

BJ's is an excellent one stop shop for everything to pamper yourself.. They do hair, nails, feet, face, massage, spa, etc... I've had many services done and I've never been disappointed. Tori does my hair. She is a senior director and has been there many years. She always does a fabulous job. I have also gotten an hour massage there a few times and it was heaven. I literally felt unconcious. I couldn't believe how relaxed I was. Of course, then I had to return to the real world. Tina waxed my eyebrows and did a fabulous job. She gets it done with as minimal pain as possible. They are a little bit more expensive than other places, but definitely worth the money for a job done excellent the first time!!
