I went to this hospital to donate my kidney. When I got out of surgery and went into the recovery room, I was in extreme pain. The lady in the recovery room was EXTREMELY rude to me. I asked for pain meds and she acted mad and bit my head off. I told her that I felt like I needed to have a bowel movement and her exact words were "Just go on yourself and we'll clean it up later." I asked for a pillow to put under my legs because my back was killing me (I have a bad back) and she acknowledged what I said but never brought one. Then she left and didn't come back to check on me for a really long time. I tried and tried to get someone's attention but no one could hear me yelling because my voice was almost gone from the tube being down my throat. Finally I got someone's attention by reaching over and grabbing the keyboard on the computer and banging it. I asked for a pillow and that person brought one right away. When my nurse came back she was extremely angry that someone else had brought me a pillow and she said "We don't have pillows down here that's why I didn't bring you one!" (after she had just ignore me when I asked for one). Then they made me wait in recovery for over 4 hours because they didn't have the room ready. They wouldn't let me see my family or anything. I felt like I was treated like a criminal, when I had just given someone life! Then the next morning I was starving, I hadn't eaten since 2 days before since you can't eat before surgery. They came in at 6am and told me I could eat anything I wanted. I placed my order and never got ANYTHING at all. Finally at 7:30 we asked for my food and they said it was on it's way. Then we asked again at 8:30, still nothing. Finally at 9:30 my husband went and bought me food himself from the cafeteria. Then they released me. They checked me out and I asked for a wheelchair since it is a HUGE hospital and I could barely walk two steps. We waited an hour and nothing. We asked again and they said they'd get one. We waited over an hour again and nothing. Finally I just walked ALL the way through the entire hospital to our car in complete misery because they wouldn't bring me a wheel chair. I wrote a letter to the hospital explaining my experience and they didn't even contact me to apologize. I wouldn't go back there if it was the last place on Earth!

We had several incident that need emergency care, and we went to the emergency room in this hospital several time. They are pretty quick in giving service comparing to other hospital that we've been to in Chicago. The residence are supervised by the doctor on duty. The staff are so helpful and friendly. We left the hospital knowing that we were taken good care of.
