I used a discount gift certificate from online from a website that they choose to participate with. I was told that the people who use these things are "Cheap!" My first problem with that is that I am the customer and you are taking my money. My second problem with that is your establishment CHOOSES to participate in that program. If you dislike it or condem customers who use them, then don't particpate.

They also had various teas and beverages listed on their menu for one price and then there was a small dry erase board inside the place with the same beverages listed for three times the price. They told us that they were on "special" but there was no difference, so I guess being on "special" to them means they get to charge their customers more money.

Another thing was that when they add gratuity into their guest checks, they calculate it off the after tax total. Isn't that illegal? Isn't it only supposed to be off of food and drinks?

Also, I was not a fan of the dishes they used to serve us. They are mismatched dishes that you would find in someones kitchen from the 70s.

So now to the food, the pad thai was slightly below average and did not have hardly enough meat in it. I couldn't even see it. The crab rangoons were the best thing we ate from the many things we tried. We also ordered a few more entries with beef and chicken as well as a soup. The soup did not have the seafood in it that the menu said it would. When I asked what it was I was told, rice & water. That's probably why it didn't have much of a taste. The beef entry was not too good, the other chicken entry was average.

There are so many good Thai places in the city, and I would love to see more in the suburbs, but this place misses the mark. It lacks flavor in its dishes. There are other carry out places in the area that feature some Thai dishes on their menu that incoorporate more the of the Thai flavors I love. They need to look at their menu so it is accurate with its prices, ingredients, and details. They also need better dinnerware and service. They should show appreciation towards their customers so they will return, not call them names and raise their voice to them. That is highly inappropriate and they will lose customers.

I received a gift certificate for Jewel of Siam. The food was good quality and very flavorful. The owners also operate the Bangkok restaurant in Tinley Park with the same delicious menu.

My wife and I have been going to Jewel of Siam for over four years and NEVER ONCE have we been disapointed. The Jewel of Siam is a family-owned business and a lot of pride goes into their food and service. Highly recommended!!!

Pros: Food, service, quality ingredients

Cons: Plain old ice tea would be nice
