Marvin was fantastic. I stopped in last Friday morning to get a quote on my car. Needed complete frame work, shocks, and struts. Check engine light was on, ABS light was on, and a tune-up was needed. Marvin quoted me $1250 for everything and he could have it back to me by noon on Saturday. He gave me a loner car just in case I needed to get anywhere on Friday and Saturday morning. Went to pick up the car at 11am Saturday morning, and he had change filters, topped off all fluids, and gave me an oil change in addition to all the work that needed to be done and he did not charge me 1 cent over the quote.
I found Marvin through my uncle when my Ford Explore was having problems. I was told by another mechanic that I needed to have all new ball joints. This was going to be over $3000 worth of work. I went to see Marvin and told him I needed a quote to have all my ball joints replaced. After he had my car for an hour he called back and said I needed to have 2 shocks replaced and one new tire. This totaled $200 worth of work. Because he was honest with me I was sold. I have taken 3 different cars to him. He is always fair, honest and never tries to screw me. I have recommended him to many friends who have all had great experiences! For as long as I live in the Chicago area I will bring my car to Marvin's. Marvin's is one of the few businesses left in the neighborhood (in which I grew up in) that has remained true. It you want a Latte with your oil change or if you can't understand someone with a Spanish accent that is a personal problem and you need to have more than just your car fixed!
I have been taking my cars to Marvin for over 9 years. I love Marvin! He and his staff have always been very honest with me and all my friends who also take their cars to Marvin.
I love Marvin's. I have been going for years and have sent friends there that really liked it alot, too. I even stop in just to say hi if I am walking by. Down to earth, reliable and understanding even when you don't have all the money at once for repairs. :) Go there and find out, you won't be sorry. I'm going tomorrow. :)))
My sister-in-law needed some extensive work, and the mechanic in her small town 80 miles SW of Chicago handed her a HUGE estimate. I showed it to Marvin, and he gave a firm quote that was 45% OFF the estimate. It was worth bringing the car all the way to Chicago, and things worked out great. The prices always seem to be about 30-50 percent less than others. They are fast and efficient. They use quality parts, and do quality work If we weren't happy, we wouldn't spend our money there. Marvin has a good thing going on.
A good mechanic at an affordable price is hard to find. Marvin's fits that bill. I have been a customer of Marvin's for 11 years. I went on a trusted recommendation, and I've never looked for another mechanic. We've sent family members and friends, and they're all regular customers now. This place gets the highest rating possible from me, and everyone I've sent. We've moved out to Elgin now, but still take our vehicles to Marvin's.
I've used Marvin's services several times and I've never dissapointed. Marvin is a great guy.

Marvin actually made me get under my car with him so I could look at/touch what he was talking about. As a woman who knows nothing about cars, I appreciate the lesson. Also, the price seems quite reasonable.

I was really happy with the great service I received when an oil change at this garage. Marvin is especially friendly and very helpful. I was able to use oil that I had previously purchased and they just charged me for the change as well as fixing a rear light that I thought had an electrical problem, turned out it was just the bulb. I definitely recommend them!

Marvin's repairs are excellent. No one is perfect, but what you get is honesty, guarantees, respect and conscientious/ straight forward estimates, which he adheres to. We have been coming to Marvin's for at least 10 years. He will take time to explain things to you.
I had a good experience here. They were able to take my car in for much needed repairs and I picked it up a day ahead of schedule. It runs like a champ now.

I am fairly new to this area, and wanted a trustworthy, knowledgeable and great auto repair shop to go to. Marvin's Auto Repair was recommended to me, and I am so glad that I went there. The lady on the phone was very nice when I made the appointment, and in explaining what they would do. They also called to let me know what needed to be done, and I knew I had gone to the right place. Everything was checked over, and now my 20 year old Toyota is happy and so am I! I highly recommend them. Great service and honest service.

If you own an import, this is the place. They serviced and repaired both my Volvos for half the price of most non-dealer Volvo mechanics. They are very reasonable and honest, I'm really glad that I found them. Now I can afford to take care of my car.

i love Marvin.. he is the only mechanic who has offered my money back when he couldnt fix my car.. always reliable and affordable... and really great! I highly recommend them...
After we found out that the repairs to our vehicle were too much to make it worth doing (Wednesday) Marvins said we could leave our car there until Saturday at 2pm for a $90 storage fee. On Thursday we went to Marvins to clean out the car to make sure where ever it was going the car would be empty. When we arrived we found that the car was on a city street, both passenger side doors where left open and the battery in the car was dead. We also noticed that the car had been torn to pieces. After we returned home and started going through the bags from the car we realized that around $500 in electronics and clothing were missing from the car. When I called Marvins on Friday they changed their story from it being a $90 storage fee to a $90 diagnostic fee and that they were not responsible for the missing items because we decided not to have Marvins do the repairs. I have taken two vehicles to Marvins four different times and spent around $5000 in repair services. However after this incident Marvins has lost what was a loyal customer and any future business I would have recommended.

I was driving my car and all of a sudden it wouldn't go in to gear. I had it towed to Marvin's and went to work. They called me within a few hours and told me my clutch went out and how much it would be to fix. They also said it would be done that evening. I agreed to the cost and called later to see if it would be done on time. They had gotten busy but said they would stay after hours to finish for me at no charge. Awesome experience here. I will definitely be going back and recommending them to my friends.
