Wow! Who would have thought? This unassuming little place on 35th Street showcases some of the best talent on the Southside. During the day this place is not much top look at; don?t even get me started on the weekday crowd. But on the weekends this place ROCKS. With a slew of solid Blues, Classic Rock, Covers and Original talent this is the place to come and dance the night away. Admittedly Catchers can use a good cleaning but all in all the Bartender is quick and friendly, the beers are reasonably priced (unlike other sox bars) and the crowd is young and fun, especially when August Burn plays there. The morning after I saw them play my feet were still aching!! I highly recommend checking this place out but call first and see if there is live music. If not you might want to head out of the neighborhood.

Pros: Great for live entertainment.

Cons: Not a great place to take a first date.

I recently moved to Bridgeport in Chicago. I moved from the Northwest suburbs so the neighborhood near US Cellular Field is very different when the White Sox are playing. Now that the area is in winter mode I decided to venture out and experience the nightlife. Catchers Inn or Catchers Music and Sports(Seems as though they have a couple of names) was a nice surprise. They have live music on Fridays and Saturdays and an open mic comedy night on Mondays.

The drinks are very reasonable and they are under going a transition. Still there are a few old timers in the place but they are friendly and never really bother anyone. The crowd is fairly young to middle aged but I never felt like it was not safe. The bartender is very friendly and the crowd is as well.

I would say even if you don't make it to a White Sox game this would be a place to visit. Great Music the night I was there.

Pros: Safe, easy to park, no cover, great service, nice customers

Cons: on off nights might be slow

This place needs to be torn down. Nice bartender's, however the characters in the joint are as scary as they come. Filled with Bridgeport's worst, half of them blasted while laying on the bar. Try Shinnick's or Mitchell's (both very close) if you want to experience a nice neighborhood bar.

Went here once and that was enough. Can you spell: dirty. The people were nice, except that not a single woman was around. This was the kind of place where old men sleep on the bar and get blasted for $20. It's kind of eerie for a woman...and though Bridgeport is lovely, this kid of brings down the area.

I like the bartender and he was quick to serve us. We didn't stay for more than 2 hours because the atmospher was dead and awkward. It seems like the type of place where the same 8 people show up every day.

Pros: Decent prices for the drinks, a friendly bartender and convenient location

Cons: Dark, weird, bad music, a guy was sleeping on the bar, harsh swearing and dead
