Pros: Nice bartenders, good drinks, crazy in the best way possible

Cons: No food, but not a big con at all.

I love this bar!!! If you want to listen to good rock music that you can't hear in most watered down places in this Old Navy covered city, and hot bartenders with tattoos turn you on then head there. I, myself, am a very average looking guy, I just like the vibe of a hard rock bar, and that's what you get there. A cheap beer, a shot of well whiskey and decent music. Sold

By day, the exterior of this punk/goth bar suggests it has not been open for some time. By night, it's the only destination on the block, and if you look closely, you'll see a trickle of punk kids, bikers, rockers, a dominatrix or two, and even a confused looking yuppie wander in. Each night has a different theme, including Bondage A-Go-Go on Thursdays. Saturdays offer a terrific $3 Kilo Rum drink special and the dark pumping beats of DJ Jeff Moyer upstairs. Be sure to pose against the fence upstairs and if you're lucky, you may catch Battle Royale on the TV screen. Despite its unpredictable crowd and rugged appearance, Exit is really just a friendly haven for those looking to avoid, or "exit" all together the trendy mainstream nightspots, which in reality are much scarier than Chicago's original punkrock bar.

This is a place for punks, rockers and bondage lovers. I came here to see In Flames with a couple of friends. The place is kind of dark, but it's awesome. They have cages where girl get in and perform their bondage acts. The crowd here is really cool and so is the staff. The drinks are not expensive.

I used to hang at the "ORIGINAL EXIT " on Wells St / North Ave back in latter 70s & 80s and this Exit now lives up to the Original name ..if your a PUNK or a ROCKER this still is your home RIP O'Banions - & La Mare

If you are looking for the alternative scene, Exit is the best bar in Chicago. Downstairs always plays punk rock and some heavy metal. Great music that, even though is loud, still creates an athmosphere that is good to hang out with

My girlfriend and I came up for the Das Ich show at The Bottom Lounge, which was cancelled. Later that night after driving around the city for a few hours we came across Exit. We stopped in because it looked like "our" kind of place

In Short
The Exit crowd's look--black leather, PVC and latex--recalls Chicago's industrial heyday, when the Wax Trax label had cachet. But the people are as nice as their threads are intimidating. Amid the gothic,…
