The last pizza I bought from Italian Village had no taste was like eating cardboard! Tasted like they heated up a frozen pizza and served it to me? The food from Italian Village is horrible compared to what it used to be. IV's needs to take a dramatic turn or i'm finished with them.

Zero Stars. Extremely overpriced crap food. Owners throw out your application if you are black. All beef products are really beef-pork-chicken blends. Don't eat at Italian Village if you find racism or vomiting unappealing.

The owners of Italian Village are hardcore racists who will throw out your application if you apply there and happen to be black. They also charge three times what their crap food is worth on pretty much every dish. their shrimp is particularly foul. All beef products are actually beef-pork-chicken blends. Don't eat at IV if you don't enjoy racism or vomiting for $30.

Pros: If you like racism and low quality then I guess thats a pro

Cons: Hardcore racist owners, Exremely overpriced crap food, etc.

Don't expect a Prosciutto panini or Penne Arrabbiata when you go to Italian Village. This place is much more Fazoli's than, say, A Voce NYC. Really, It's not even Olive Garden. It's americanized Italian food-meaning pizza, pasta, and some sandwiches. The atmosphere is fun. You can write on the walls and generally be as loud as you want to be. It's an atmosphere that is perfect for the party-school crowd that makes up its customer.base.
Service is almost non-existent. You stand in line to place an order and then you sit down until your order number is called over the loudspeaker. You then pick up your order at the counter. Beverages are self-serve as well.
In fact, ever since that one girl that used to work there went off to become a math teacher, the help even seems to be bothered by you being there.
I know it sounds like I am slamming the place. And I guess I am. But I do go there sometimes when I have my children (ages 2 and 7) with me in Carbondale. They love the spaghetti and I love that I don't have to tell them to quiet down in the restaurant. IV's has it's charms, but to rate it a 5-star restaurant is rediculous.

Guys, really. The food was completely sub par and the decor was VFW. The ravioli tasted like the stuff I get from Aldi and the overall experience was poor . Bad bad bad.

Well..since graduating high school in 75 and moving here and there, I have yet to find an Italian Beef sandwich that compares to IVs! I have even called and begged them for the recipe so I can make it at home..STILL no luck..If anyone knows the recipe, I would love to have it!! Kerry Kennedy Pittsburgh PA..CCHS Class of 75

In my opinion, Italian Village (or IV's as it is locally known as) serves the greatest pizza in the Carbondale area. My mother graduated from SIU many years ago, and still loves going to IV's to reminisce all the great experiences she had there. The atmosphere is also very amazing. When you go, make sure to leave your mark on the walls--hopefully someday you will be able to go back to IV's and find it!

This place has been around for awhile, and they really know how to make a great pizza. Plus, there is free ice cream cones--which makes it that much better of a meal!

The pizza is inexpensive, you do not have to leave a tip at the end of the meal, and they are definitely the best in the area. If you haven't tried it yet, I definitely recommend Italian Village!

This used to be the best pizza and spaghetti place around. The pizza is not that great anymore. I'm not sure if they changed cooks or recipe. The atmosphere is still nice to hang our with friends and family.

Italian Village is still the best pizza I've ever eaten. I never realized just how much of a rarity great pizza is until I moved away. I've yet to find any pizza in the greater Kansas City area (where I live now)that even comes close to I.V.'s (...local name for it). The sauce is superb, and the crust is just delicious. Toppings are toppings, in my opinion. (pepperoni tastes like pepperoni, etc). The sauce and the crust are what make the pizza, and they are both superb here. I remember the Italian beef sandwich being very good also, but whenever I make it back home, I don't stray from the pizza....it's a sure thing every time. My wife and son look forward to eating there every trip home! I'm a little confused about the aforementioned "rough neighborhood" review though....perhaps if you grew up in a gated community. Never had any problems or felt remotely unsafe to me, nor have I ever heard of anyone else having concern.

Italian Village offers nothing less than outstanding food! I've never had anything bad to eat there. I love the pizza with ham, onions, and mushrooms. The salad bar and italian beef are good too. The location is not all that great as it is located in a rougher neighborhood of Carbondale.
