I purchased my last 2 boats from Ahlstrand Marine and it has always been a good experience. Everything on the boat, motor and trailer were gone over and explained or demonstrated to me. The boats were cleaned and detailed inside and out. When I left with each of my new boats I knew how to operate all the accessories, how to start the engine and how to launch and retreive the boat onto the trailer. I have been very satisfied with my dealings with Ahlstrand Marine and plan to continue doing business there.

My family has been shopping at Ahlstrand Marine and having our boat serviced there for as long as I can remember. All the people there are more than helpful and ready to give guidance with advice regarding anything boating. They always have great prices on a wide assortment of boat accessories and many times have prices that beat anything you can find on the internet.

I recently came across Ahlstrand Marines website while searching for a new pontoon boat. I called and contacted a Mike in sales. We talked for a good while and I was informed that they had a few models I might be interested in. I stopped by the store and got a complete run down on all the pontoon boats they carried (they had alot). Mike was extremely knowledgable on their product and I bought my boat that day. I had a few additional options added (a trolling motor and depth/fishfinder) to the boat. The service department did a quick, profesional job at a fair price. I am very happy with my experience at Ahlstrand Marine and would recommend them to anyone.

If you are looking for a professional boat dealer for sales and service, I would highly recommend looking for an alternative to Ahlstrand Marine in Mundelin, Illinois.
I purchased a new aluminum fishing boat from them this past February 07 and had them store the boat for me until spring (which I paid for) Upon picking the boat up, the shrink wrap was not removed per my instructions, the boat was not cleaned at all-was filthy dirty. This is a new boat. I received no owners manual or orientation whatsoever from anyone in sales.I was made to feel that I was almost bothering them. This is my third boat purchase from a dealer. While I am satisfied with the purchase price of the boat (listed on E-Bay), their customer service is /was severely lacking. My prior experiences with two past dealers spoiled me in that they had my new boat, washed, waxed, and eager to go-over my new purchase with me. (I should mention that neither of these two past dealers carry the marine line that I was interested in otherwise I certainly would have stuck with them!)

Following the purchase, I had the motor in twice for service (my used motor-not theirs) and folllowing the pick-up, repair requests were not completed as specified. No notification was given upon completion of my first repair and on the second repair, when I called after a one week time period after dropping the boat off to see if a technician had an opportunity to look at it, I asked the Ahlstrand employee on the phone, "Hello, my name is Steve and I dropped my boat off over a week ago and was hoping." "For a miracle?" was the recipients snippy remark. "Uh...not exactly, just if service has had an opportunity to look at my boat for a repair estimate. The fella at your counter told me to check in after a couple of days, I waited a week."

Both times my repair ticket stated that the motor had been run in the shop tank and both times my engine would not start following an outing immediately following the 'repair' (The engine was brough into the shop because it was not starting or idling) $1500.00 later and the engine is still not starting properly. When I requested the cost of a new replacement motor, they quoted me motors several hundred dollars over the NADA value and Bass Pro Shop down the street in Gurnee. Nice, huh?

In all fairness, one can get a fair deal on a aluminum boat at this facility but their customer service, professional courtesy, and repair center had me looking for a replacement dealer almost immediately.
