Went with two friends, had a good experience. We shared a couple of appetizers and some fajitas. The guacamole was pretty standard, however the chorizo quesadillas were wonderful. We shared steak & chicken combo fajitas, family-style, which ended up being the perfect amount of food. With the appetizers at about 7 bucks each and the fajitas at 20, it allowed us to spend some $$ on their great margaritas. The service was not great, not bad. An overall nice place that I would recommend to others.

It's kinda tough finding a good mexican place that has a decent location and can accommodate a group. That's exactly what El Jardin offers. Before/After a Cubs game stop in and try their Carne Asada, Enchiladas, and OF COURSE the margaritas. Their margaritas make my top 5 in the city. I love the patio. All around great restaurant!!!

Pros: Excellent Food/Menu, Great Drinks, Patio Dining, Perfect Location!

Cons: Parking of course!

.

I guess I should have thought twice before getting takeout from a place that specializes in margaritas, but I thought the food would at least be decent. I was very wrong. The portions are average at best and the food is flavorless. I wouldn't eat here ever again.

If you do eat at one of the outdoor seating area expect to leave as soon as you're done eating. The food was okay.

El Jardin's, hands down, has the best margaritas in the Chicagoland area. The service providers have always been attentive and the fact that it is family operated makes you feel welcome. The atmosphere is pleasing both indoors and out. Whether I'm w/ friends, family, co-workers or all of the above, I enjoy visitng there all year around. Not only are the margaritas good, but the coffee is to die for!

Pros: Great people, Fabulous Margaritas, Awesome location

.

Im surprized this is considered a cantina when its a full sevice restaurant, with excellent food. It should also be nominated for great outdoor dining with two gardens. This restarant has been at the same location since 1967.

We had heard good things about El Jardin, so we decided to go before a Cubs night game. We were surprised to sit down right away outside (around 6:15 pm). The food was OK. Even though it wasn't very busy that night, our waitress never stopped by to ask us if we wanted another drink.

Pros: Close to Wrigley, Immediate Seating

.

The only draw to this place is the location and outdoor seating. The staff is slow and if you sit outside, they pester you to order more or hustle you out. The margaritas are poor. The food is substandard. Ceasars has the best margaritas in Chicago. El jardin is just another bad mexican resturant casualty.

The waiter was rude once he learned we weren't purchasing any margaritas, and provided lousy service filling glasses and bringing chips and salsa. The enchiladas I had were burned as was the entree my friend ordered. We felt hurried the whole meal and were left with an unpleasant dining experience.

the margaritas at this place are lethal. if you can take two, you'll be seeing stars and walking on your hands. the food is average, but the chips and salsa are good. combine that with the margaritas and you can have a grand ole time with friends here on the cheap!

El Jardin has been part of wrigleyville forever. It is owned and operated by a truely mexican family, no mexican wanna be's. The food is traditional mexican and the carne asada a michel is recommended. It is reasonably priced with killer margaritas. If you want a place to enjoy great mexican food with a very nice atmosphere, this is the palce.

I love this place. The patio is great to sit in during the summer and drink the best and strongest margeritas in the city while enjoying El Jardin's delicious and affordable mexican food. The enchilada's are my favorite dish here. The service is fast and friendly, and the food is excellent and a great value.

The margaritas are strong. What else needs to be said? El Jardin's is not known for the quality of their food but more so for the quality of their margaritas. The food is good enough to eat, not the best but not the worst and the wait is friendly and prompt.

I agree with an earlier reader -- I just don't see the draw. The first time I was there everything was great until I ordered. We got a great table on enclosed patio in the back. But the service was slow, the fajitas were average and the margaritas were bland. And to top it off, the bill left us feeling cheated.

Pros: back patio

Cons: margaritas

Editorial from

The garden (Jardin) is a pleasant enough place to enjoy one of the best margaritas in town, and the salsa isn't half bad either. From there, you can move through the traditional Mexican repertoire. It's all here---chiles rellenos, carneā€¦
