My dissapointment in the PETCO company is beyond words and I find the actions of the Clybourn store operators to be abhorent.

My mother who has been a loyal & very good customer, was dropping off her recent PAWS foster at the Clybourn Center. Due to a lack of parking on the street she parked at PETCO and also intended on doing a little shopping there once she returned the foster dog for the PAWS annual fur ball event. However, after being in PAWS for less than 15 minutes she came out to discover that PETCO had her towed while she was at PAWS. I am almost speechless with absolute disgust that PETCO's concern for animals extends only as far as their own greed that they would have a customer towed when they were dropping off a foster to PAWS, especially considering their lot was mostly empty and my mom had intended to shop at PAWS once she no longer had the foster dog in her care . Needless to say my mom decided not to do her shopping at PETCO after discovering her car was missing and instead she had to pay over $200 to cab it to the south side and get her car back. Neither myself nor my mom will ever shop at PETCO again and instead will from now on give our business to their competitors. Plus, PETSMART on Elston is cheaper!

We go to this Petco for grooming because they know our dog, and always treat her well (Alyssa, the grooming manager, is amazing and super sweet to Lula). They are also right across the street from PAWS Chicago (a wonderful no-kill shelter). They offer coupons to people who rescues animals from PAWS to help you get started taking care of your new pet. They carry most items that you need for basic care (toothpaste/brushes, crates, treats, Furminators, poop-bags, etc). The store is set up in a manner that is easy to navigate and find what you need. The check-out staff always seems a little annoyed, but is helpful when pressed.

I have taken my Bichon twice to be groomed at the Clybourn location and both times it was a disaster. The first, I dropped my dog off and returned several hours later to pick him up, where I found him to be ungroomed. When I questioned why he hadn't had his hair cut, the groomer told me that she thought I only wanted him bathed. I was surprised because I had specifically written on the card that I wanted the treatment including a bath, haircut, and nail trimming. When I asked why she though that, she got defensive and told me she was understaffed. I then had to wait another 1/2 hr while she groomed my dog, and still had to pay the full $40.\r\n\r\nI gave them the benefit of the doubt since I had been told they were understaffed, so I tried them a second time. The groomer this time around was a man and right away he seemed unqualified. I specified that I wanted me dog's hair the same basically, just shorter. He was unsatisfied with this, and kept asking me again and again how I wanted my dog's hair cut. I finally told him I liked his hair to be a bit shaggier, but it just needed to be shorter. When I returned to pick up my dog a few hours later, I was horrified to find him shaved nearly bald. Needless to say, I won't be taking my dog there again. They seem very disorganized and somewhat incompetent.

Pros: Uses Kiehl's dog shampoo

Cons: Staff seems inexperianced, miscommunication problems
