.

A friend of mine called to book a party at Jun Bar and without the owner
knowing who they were the he asked, "Is your party gonna be predominantly
African American?" Why would he ask such a question? In my opinion, it
is reason enough to NEVER EVER EVER patronize this venue ever again. It is 2009
and to discriminate openly without even knowing who you are speaking to
over the phone is UNACCEPTABLE. It's a bit offensive to implying that you don't want an "African American" crowd, by singling out a race of people. It is reason enough to never set foot in
this place.

On top of that, when having an event at the location, the place was a filthy hot mess.
The bathroom was not cleaned, there were cups and wet napkins
left on the floor and in the DJ booth from previous nights. People
hosting the party (meaning we) ended up cleaning, because the staff and owner had
not, in order to make the place presentable for guests coming to the event.
There was even broken glass that had not been swept up. Ridiculous!!! Not
only do they not appreciate patrons, they don't value business,
aesthetic or cleanliness. There is no way someone paying to have an
event should be cleaning the restroom, DJ booth and lounge area for a
place they don't own or work at! As much as one would try to like this place, it is a
complete disappointment.

Pros: no cover

Cons: cleanlines and value of patronage needs some serious attention

Division street has become the ying/yang. To those who remember nothing from ashland to western, except MAS, Gold star, bar 13, you understand. Now I think twice before I walk down division in the am wearing flipflops. It's nuts!!! But I like what Jun Bar is doing. A crisp upscale bar, with great, and strong drinks, with a corner bar local mentallity; This place is fun!! The fact that the owner is always there, and is so down to earth, is refreshing. The staff is great, the music is great( they take requests), and the price is beautious. Plus, they have the only upstairs dance/lounge with no cover, anywhere in that hood. I moved to New York a few weeks ago, and I miss CHICAGO, but i really miss this type of hood friendly joint. Check this place out and tell JOE, that Chris says hey.
