4 Stars: Good food and atmosphere (by Dorota K.)

I love Galena. I am willing to drive 2.5 hours from when I live just to enjoy the feel of this cute little town. Vinny Vanucchi's Littly Italy is always a lunch spot when I visit. The food is great and the ambiance very Italian. I only wish this place was closer to home.

1 Stars: The Worst experience (by Danile H.)

My girlfriend and I have just returned from our peaceful weekend away in Galena. We had a fantastic time except for our lunch time visit to Vinny Vanucchi's. The experience was terrible. Our waitress would disappear for 15 minutes at a time, and we were the only table she was serving. The appetizers came out five minutes before the main course. Every glass brought to our table was dirty, leaving unidentified "floaters" in every drink. When I nicely told the waitress there was something floating around in my drink, she took it away and brought me a new one; this one also with a filthy glass. She explained to me that the first one looked the way it did because it was supposed to. Really? Does Goose Island know they put small black bits of something and leftover soap residue in their beer? She did say that the first drink would be taken off the bill, which it was. Next, when our meals where brought out I looked down in amazement at what I was given. It certainly wasn't what I had ordered. I didn't know veal parmesan could be a dark brown color. I nicely told the waitress that this wasn't what I had ordered and she apologized saying she must have hit the wrong button when punching in our order. After we identified what it was sitting in front of me, I said that I would keep and try the chicken marsala. She explained that that would also be taken off the bill. My girlfriend and I tried to eat what they call pasta to no avail. We barely touched our plates. I've made better pasta then that by accident. The Olive Garden's pasta is a hundred times better. Since we were still hungry, we thought we would try out some of the dessert thinking that they have to do one thing right. We were wrong. The solidly frozen, brick like mass was supposed to be key lime cheesecake, but it wasn't even close. At this point we erred on the side of caution and ending our dining experience. And what and experience it was. Oh, and that veal parm/ chicken marsala screw up wasn't taken off our bill. How nice of them. And if all of the above wasn't enough, both my girlfriend and I ended up sick in our hotel room later that night. Thanks for a great time Vinny!

5 Stars: WOW (by Chris M.)

You could make a whole meal just out of their cheese bread! They are huge. During the busy shopping season in Galena, Vinny Vanucchi's fills up quickly, so you may have to make a reservation, but it is worth the wait. After a long day of shopping, it's nice to come back to an air conditioned place with awesome food and good wine and relax for a bit.

They are medium priced for their entrees, but again, it is worth it. We go every time we're in Galena.

5 Stars: Vinny's is so good! (by Tracy D.)

Vinny Vanuchi's is so good! Do not miss this one if you go to Galena! It is located over several floors of a restored old building. the interior is cute and cozy, with alot of pictures and decorations from "the old country". The service is great and it is a family owned and operated business. The food is abosolutely decious. The prices are reasonable and you will most certainly have leftovers, after eating hot crusty bread, salad, and your entree. be sure to save room for dessert. the tiramisu is great!
