The restaurant, established across from the hustling Merchandise Mart, is a fixture in the River North neighborhood. The newly remodeled dining room and bar is set with warm, earthy tones. In the main dining room, white cloth tables complement the cozy, oversized mocha leather booths. Charming black-and-white prints of old Chicago framed simply in black adorn the walls, along with a chalkboard announcing the daily wine specials. The Kinzie bar is sleek and contemporary with an inviting feel.

In Short
A plum location across from the Merchandise Mart keeps this dimly lit steakhouse buzzing. Lunch highlights include the classic Chophouse salad with mixed greens, sliced tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumbers, and the crab-cake sandwich served on a toasted onion roll with roasted red-pepper aioli. Steaks come in a variety of cuts and sizes, from a 12-ounce dry-aged New York to a 48-ounce porterhouse for two. Side dishes include sauteed spinach and mushrooms.

My wife and I were referred to this steak house by the conceirge (sp?) of our hotel and were not disappointed. I couldn't believe how busy the restaurant was. Apparently there was a big convention in town. My wife especially liked the way the host carried her drink for her to the table.
The steaks and service were great! We will definitely be back.

Pros: Service, Ambience

Ratings_icons Top Ten steak house!

The Kinzie Chophouse is a fantastic steak house. The members of the Chicago Steak Club recently paid a visit to Kinzie and were awed by the fine steaks and great service. When the valet parking was backed up, the manager came out and parked my car. The menu was full of great steak choices. I had the 14 ounce filet cooked medium rare and it was perfect. The potato sides were excellent. The spicy black bean soup was outstanding. The menu even had a steak that was $19.95 which one of our members tried and found it to be excellent. The place was packed yet the service was outstanding. I would highly recommend a trip to the Kinzie Chophouse. You will not be disappointed.

Pros: great steak, great sides, great service

Cons: none

The service was very good; attentive and friendly staff and quick seating (we were fairly early though). The grilled scallop appetizer was very good but on the peppery side. The lamb chops were excellent but the mashed potatoes, again, were on the peppery side. Would definetly go back as it was a fun and enjoyable experience.

Ratings_icons Service?

pinkycutiepie

I can't believe the service I received when I came in. The host on a Saturday night wasn't too friendly. The staff was busy and I did not get seated until 15 minutes later and I didn't receive the menu until another 10-15 minutes. The waiter was unpleasant and tried to rush me to order and
out of the restaurant so the next guest can come in. I DON'T RECOMMEND this place at all!!!!!!!

Ratings_icons Horrible service

efrost6

We were extremely disappointed by our experience at Kinzie Chophouse. For a restaurant that looks promising from the outside, the service was absolutely horrible. Although we were seated promptly, it must have taken at 10-15 minutes before we were asked for drink and offered a menu. The food was average at best. However for the price that you're charged, I expected something above par. Overall, I cannot recommend Kinzie. There are too many other fine establishments around River North to consider Kinzie.

Pros: adequate paid parking

Cons: horrible service, average ambiance, average food

Ratings_icons Best Steak Value in Chicago

jennykusa

I have been to virtually every steakhouse in the Chicago area, and Kinzie's is by far one of the best. Not only is the food exceptional, but the value is the best to be found. Be sure to try the stuffed/loaded baked potato and onion rings on the side!

Pros: value, food, service

Cons: none

Ratings_icons Nice, quiet bar

jameswevley_citysearch

I've only had dinner here a couple times, but, have been in the bar area for numerous nights. Service is timely and polite, the drinks are well-made. Appetizers are significantly reduced in price before 6pm.
