I wasn't sure what this hotel would deliver, but when one travels last minute to Chicago on a busy event weekend, affordable options are not abundant. Reviews on other sites made me leery, but since my son was not with me, I thought I would give this one a go.

First and foremost..this is NOT a place for children. Of the few channels on the television, porn is one, and since you wouldn't want to go out at night with kids, channel surfing is going to be about the only thing to do in the room. Also, there were sex noises in adjacent rooms of mine all night long. Non stop. Again, NOT a place for children.

My room was junky, but clean. Not the kind of place one wants to take their shoes off in, but the linen was clean and smelled fresh. In a smoking room, I was pleasantly surprised that it did not smell smokey at all. Staff was helpful and friendly. Not sure what the situation is for second floor rooms, but my first floor room facing Cicero had private entry and I feel this is safer, as I never know what may happen in an unsecure hall way. The doors don't seem as secure as one would hope for, but the lock was sturdy, and if I had been smarter, I think I would have put the desk in front of the door, just to be extra cautious. But, really, other than the sex noises all night long, there was nothing shady going on that I saw. And I was peeping out the window all night long, out of bordem, as the noises kept me awake.

The 24 hour restaurnat next door (Brandy's) is great. I had the BLT that for under $7 had fried, cole slaw pickle and soup. It was great.

Overall, while my experience was not terrible, I probably would not stay there again unless my husband was along. It is probably not the safest for a lone female to stay. I can not stress enough how much this place is not for kids. I didn't hate this place, but I feel that I may have just gotten lucky. If you have a sense of adventure and do not balk at a room that is very rough around the edges in questionable surroundings, give them a go.

The place smelled musty...The sign posted in the office stated NO Prostitution but I was clearly disturbed by some of the patrons who I came across while going to my room clearly looked like hookers. For the price I paid I would had traveled further for a better room but I just came from the airport ...I checked out the next day early.

I was initially put off by the signs in the lobby: "absolutely no prostitution'; "no more than 2 people in a bed or you will be kicked out"; and "no refunds allowed 10 minutes after check in". I feared the worst.

But it was clean. The TV was good and there were no roaches or other critters crawling about. The locks were flimsy and the rooms opened directly onto the street, but everything was ok.

A nice motel. I find it better than other motels around the area. It seems to haev a more clean and new look to it. Doesnt feel so 'junky.' Its pretty affordable too. Tehy have a nice, but small meeeting room in the basement which can be used for all sorts of events. The basement is the very first palce in the motel I actually visted for a graduation party. It was nice.

I took my girlfriend to this one here. The Skylark Motel and Suites will make you feel like you spent your money right and exact. The place is filled with wonderful paintings and artistic fixtures. The rooms are all quiet and you don't feel like you are on top of another person. Spacious and lovely, the Skylark Motel and Suites is the place to be with the one you love.

PROS: Quality, comfort
CONS: Prices are high
