A group of six of us went to the restaurant last Saturday evening. When we arrived, only four of us were there since the two others were running late. We told our server that we would order without the two others since we didn't know how late they would be. Then the owner of the restaurant approached us three times and said, "So, I guess your friends aren't coming." And one of the times, I said, "No, they still are." And he replied, "Yeah. Right." Then, the fourth time the owner came to our table, he asked us how our food was. Then, he went to the empty chair (where the person who had not yet arrived would be sitting) and looked at the chair and started talking to the chair and said, "And how about you? Do you like the meal? You fooled me by saying you would come, didn't you?" Then, when the check came, we asked the server to split the bill on to different credit cards. The server then began to berate my friend by saying, "You should have told me sooner. This is very, very inconvenient for me. But, fine, I'll do it this time." Then, he went to split up the check on our separate cards and when he returned to the table, he said, "I just want you to know that I did it this time, but if we had been busy, there is no way I would have done this for you. It's customary for you to tell us in advance if this is what you want to do. I had to do this manually and calculate how much to put on each card. I don't have a computer to do this, you know." Then when we told him he was being extremely rude to us he just turned around and walked away. Then, when he returned he said, "Listen, I was just telling you that it was very inconvenient and that you should have told me sooner. I'm sorry if you misunderstood that and thought I was being rude." First of all, I have eaten in restaurants all over the world, from New York to Paris to Tokyo to Cape Town to Marrakech and have almost NEVER experienced this type of rude and unprofessional service (I have never before had such a bad experience that I've written a review to warn people). Second of all, the server's attempt at an apology basically was him telling us that it was our fault for "misunderstanding" him, which is hardly an apology. Not only was the owner ruder, but the server was also rude. While the food was decent, the service soured our entire experience. Please be warned!

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Terrible service.

Every once in a while you come across that perfect restaurant, you know, the one with the romantic little nook bar with the bartender who knows how to make the perfect drink; a wonderful waiter that gives you flawless service. I went with my family; we all had a different dish and they were fabulous! My husband is still talking about the duck! We completed our experience with incredible desserts, and met the charming owner, Alain. I can?t wait to go back. Le Petit Paris met our expectations and more.

I recently took a new friend on our first date here. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly man, I think his name was Alain. He took her coat and mine and sat us at a wonderful table. He was very helpful in recommending dishes and wine pairings. I had the escargot and fillet minion. The fillet was cooked to perfection. Tender and juicy on the inside. She had the lamb which was lean and perfectly cooked. He helped me chose a French red wine (I don't remember) that paired wonderfully with our dinner. His desserts were to die for. I especially enjoyed the bread pudding and ice cream. Overall, the food was perfect, the service was great, and the atmosphere was just right for our first date. I look forward to coming back many times, hopefully with the same girl.

I love this place! YOU MUST COME HERE AND TRY IT FOR YOURSELF. I've eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world. El Buli, French Laundry, Taillevent, Per Se, Jean George, Daniele. This place is NOT as magnificent, however, the quality of the food, atmosphere, and service is a close interpretation. From the traditional escargot to the, French Soup, you will be in classic French heaven. The Fillet and the Lamb is perfectly done. The owner Alain is always around for great friendly service. The atmosphere is cozy and slightly dated, but warm and comforting. I highly recommend the best bread pudding in Chicago.

DO NOT GO HERE on a special day. Try not to EVER go at all.
Worst restaurant experience in my life, and it happened on a Valetine's Day. Since the new owner came in, this has go down, down down. Very, I mean very bad service. He is not French at all. We waited for a table for like 30 minutes, while there were 3 empy tables that we could see. I told the Hostess (who was the only polite person there) and she told the owner, who while leaning on the wall, told us to sit. He tries to do everything, and he just cannot. It took us another 20 minutes to order the food. He pretended to be bussy, and was telling some people that there was no meat, while we had beef. Very rude guy, and he STINKS... believe me, he smells realy bad. Total A-hole. When I asked to validate the parking (which he told me to use) he gave me a sarcastic smile, and left the table talking softly... He came back with the validated parking, to make it even worse, he told us that is was "$6 for the parking, it is much better than $20, right?"
I think he was just jelaous, because I was with my beautiful girlfriend, for 5 years, and we kept laughing at the things he did, instead of getting mad at his unpolite manners.
This is the first time I give a bad review for a restaurant in Chicago.
Do yourself a favor, don't go. If you go, let me know your experience, but Le Petit Paris and his owner just STINK.

A fine french restaurant. From the appetizers to the desserts, everything was exceptional. The chef visited our table often to make sure we were pleased with our selections.

We dined at this charming, warm restaurant and felt like we were in Paris! This used to be Zavens, which we loved - we were delighted to find the new owners had not only filled Zaven's shoes, but made them better! The service is unflaggingly good, and achieves that delicate balance of professional AND warm. The food was flawless, and to top it off there was a jazz singer/piano player providing the perfect accompaniment to such a great evening. The restrooms are a treat in themselves - the art is adorable. Try this romantic gem!
