great food!

by linda B. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 998

I frequent this place because the food is very good and relatively cheap (my favorite combination!). I also enjoy the atmosphere inside the restaurant, in particular, the "mood" lighting and seating. I have never made reservations for dinner, but have always been seated promptly.

Well, at it LOOKS like Thai

by tflucht

Ate dinner here with an open mind, given the variety of the reviews. The restaurant is decorated nicely, the seating is interesting, and the prices are very affordable. But the food is so poor you really should go somewhere else. It was a very disappointing dinner. I must give the food only one star. From the Tom Yum soup through the three entrees we tried, the food was sorely lacking in taste, heat, or passion. It's as if the dishes were prepared from photos of dishes at other Thai restaurants: it looked like Thai food, it just didn't taste like it. All the dishes were under-seasoned, lacking in flavor, and flat. That just should not be.

Pros: Decor, seating

Cons: Food

Fantastic Tom Yum Soup!!

by breakfastfruit

Giving a place one star simply because they won't deliver directly to your office door seems really unfair. However, I have never order delivery so I'll stay quiet on that. I've been to Singha 4 times so far and every time, I was extremely pleased. I HIGHLY recommend getting the Tom Yum soup -- SO delicious, just the right balance of lemongrass, basil, and spice (I think it's best with chicken). I also really recommend the Chicken Pad Ped (for you coconut curry lovers). Honestly, the Pad Thai (which tends to be a reliable thai dish) was not that great here, I recommend branching out. The service was great, the food delicious, and the prices totally reasonable. I definitely recommend going as a group and sharing a bunch of dishes.

Pros: tom yum soup, chicken pad ped, service, prices

Cons: pad thai

SAYS THEY DELIVER BUT THEY DON'T!

by alfamausy

The food is relatively good, but don't expect delivery to an office downtown. Their policy is to deliver to the front desk only. I called the manager and was told that was the policy for twenty years and was totally unapologetic. If I could go downstairs for my lunch, I would have. Clearly that's why I pay a substantial delivery fee and tip well.

Bad Thai Ever!!!

by msk0627

-Got there @ 8pm. it was empty
-No Taste Thai ice tea, very watery -Pad Thai was bad, overcooked noodle, they made it too soft, and tasted like ketchup with rice noodle and it got alittle bit cold, which was worse then My Thai. (My Thai had ketchup Pad Thai too!)
-My friend didn't even finished her dish ....
-Appetizer were bad too!
-Tom Yum Soup was the only that had better taste... but still over all, I'd recommend Opart on Western ave.
-Me and my friends finally decided that this is the first Thai place we are not going to come back again, no second time!!!
-We have tried more than 10 Thai restaurants in Chicago, this is the worse! Don't go!

Pros: Service(this is the only thing i could say for Pros), Maybe cheap but don't fool your stomach

Cons: Overrated

great thai!

by pittman50md

I'm an avid diner of Thai restaurants and I must say that the food at Singha was very good! The best thing about the overall dining experience was the value...I was amazed at how cheap all the food was. Also, if you're looking for a dinner spot where you can actually hear yourself speak, then this is a great place. I definitely recommend and would go again.

Pros: inexpensive, not crowded, convenient parking

DELICIOUS!

by r11

A great place to meet for lunch with friends or co-workers... the food is excellent, the restaurant is beautifully decorated in authentic thai handicrafts with a touch of modernity, and the service was prompt and friendly. I recommend Singha to anyone who wants delicious thai food (expertly prepared) on a budget.

Pros: convenient location, outdoor seating, fast service

YUMMM

by Sharlie1063

I was first introduced to Tai food at singha. I would have to say the rest of the places I have been just have not compared to them. I had the Yellow Curry Chicken the first time. Now I have even moved on to the Tofu dishes.

I recommended Singha to a friend as a good date place. It is romantic but not overboard. She had nothing but rave reviews, and was thankful for the suggestion.

Cheap food downtown

by robyngalbos_citysearch

This place is absolutely packed at lunchtime. If you're not eating in, go a little early and get out before the masses arrive. Even when it's overflowing with people, however, they still manage to keep track of takeout orders and people who are waiting. The food is consistently good and at these prices, it's one of my favorites.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Lunchtime crowds
