.

The floor plan has light entering the apartment from only one direction and lights had to be left on constantly to light the whole apartment. The hallway takes up too much usable space in the apartment. The laundry room smelled like urine and mold.
Constantly the apartment was uncomfortably hot and the AC could not cool it enough - not to mention it is expensive to run - and bad for the environment.
Furthermore, my teenage son has ADHD. Do Not move into this complex if your son or daughter has a problem like this, the noise travels and the management is intolerant of problems. Probably, if you have a teenager this is not a good fit. The administrators of the complex gossip unprofessionally about the residents. Not only did I hear this myself, but I also had neighbors tell me they had heard really private information being discussed openly in the office. Several of my neighbors were very angry because they felt it was in violation of privacy and privacy laws.
Security deposite. The above mentioned community had my security deposite as the last month's rent. There was a some damage to the unit - the folding doors are an extremely cheap metal and bend very easily. Predictably they bent during the course of the year. As a matter of fact my relative suggested I get the landlord to change the doors out because they were so poorly made and would break with use. (I priced them at Home Depot for $39.99 per door, and there were only 5 of them) Also, the plastic shelving for the refridgerator was broken before we lived there. The previous tenants - to avoid charges fixed it sort of, but during everyday use they fell apart.
The landlord on the other hand sent me a non-itemized bill for damage in the amount of $1600. There was not $1600 of damage to that apartment.
My last thought - the neighbors were great, the LANDLORD WAS LOUSY and I would NOT recommend renting there.
