I will NEVER take a vehicle to Napleton's again even if we were on the street outside and the car was on fire!! I was forced to take our Honda Insight to Napleton's for repair last fall because no other shop in Rockford would touch a hybrid. They said that the entire engine needed replaced. Needing to keep the hybrid for its high gas mileage, we bit the bullet and said okay. After a month, we finally got the car back.Somehow during the whole engine replacement, some of the wires had gotten stripped and sealed with a liquid plastic - even though the electrical system has nothing to do with putting in a new engine. Tell me another!A couple of weeks ago, the car started having electrical issues. Having no other choice, we had it towed to Napleton's again. They said that replacing the engine would have caused no damage to the electrical system and it would cost us $2000 to fix. They said the part would be $800 and the rest was labor. We looked online and found the part for $80. Uncharacteristic of any other shop we have dealt with, they said that if we brought the part in, they would install it...for $1800. Sounds a bit shady to me.We told them not to touch anything and to have it ready for pick up at the end of the week. When we showed up to get the vehicle, they still had it in the bay and could not find the keys. These idiots had it clogging up one of their bays for DAYS after they were told to NOT work on it!I have never been to a shop that is so poorly run and who will cheat you just because they think they can.

This company does not seem to understand simple instructions like "Do not call after 10am." I work 3rd shift and any time after that is like calling me in the middle of the night. I received a call today asking how they did on their service from the last time my car was in, which my wife already yelped about. I informed them of the issues I was told the Manager would call. This is the same answer I got the last time I had complained, which the Manager never did call. Instead I started getting calls from all sorts of services that Napelton gave my number to.

My service center was quoted 1700.00 for a complete rekey on my 1998 ML320 in January then when we took it in about 2 weeks ago we got a formal quote of $1796.65 this was fine. The problem was they completed part of the rekey only to tell us after they were done that ??THEY DIDNT KNOW" that both computers in the truck have to be replaced and now I need another $1000.00 for this 1 part. After arguing with the supervisor who told me they had "never done this repair before and it wasn't their fault they didn??t know it needed both computers each time they quoted it". He said he will see what they can do on the price of the part but don??t count on very much because of the age of the vehicle? Really so I bet if it was a 2010 they would have put me in a loaner till they fixed everything. Then got the call today they are not going to do a thing... GUESS WHAT they now own a 1998 ML320 because I'm not paying for their mistake.

I purchased a new Honda Civic from Napleton's a few years back and I could not be happier. They offered me a price for my trade-in that was more than fair and they also had competitive prices on the vehicles on their lot. Their sales tactics were not high pressure at all and they never once made me feel as if I was inconveniencing them, as some car dealerships like to do; when I mentioned that I was hoping to buy a red car this time around, they even offered to go out and find me a red Civic, since they didn't have one on their lot at that time (though I decided that the black one that I test drove suited me just fine). This was the very first brand new vehicle that I had ever bought and the salesman (Chris Loch) made it a point to have his manager and a few other people around the dealership stop and tell me congratulations on my purchase. I don't know if this is something they do for every customer, but it sure made me feel special and as if they really cared about more than just the check I brought them.

I have returned to Napleton's for service and I have always been very pleased with the treatment I received there, including a free wash any time I took my car in to be worked on. A few times I called the service department just to ask a question and the staff was always more than helpful and polite with me, never making me feel like a "dumb female" and never attempting to talk me into services that I do not need. Overall, I would recommend Napleton's to anyone (and have); they have always made me feel as if I was more than just a customer.

Pros: Helpful staff, easy buying experience

Cons: Distance (for me)

Took my Mercedes ML into Napleton for $1100 worth of repairs. It had about 90,000 and was in do for spark plugs, transmission flush, and coolant lining. A few hours after dropping it off, I was called to pick up the car. As soon as I drove it off the lot, the car began to shake violently. Never made it home. Let it in a parking lot because I didn't feel safe driving 10mph at rush hour and the power steering went out. Napleton towed the car back to the shop and then told me that I had to pay for an additional $600 to get the car running. I tried to get them to return the car to me in the condition when it was dropped off at no further cost to me, but they told me to pay or get out basically. The management refuses to talk to me further. Well, that's fine because they can deal with Mercedes Benz of America, the Better Business Bureau, and my lawyer.

If you want good service and good/honest workmanship, STAY OUT OF NAPLETON!!

A few years ago, I needed to get a new car. I knew that I wanted a Honda Civic and did all the on-line research that I could. I knew how much the dealer paid and what the offering price was. I walked in and told the salesman that I wanted the Red Civic EX and I am willing to pay this price. The salesman gave me a nod and say we can do that. There was no running back and forth playing sales manager games. Also, they offer free car washes on Saturday for any car they sell. This is nice, but the lines are sometimes long and not worth the time.
