I had my 5 year old and toddler. I ordered a turkey sandwich, fries and sweet potato fries. The order was $20.00 without drinks so that was a bit pricey, but oh well. The problem I had was that although I was only behind one man, the woman answered the phone to take phone orders. I hate that. When she was on the phone she was really rude to the caller - like when you're too slow so they keep saying "Uh Huh" and "What else". I told the clerk that I only had a half an hour to get my son to kindergarten so would she mind asking the guys to rush my order. She said it would only be a minute. Well, more than 10 MINUTES LATER I was still waiting. I asked the guy at the nd of the counter, where I was waiting, why it was taking so long and he said fries take ten minutes. The clerk with the attitude at the other end of the counter, while taking orders and with a line now, shouted back up that they're fries and they take ten minutes. I was shocked and said "Oh my God why didn't you tell me that. I told you I only had a few minutes." She rolled her eyes at me and made a face to the people in line like I was whiny. I wanted to be really rude but instead I just said I guess she only wants compliments. It's weird too as there is a sign on the wall that reads "Be nice or leave."

On top of that, the food was ordinary. The lettuce was shredded too thin so it liquefied with the mayo. I had to check to see if there were tomatoes because I knew I had asked for them but I couldn't tasete them. The fries were simple frozen shoestring fries. The sweet potatoes - a favorite of mine which I never pass up when I have the chance - were worse than the type from White Castle, which I don't eat. Although perhaps they are better with a sauce; when I ordered them I was asked what dressing I wanted for them and I asked the clerk what type they had and she said there were too many to name.(I let that go as I was in a hurry.) When I was leaving I asked the clerk's name and I was told she's the manager. I definitely don't take anything she did personally as I'm sure she treats everyone like an inconvenience. I will never go back to this place, even though I frequent the area a lot, and I don't recommend anyone else go there either. Overall it was upsetting to be given a dressing down in front of everyone for just being a customer in the line of fire of an employee who has issues.

Pros: None

Cons: Manager has attitude to spare

.

Overpriced pretty much sums it up. The beef tenderloin was good, but I'd expect it to be about 50% larger for the price. The "fresh" tuna was completely overcooked and chewy and overly drenched in soy. You couldn't taste the fish at all. Actually only took 3 bites and tossed it out since it tasted as though I was drinking straight soy sauce. The sides were tiny and everything was smashed together, as other reviews have also said. You would think for the $4 delivery charge they would at least have someone with a car, instead of a bike messenger, so they could keep the food upright. Delivery took an hour and a half and arrived cold. I give every place i eat at least two chances. This was their second, and last, chance. Will not be ordering again. Perhaps dine-in experiences are better, but from reading some other reviews, probably not.

I use to sing high praises about this place. After my last visit, I will no longer go back. Ordered a Chicken Caesar sandwich for a late lunch, picked up and got home and their was nothing on the sandwich except for the chicken and a weak Caesar dressing. The chicken breast was dry and tuff to chew. Called back to voice my displeasure about nothing on my sandwich. The rude women who I spoke with stated "on the menu it says somewhere the sandwich comes with nothing". At this point I was super ticked off by her pretentious condescending attitude I could not believe she so cold and uncaring about keeping a loyal customer happy. Of course I was extremely upset at the worst $11.00 sandwich in my life. Why couldn't the person taking order ask if we want anything on the sandwich?

My office coworkers and I use to eat lunch there a couple times a month, never again. Lousy rude arrogant service is now the norm at Jerry's. If Jerry Garcia was buried he would be rolling over in his grave knowing this establishment is using his name. The people who work here are not kind people.

Cons: Rude service, Over priced

We had a pretty large order with Jerry's today to be delivered to our office. They were on time and everything was perfect. The sandwiches were extremely fresh and a good size. Everyone commented on how good they were. I highly recommend Jerry's on Division.

Jerry's sandwiches are truly unique--unlike most gourmet sandwich places they have literally hundreds of combinations. All the ingredients are really high-quality and they have a variety of tasty sauces/mayonnaise. They also have a decent number of vegetarian options. The service is very fast. There aren't a lot of places to sit, but this is mostly a take-out joint (they have a sit-down restaurant in Wicker Park). The only drawback is the price. It's a little expensive, which keeps it from becoming an everyday-type place. It's definitely fun every once in a while though.

I'll agree that the sandwiches here are pretty decent, and the ingredients are very fresh. The problem is that the employees making the sandwiches seem to be unable to read a ticket correctly. Each of my last four visits I've had to send my sandwich back to have it made right, and twice it came back wrong again, along with a big helping of nasty attitude from the staff. One complaint to the manager was responded to not with an apology, but instead with "well, we're very busy right now" .Too busy to get it right = too busy for my patronage. This place used to be good but its really going downhill fast. I won't be back anytime soon.

Pros: fresh, unique ingredients

Cons: can't be bothered to get it right - staff has bad attitide

Probably one of the worst sandiwches I ever had to pay for. Stale bread. Roast beef was not fresh and was very salty. It tasted so bad, I threw it away half-way through it. I can't believe these guys are in this business. You almost have to go and see for yourself how bad their sandwiches and service are. There are 4 guys working behind the counter, but somehow we waited over 30 minutes in line with only 5 other customers in front of us. By the time we got our sandwiches, we had already finished 2 bags of chips and half of our drinks. They have not figured out how to run a sandwich shop: take order, take money, and serve sandiwch - it's really not that complicated. Chicago is sorely in need of a good, non-chain, sandwich shop/deli and this place is just pathetic.

Pros: No rodents sited.

Cons: Stale bread. Pre-cut, not-fresh, salty cold cuts. Unnecessarliy long line/wait for a sandwich.

This review is for the Jerry's Sandwiches located at 1938 W. Division St. This location recently opened, and being a huge sandwich lover, I decided to try it out today. After trying to call in an order for carry-out three times, and reaching no one on the phone, I decided to walk over and place my order. The hostess was cold as ice and told me my order would take about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the restaurant was steady with patrons, but certainly not slammed or packed to the bills. After waiting half an hour for two sandwiches that weren't even grilled, I brought my food home. The bread was stale, the fries were cold, and I was completely dissatisfied. For all the alleged hype, I would suggest passing on Jerry's and go to Janik's subs across the street. Since they are family owned, they actually are friendly, they answer their phones, and carry out orders take less than 10 minutes. And if you can't make it there, you could probably get a better sandwich at 7/11 or White Hen Pantry. And also, I never write reviews, but after working in the service industry for over 10 years, I was pretty appalled at my experience at Jerry's and wanted to save other good customers their time and money. There is just too much good food out in this world to be wasting your money at a place like this. And again, this is in reference to their Division location. not the one on Madison.

Pros: All the servers looked pleasant and friendly, and the restaurant itself was very clean

Cons: For a place that specializes in sandwiches, they weren't very good, or even noteworthy.

If they made sandwiches in heaven they would taste like Jerry's sandwiches. They us only the freshest and best ingreadiants and you can really tell. They sanwiches taste so fresh. I go there all the time. I've been goig there since they opened , it's just been so lovely to watch them grow. Usually when I go at about 12:30 the line is out the door! It's crazy but so good. I love that when there younger daughter is in how just polite she is and kind and loves to help people and so enthusiastic. She really shows how friendly and polite and helpful Jerry's is. All the staff there are just so great soemtimes you catch one of the staff memebers on a bad day but they are still very kind and helpful. I really love the outdoor seating and irealyl love the feel of Jerry's. I am super excited for the new place to open on monday! At 1938 West Division. I ahve looked in that shop and looks just great and ZI bet the fodo willl be even better! I am sooo excited t o check it out1

The service is great considering they are usally quite busy. Phone ahead or get delivery if you can. Usually there is room to sit down in the back 11-12, they have free wi-fi for informal meetings.

But you go there for your favorite sandwich. Honestly, if you have a bad sandwich at Jerry's it's because you asked for something you don't like. Everything is top notch. Their specials are imaginative and tasty. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food. $2 more than Subway... you can't even compare the food.

I am a HUGE fan of their soups!! If they have meat in them, it's usually from the smoker they have on-site. EXCELLENT!!

If you're in Chicago for more than a day, you owe it to yourself to get lunch here.

Jerry's is a great, affordable sandwich shop which offers fresh meats and impeccable service. I live far away from the shop, but am a frequent lunch-time visitor. I've never met anyone who has had a bad experience at Jerry's and I don't think I ever will. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to eat smart and eat healthy!

While it would seem that parking for Jerry's might be tight. I have always been able to find a spot right in front. And if the list of sandwich materials seems overwhelming, grab one of their booklets with predeisnged sandwiches, or even just ask for help. THe staff is always kind and willing. I have nothing but good words to say about Jerry's. THe food is great and so is the atmosphere.

Quite simply, the most awesome sandwich joint you will ever find. Where else could you get freshly roasted salmon on D'Amato's bread with grilled onions, grilled asparagus, provolone and homemade chipotle mango chutney with a side of thai noodles (or one of several other daily sides) for SEVEN BUCKS? You cannnot beat their food at any price...and Mindy, contrary to one dumb comment, is a charming, kind and talented host. The rest of the team there is oh-so-friendly as well, as long as you don't misbehave (so grow up and be polite to your servers already...). Mark's daily specials and homemade soups are incredible, too...and don't forget Uriah's to-die-for bread pudding! The rest of the sandwich world is just left in the dust of ordinariness--sorry guys, but Jerry's is in a class by itself!

Jerry's is the most amazing sandwich shop I've ever eaten at! You have so many choices and the food is always fresh and delicious! The freshly baked cookies also keep me coming back time and time again. The workers are friendly and will help you if you don't know exactly what you want. My friends and I live at least 20 minutes away, but make it a point to go to Jerry's as often as possible. If you haven't been there yet you really need to go and see why I love it so much!

Jerry's has the best sandwiches anywhere. You can choose from 100 already designed sandwiches or create your own sandwich from the many ingredients on the menu. I'll admit that sometimes it may be a little overwhelming because eveything is just so tempting, but after your secong time, you won't be so overwhelmed. The staff is so fabulous that by your fifth visit most of them will know your name and they'll have a conversation with you. One of my favorite things is their beautiful outdoor seating, which is so fun to sit and talk and eat in. Also for all you computer lovers, they have free wifi internet. Also don't listen to the corn guy I have never in all 4 of my years going there had a problem with the service. The indoor seating is very nice too with a New Orlean's touch. I would highly recomend getting a cup of Scooter's frozen custard - it is the best custard I have ever tasted..

Ive been to Jerrys a few times and it was great every time. The food is absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is great. On a nice day it great to be able to sit out side and enjoy some good food while relaxing in the city. I defiantly did not agree with the other reviews, the service was fine and I usually go during lunch, there were no problems with crabby staff. Jerrys is a great restaurant and I cant wait to go back.

Jerry's opened my eyes to a wide variety of sandwiches and salads. With the large kitchen in back, they make everywhere from fresh roast salmon to amazing strip steak. Their homemade soups are also delicious! This place is one of a kind.
By the way, I've never had problems with ordering corn. Nor should a limited selection of grilled corn keep you from coming to get a great sandwich. That's ridiculous.

Pros: Try the Southwest Mayo and/or Chipotle Mango Chutney sauces...YUM!

These are the best sandwiches I've ever had, with 100 named sandwiches or make your own from many, many ingredients. Watch for the daily specials like fried chicken, hickory-smoked brisket, or tandoori chicken. Check the specials list on their web site. They own a big wood smoker too. Truly far out. And I like the lady a previous reviewer trashed - cranky but nice. Kind of like an old fashioned waitress.

The new place at 1938 Division is much slicker, but is open late with many, many cool craft beers.

These are the best sandwiches I've ever had, with 100 named sandwiches or make your own from many, many ingredients. Pros: Best sandwiches on the planet

Cons: Long lines during peak periods

Me and my co-workers go to Jerry's every week and I must say that the food is excellent. What is not excellent is the customer service. Especilly the owner of the company. She always seems overworked and frustrated when we come to pick up our food. She is very dry and gets upset if we order too much of their grilled corn. She said she only makes 12 per day and wants her customers to have some. What are we considered? And if our order is large, forget it. Don't offer things to customers that you can't handle. It's sad that you can't go to a place with good service and good food. I do not recommend this place unless you don't mind the rude owner!

Jerrys Sandwiches offer fantastic sandwiches. The employees are polite and clean. There is no where to sit, but the parking is good. It is a bit expensive but the sandwiches are well worth it. They have the best deli style sandwiches. They are much better than any other place. They also offer salads and soups, and other stuff.

PROS: Good food.
CONS: Price.

I can't believe all the awesome options they have available here- check out their website- I'm amazed I can make up my mind with a menu like this! The service is also terrific, the manager/owner? Laurie is very hospitable and seems to get to know regulars pretty well. Nice outdoor seating too. I look forward to trying more of their food!

We have been going to Jerry's since it opened and the food is incredible. The owners also own an upscale catering business, and it shows in their creative sandwiches, tasty soups and chill's and homemade cookies fresh out of the oven. Make your own sandwich or chose from over 30 favorites. The smoke thier own meats and fish and have specials like Maryland crab cakes. NOT s run of the meal deli, much much better. West Loop Budd.
