This might be my favorite restaurant on the planet. Their pasta combos have such amazing and unique flavors - they're wonderful! Pear ravioli?? Gnocci with apricots?? Delicious!

This will be the third year we are going for my birthday. We love having a tradition and we love the atmosphere, wine and VEGETARIAN selection that this place offers. And the birthday cake, if i remember correctly- a bread pudding smothered in a carmel sauce is to die for.

We decided to try this restaurant rather than the old stand-bys, Taylor Street etc,...& really glad we did, friendly staff from start to finish. We had five people and still were seated after only a short wait on the outdoor patio,...once seated (we stayed outside in the back patio) the server, although busy was attentive enough that there was never a glitch...do not expect the "get you in get you out" treatment at this venue, we saw people that were there for quite a long time just enjoying the evening it's a comfortable, casual easy going don't rush you place, with great spaces for relaxing drinks & great food, so if your looking for a change from the Taylor Street hub-bub...Rose Angelis provides A Friendly, Great & cozy place with some of the tastiest food the we had ever eaten, & we eat out a lot ! we would be going back tomorrow but we have doggie bags for the week ! Total tab including drinks for five people $145 + tip A bargain ! & that included three after dinner sweets that could have been just one when you saw the size. .... So all-in-all, I'm sure in a city the size of Chicago you may be able find a better restaurant, & maybe better food, but it won't be easy! This is a Gem !

This seems to be a very popular place, but I was disappointed when I went for dinner. I found that the food was heavy and not that inspired, and I thought the ambience was pretty average. (I was expecting romantic, but it felt more banquet-hall-ish.)

The food there is always great as are the servers.. the rest of the help I can't say the same for.. A bus-boy went to fill my glass of water (mind you I've worked in the service industry most of my life) he didn't pick up my glass..dumped water all over my food.. the table.. my nice suit.. and the floor.. and didn't even offer a napkin. I almost just walked out, but t wasn't my server's fault. I will not be back again.. It was my favorite spot to eat when I was up in the city. Very dissapointed in this nice little restaraunt.

This is a classic Chicago spot. Well at least in my mind. They have great food. I've gone here 15+ times over the past few years and have never been disappointed. Great food in conjunction with a wonderful atmosphere. You can't go wrong. FYI, you need reservations and still expect to wait a little bit. Have a glass of wine in the waiting room or go to the bar across the street. It's well worth the wait.

This is probably one of my most favorite places, ever! The serivice is amazing, the food is delectable, and the wine list is extensive. I can't think of a better date place; this is where my husband and I had our first official date! Besides the fact that Rose Angelis has a special place in my heart b.c of this fact, it also does have the best food I have ever tasted. The gorgonzola, grape and walnut tortellini is exquisite. So rich and filling, I have eaten off of it for 3 days! Best value and great food...plus romantic....definently check out Rose Angelis. You will not be dissapointed!

For me, i think the best restaurants are those who take common dishes and do them really well.

I have been a fan of Rose Angelis since i graduated college in 99. Some of the best hearty italian food I have ever had. Always try to order off the specials which are usually great. The vegatarian menu is great too for those type of people.

the only question mark is service. it used to be great, but now it is hit or miss and i am not sure why

This quaint neighborhood restaurant is a diamond in the rough. I have been coming for years and have introduced several couples to it. It is an excellent choice for vegetarians, as there are only a few meat entrees on the menu. Nobody we referred (including the meat lovers) has been disappointed. There can be a wait on the weekends, if you have a group over 4, I suggest having an early dinner between 4:30-6. If you like Italian off the beaten path of spaghetti marinara, this place is for you! ALWAYS listen to the specials, and save room for dessert. Fresh grated parm, pepper, and spiced olive oil w/bread are fantastic, but pace it. The entrees are gigantic, so share, or take home. The waitstaff are knowledgeable, friendly, and add to a wonderful dining experience!

Such fresh pasta! I have tried other dishes but always go back to the pasta because it's always the best. Adorable decor, very hospitable staff. One waitor I've had several times has been there for years knows the menu in and out and makes great recommendations. Always a safe bet for my vegetarian friends as well, which is an instant bonus. Desserts are ridiculously good. The Italian Bread pudding is delicious and HUGE- can be shared by 3 or 4 people, especially when you've just filled up on pasta!

Great value, OK wine list although the selection of the wines by the glass could be upgraded in quality for the same cost. Straightforward Italian fare with good service for a restaurant that is as busy as Rose Angelis.

This place is one of my favorites. The food is incredible, the staff is always friendly, and while the dining room may be a little loud at times the ambiance is still comfortable and inviting. I can't even begin to describe the deserts! You have never tasted anything like the Italian Bread Pudding!

The resturant is in a quiet neighborhood and it may be a little difficult to park but it is well worth it this is by far the best date resturant in Chicago. The food is excellent and there are always a couple of good specials. The staff is friendly and funny. The dinners are usually pretty causally dressed and you always feel comfortable.

This place is one of my favorites. The service is friendly and consistent (I think I've had the same waiter at least 3 times over a 3 year period) with a totally 'neighborhood', unpretentious feel. Great food, great value. Love it.

A plus... the summer deck - candles, wine and even a little greenery - makes for a very cozy and semi-romantic dinner.

This restaurant has everything. Good wine selection, wonderful food, good, fast (if you want it to be) service, and ambience! I have been to this restaurant many times and have NEVER been dissapointed...and the desserts, yum! During the summer they have a spacious outdoor area. One thing to keep in mind, they are not open on Mondays, and weekdays are the best days to go...the wait is short. Also, you get PLENTY of great food for your money! I highly reccommend this restaurant!

I adore this hidden treasure. The owner is always on site making sure that everything runs well, the staff is knowledgable and friendly and the food is outstanding. I am a huge carnivore but I rarely even notice that I've ordered something meatless because the pastas are so rich and delicious. The portions are rather large so you might want to split although the food is also the breakfast of champions the next AM.

Rose Angelis serves delicious food in a great environment. The best regular dishes are the Ravioli Luigi, Lasagna, and Zuppa di Mare, but their specials are usually the best way to go. Since portions are pretty large, you may want to share, especially if you want to save room for dessert. Service is usually excellent - just the right level of attention. Never felt rushed or cheated. It gets very crowded after 7pm on weekends, and the bar area is small, but it is worth the trip.

Excellent atmosphere. Full with people yet not so noisy as to make conversations impossible. Enough room to feel comfortable. Food is good as far as I've tried. The server was very nice and friendly...
Nice dim lights and italian village setting. If you can ask for the back room, it is cosier and cuter.
Definitely want to go again.

A rambling kind of place with more than a few murals to mull over, this restaurant is often packed. The draws are the huge portions and low prices. But we also appreciate the menu, which goes beyond respectable insalata caprese, chicken…
