I also was promised by the owner that my picture would be framed in 10 days max. On the 10th day, I was told it was ??still drying,? (?) & it would take longer. He said I should just relax & he??d call me when it was ready. When I asked what day, he started to rail at me ?? saying my call was interrupting the cogs in the machinery & taking him away from work. He told me to pick up my picture immediately. When I picked it up, it was interesting to see that my picture was in a pile with the mat and frame. Nothing had ever been glued or drying! I was treated rudely, to boot! I don??t know how this guy stays in business! I would NOT recommend this establishment!

Framer's Alley in Park Ridge: I ordered a $210 frame with museum glass for a painting I just finished. When I ordered the frame I made it clear that I was planning on giving this painting to a friend as a gift in two weeks. Jon (the owner?) promised me that it would be finished within 9-10 days. When I sent an email (via Framers website) to check on the status of my order on Day 9, I received this response reprimanding me for disturbing him: ??You really confused me and set me back today. I run a simple process. I call the customer when done. That is the way my procedure works each and every time with each and every client.? I was stunned. When I called on Day 10, the proprietor was verbally abusive and I was told that he would no longer deal with me and that I should pick up my painting immediately. I was shook up and asked my husband to come with me to the store, because I was actually afraid to pick it up alone.

I consider myself fortunate to have my painting returned undamaged and my deposit refunded. However, as we were leaving the store, the proprietor went so far as to try to pick a fight with my husband, challenging him to ??step outside!? He followed us out and attempted to intimidate my husband verbally and physically! When my husband did not back down, or take the bait of the insults that the proprietor addressed towards me ?? he stormed back into his shop. Needless to say, we will be taking our business elsewhere!

PLEASE NOTE: I should have read the following review on Citysearch BEFORE I went to Framer??s Alley in Park Ridge, IL: ??Customer Service is Not A Priority (by PRNative) Recently I have been treated to rants by the owner (?) when I had the temerity to call and inquire as to whether my painting was ready to be picked up. He told me it would be done in 10 days at the most which is when I called. He then told me it wasn't ready, but would be in 3 more days. Needless to say, that deadline passed as well. I told him it was a gift at the time I took it in for framing and he told me it would be done in plenty of time. Well, it wasn't. I will never go back to this shop because the owner has a problem controlling his temper and keeping deadlines he himself agreed to. Take your business elsewhere.?

Business Response:

same lady as the last review, She is upset at the fact that I dont run my store the way she sees fit, She had never had anything framed in her life and I had stayed open 2 hours late on a nice summer saturday afternoon for her , She got to my store 1 minute before I closed. Then she emailed me on Sunday asking for pictures of what we had both chosen, Now I am closed that day to share time with my family so I wasnt at the shoppe. First thing Monday she calls to ask about what we picked again and before I even had a chance to sip my coffee. Her framing job was BTW $156.00 with tax not $210.00 and with expensive musuem glass at COST because she thought framing was too expensive. You had to of been there to really deal with this woman and at the end I told her simply Im returning your money to you and your artwork as well. Her items were not in a pile. They were sitting on a table neatly waiting for her. If you are expecting something in life that simply is outrageos at times you may be dissapointing only yourself in the end.

The only reason I cannot give them a 5 is they could use some kids things to keep the youngsters pre occupied but from the staff ansd selection to the process, It was fun and my art is finally framed and it gets noticed as well , and constantly gets complimented. Thanks

Pros: Small Quaint shoppe with down to earth attitudes

Cons: If I have to say get some kids coloring books

We have just moved to the area nd upon grabbing a cup of joe at non-other than Starbucks we noticed a little store tucked back there and decided to go in. We looked around and spoke to one of the personal and asked about our picture to be framed and they offered a free suggestive consultation to help us decorate them. After bringing them back to The Framers Alley we were very pleased with the process and the outcome of our degrees and wedding photos. They look amazing and get a ton of compliments as well.We would recommend them to anyone who asked.

This shop has a large inventory of mats and frames to select from. The best thing, however, is the expert guidance you will receive from the personnel. They really know their stuff. Some very expensive pieces are framed here in this hidden away spot and they have been doing very well for many years. They also have some framed pictures and posters to purchase. Their prices are not inexpensive, but in the long run, I think you would be happy with the job they did for you.
