The store owner, Laura, was very nice. However the service overall that I had received for my bridesmaids dresses this year was just insanity. The sizes were all off and luckily none of the girls had their alterations done there, because I have heard nothing but negative comments on their alterations department.

Kelly H. - you posted on 08-01-09 where else can you find the same dresses that they carry?

their brands are Bari Jay, Watters, Watters Too, Eden, Belsoie, Mori Lee, Bill Levkoff, and Jordan

there are a couple of stores that I visited when i was planning my wedding. The best option for your search is to type in the brand name followed by vendors followed by your zip code you're lookin in.

Hope that helps.

I thought this was a cute place and the women were very nice and helpful.... much nicer than some other women at the bridal store down the street..... Anyways, after coming here twice and finally deciding on a bridesmaid dress for my bridesmaids, I got an anonymous letter in the mail addressed to my home telling me "DON'T SHOP AT BRIDESMART!" It said they are going bankrupt but of course they wont actually tell you that and if you order anything here you wont receive it and you will lose all your money...? So now I am confused because I loved the dresses I found for my bridesmaids and the only other store I found the same dresses at is in Elmhurst. Any suggestions anyone?

I can say this store has a good selection of wedding dresses but the staff is not customer focused. Good customer service starts with good management and the manager was rude. I was helped by a very nice lady by the name of Tina. The dresses were nice but I had my 1yr old daughter with me along with my mother who was going to purchase the dress for me. My daughter was not cooperating and did not want to be in that store. After trying on several dresses and narrowing down my selection my daughter was fussy, frustrated, and crying quite a bit but what 1yr old at some point does not cry. This was not normal for her to cry excessive like this but I was at the last dress and wanted the full effect with the petticoat and veil to make sure this was the dress. The manage came to the dressing room, took it upon herself to ask my mother to take my daughter outside since it was nice day to give the other customers a break with her crying. As my mother started to gather her and my baby I asked her what did the lady say to her and she told me. I thought that was the most insensitive and rudest thing you can ever say to a customer who is spending their money in your store. I could see if we were in a library, church, or someplace quiet. I was so out-done that she had the nerve to ask her to leave to give the other customers ears a rest because they were complaining. I stopped in my tracks put on my cloths and advised Tina that I would not be returning and they just lost a customer. Tina was really nice about the situation and apologized but that was not good enough for me. I went to the manage and advised her never to ask a paying customer to step outside because their child or children are crying, screaming, or any other such thing. She told me the other customers were talking and don't want to shop or try on dresses with a crying baby in their ear. It took everything out of me not to get ignorant with her and let her know where she can shove it because kids/child or children will be children and that's what they do cry from time to time and when you shop in a public place you will find that everyone has children and sometimes they're good and sometimes not. I thought that was very rude and furthermore let me know that my money is no good there. As a customer service manager of a large corporation myself that was not handled well and not customer focused at all. It's not what you say but how you say it. You never ask your customer to take their children outside because another customer is complaining because guess what? "they're all paying customers". If anything you apologize to the complainer and hope they understand and then you work with the other customer to either try and get them out sooner but not so they feel rushed or you pray the kid calms down...After the customer has been helped and satisfied and left the store then you can say whatever you want and be thankful they're gone but you never ask a paying customer to take their child outside because he/she is crying. If people don't understand that children will cry, holler, or just be kids then they don't need to shop in public places.!!! Management should be trained better to deal with situations like that rather than insulting one client to make another happy. People can be very rude and insensitive but I don't need to spend money at a business where their staff is rude and insulting. I would not recommend this place to anyone!! After reading all the reviews I'm glad I did not spend any money at this place because I had not gone on-line to check the reviews or the better business bureau, I was given this place by a co-worker. I guess I can thank my daughter for not having a good feeling about this place and wanting to leave. Now that I've read the reviews I can thank my baby again for saving me from this hell mart of a place.

When all the girls ordered their dresses, they put in a recommended size, however on my receipt they did not and called me a month after we were in there. I already paid for my dress and did the measurements when all the other girls placed their orders. The measurements were on my receipt. They called and asked what size I wanted. The dress was a two piece dress. I am a large chested woman and so I asked her to order whatever size was recommended for the top as if I even lost weight, I do not loose weight there. She recommended a size 20 top and indicated that a plus size dress was more money. I told her I did not care or mind paying the difference as long as the dress fit. I did however ask for an 18 bottom. She told me to send her an email confirming the size and so I did. When the dress came in, the top was way to small. My girlfriend who was recommended a size 18 and able to wear a 16, fit her with no problem, but it did not fit me at all. SO to cover themselves, they wrote in under the recommended size "22", however neither my copy nor the copy on the dress says that. They keep saying they recommended a size 22 when they did not. They sent the dress back to Alfred Angelo who did say that it was in fact a 20 as I was thinking maybe it was mistagged. Then they also tried to tell me that a size 22 costs even more than a size 20 and that??s why I did not go with a 22, which is not true nor was I told that. I ordered a size 20 because they said that is what I should go with. They told me I can pay for alterations and they will be able to get the dress to fit, however, their alterations are horribly expensive and why should I pay when they messed up. They had the size chart in front of them when they called me. All I had was my measurements. I also have lost weight since the initial measurement as well. So now I am stuck with a dress that I cannot wear, I am thankful I have four months to loose enough weight to fit into my dress, but then again why should I. Also everytime the bride calls, they keep assuming it is me calling and when she tells them she is the bride and her name, they still call her by my name. All these people care about is making the sale not the person. The customer is never right. Do your research you will see I am not the only one they screwed up on, however I was nieve and did not do the research before I purchased my dress.

I had a wedding to plan in one month's time, so I was surprised to find Bridesmart, but later was disappointed to find their deceptive way of doing business. Because I am busty and did not have the time to order a custom made dress, my choices were minimal. I fell in love with the one dress that fit me then and there, cost $200 and the alterations would be possibly $250.00. I bought the dress anyway even though the dress' bust line was too big and was told that the train would not be touched anyway not to worry about losing the detail in the alteration. I took it home and saw that it was way too big, they had sold me a dress too big and if they hemmed it, the detailed trai would be lost, no seamstress would be able o remedy that. I cannot imagine what that would have cost.

Since it ws a final sale, I went o David's Bridal and bought a simpler elegant and tasteful gown that fit me with few alterations just it tie for my wedding. I am, however, stuck with this gown and will have to probably give it away. I would not recommend Bridesmart, they are too quick to sell you anything and it's all final sale. When you walk in they attack you and guide you towards the more expensive dresses, I agree it is like wasting into a car dealership, they do not have your best intrest in mind. They are out to sell. Before walking out I did buy the matching shawl, but refused the veil, tierra, bag, etc.

My step daughter's dress I did find at this store and she looked gorgeous for my wedding, as far as prom dresses, I would recommend this store, but not a wedding gown. Good luck to you future brides.

Even with your response back to me on your website I still stand strong and firmly on my review and I have this wedding gown to show for it as proof, I am now stuck with a big size weddng gown that I am not sure who would buy it, I am sure I will be giving it away. I had a very nice wedding anyhow thanks to only David's Bridal from Vernon Hills, they were very professional and helpful in all my weddng needs, I highly recommend them again to you future brides. Stay far away from Bridesmart more like Bridesripoff!

Business Response:

Business Response You purchased a clearance gown for $200. Because it was a strictly off the rack gown, you had no choice in choosing an alternative size, which is why you were told that additional alterations were needed. Our seamstresses work extremely hard, and it is not fair to them to discount their hard work just because your dress was discounted to such a low price. You were aware of the size when you were in our store, when you tried the dress on, and when you took it home with you. We informed you that your sale was final and you chose to purchase your dress that day. Your consultant is a very hard working and honest woman, and you should be happy that you had her assistance for your wedding that was only one month away. Good luck to you in the future.

I just had a horrible experience with Bridesmart. I went in for alterations on a bridesmaid dress that had been bought from out of town. They charged an outragous amount but I went with it because I didn't have any other alternatives, I am new to the area and wasn't sure about the smaller, dry-cleaner places and no other bridal stores would do it. The manager assured me no work would be done on the dress until Friday and my visa would be charged at that time.

Later that evening I found out I could have it done for more than half the price Bridesmart had offered. Lest than 24 hours later I call and cancelled, mind you this was a Thursday. The manager informed me there was a $35 pinning fee that I would be responsible for. This was never stated before, during or after my fitting nor posted anywhere in the store. Who charges $35 for pinning and doesn't mention it until after the service is completed? I was willing to pay 20% of the alteration fee for canceling but they insisted on the full amount and used the excuse they already started the job which they were not suppose to do. The lady was very rude and condesending. I have recently become engaged and will not be going there again and I will tell all my engaged and soon to be engaged friends to stay away. Rude, terrible service and very unprofessional.

Spent $400 on a dress, that they ordered too big. Then another $100 on alterations. 6 trips back for alterations and the dress is still not right. Can't wear it the way it is....taking to a private tailor and I hope they can fix it, or it is garbage. Rush, rush, rush should be their moto. 2 seamstresses are nice grandma types, but they should stick to making cookies, have NO idea what they are doing. Entire staff seams incompetent. Felt like I was shopping at K-Mart. Would never ever recommend and would never go back. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Total waste of money.

We purchased my daughter's prom dress here. I paid for the dress and for the alterations. Several days later, they called to say they mis-quoted the cost of alterations, and now it would be an additional $135.00. I had a signed contract, from them, that they wouldn't honor. It was less than a week now before prom.
This was only a prom dress experience...(I'm not discounting it, because anyone with a teenage daughter knows the importance of such an event), however I would NEVER consider taking a brial party here. Shop Somewhere else!

They quoted me one price for alterations on my daughter's prom dress. Several days later, and only a few days before her prom, they called and said they made a mistake, and that the alterations would be $135 MORE! I just bought my wedding gown at Bridesmart this weekend any had the best overall experience from all the shops I've visited in the area. I had been there for my sister's wedding last year, so I was already familiar with their store. I had worked with a great consultant, Sue, while I was there, but I had two other employees who were stopping by to help me the whole time because it was so busy while I was there. They had very pretty styles that they showed me, but eventually my mom found "The Dress." Everyone who helped me was very laid back and answered any questions me and my girls had. F.Y.I. When they measured me, they showed me the size chart for my designer of my dress so I could see what size I'm ordering. It's hard to see how they can order a size too small unless you order a smaller size on purpose... Some of my girls are now on diets to lose weight for the wedding (though not at my request), so I can understand if they want to order smaller so they don't need as much alterations, but they understand that it's at their own risk if the dresses are too small. My wedding is not until November, so they have plenty of time anyways.

Just purchased my daughter's wedding dress. I helped her try the dresses on. They make their profits in getting you in and out quickly. You have to be willing to act like you are in a used car dealer. We got a better price on the dress because we were ready to walk out when we couldn't get the price that was on the dress. They tried to charge us $150 more than was on the dress. The dress was going to cost $930 elsewhere. We got it for under $700. I will probably not have them alter it. I can do it or I have an aunt that can do alterations. Hopefully everything will be O.K.

I did not have a good experience when ordering my bridesmaids dresses with this buisness. If you do chose to do buisness with them just be cautious and make sure to document everything.

I bought my wedding dress and five bridesmaid dresses from this shop. They had cute styles and fair prices. The only problem with Bridesmart is that the customer is never right. I have had nothing but problems since I ordered all of the dresses. My dress was creased and stained (which came out, thankfully). Two out of five bridesmaid dresses had two dramatically different shades of black side-by-side. After trying on her dress, my sister discovered they had measured her for two sizes too small. They refused to make amends, and now I am left without a bridesmaid. If you work with this business, beware.

PROS: Lots of styles
CONS: Their business ethics

.

We bought our bridesmaids dresses through this store. They never seemed to have enough time for anyone. Lots of women running around with tape measures and very little personalized help. Their dressing rooms are few and they have one tiny bathroom in the whole place. Their costs of bridal gowns was good but their alterations were insane. I wouldn't go back after my personal experience.

PROS: decent prices
CONS: costly alterations, no help, always busy
